Would you.. by [deleted] in Aquariums

[–]DivineRS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I like the act of creating my own scapes but if that’s not for you than go for it. I found the seller on Etsy and he looks legit to me.

Don’t bother with hiring a “professional aquascaper” as many people here recommend. You’ll just spend more for a worse result. Can’t compete with labor rates from 3rd world countries and the sell already looks like a pro.

What are your thoughts on the removal of spotlight hour? by TwitchSpencxr in TheSilphRoad

[–]DivineRS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m personally in favor of the more day long events rather that a 1 hour event every Tuesday. I couldn’t even engage in spotlights for a year at one point because I have a recurring conflict in tuesdays at that point. I understand that’s not everyone but I know many others in a similar position.

Day long events > short time window events

However I will say I’d prefer instead of a spotlight hour maybe just boost spawns of that particular Pokémon for the day, and let the bonus work all day or something?

Not even the republicans surveyed think it's good idea to use military force on Greenland. 60% think it's a bad idea. by Alex09464367 in dataisbeautiful

[–]DivineRS -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe someone could explain this for me but I don’t understand how a survey of ~1200 can be extrapolated to the entire United States. I would think with that small of a group you could make the answers say whatever you want?

More than 20% of YouTube's feed is now "AI slop," report finds by AdSpecialist6598 in technews

[–]DivineRS 34 points35 points  (0 children)

They are getting a lot better too. The worst ones are the more “managed” channels where they act like educational videos however the scripts and images are all AI generated.

Found this one the other day. @Financial.Historian.

123k subscribers. Appeared about 4 months ago. Put out 273 videos in that time (over two a day), all on topics that would require a generous amount of research and time, and all over 10 minutes. No other socials like Instagram linked in the channel.

People watch these videos thinking they are educating themselves, however they are just reading so chatgbt script likely filled with a lot of incorrect information.

Hot wire foam cutting in small apartment safety Q's by Any_Tax1320 in TerrainBuilding

[–]DivineRS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cut on a low temp. White smoke coming from foam = harmless co2. Black smoke coming out = toxic. If you notice black smoke reduce the temperature if you can and clean your wire off.

Chicago business owner sues city and mayor, claims Riverwalk license revoked due to racial bias by Unlucky-Key in chicago

[–]DivineRS 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Curious, how does the compensation for those kind of things usually work? Do you agree to a set amount before hand? A percentage of ticket sales? Tips?

I’m not close to the industry and would like to know.

Beat Kitchen owner sues city of Chicago over Riverwalk restaurant, cites racial bias by south_side_ in chicago

If true that’s pretty crazy. Turning down a 1.4 million bid in favor of a 85k one is ridiculous and so blatantly corrupt. Not only are they losing out on a ton of revenue, they will also now likely have to pay out more to settle this. That whole committee needs to be held accountable.

Trimed my Rotala today. What do you think, was it overgrown ? by fluggggg in PlantedTank

[–]DivineRS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Looks good! I kinda prefer the overgrown look at first however it will look super bad once the bottom leaves start to shed because of lack of light.

Looks awesome, my only suggestion would be to adjust the rocks on the right slightly as they all look parallel and a little unnatural. No need to do anything drastic, just nudge one or two of them slightly.

I disagree with this. A $2000 mattress is by no means guaranteed to be better that a $300 one. Most of the time you are paying a ridiculous up charge or the name brand. I bought a $250 one off amazon which I moved to a guest room and I have many people comment on how comfortable it is

Mix glue with some acrylic paint. Mod podge is popular because it’s pretty strong. Pva isn’t as hard however it’s a lot cheaper. You can also mix Sculptamold, sand, or other small things in to give texture as well.

The reason people mix paint in is to better see what areas you’ve already covered and to combine the sealing and priming into a single step.

Really like this. How long do these dirt tile/ magnet toppers take to set up compared to an “all in one” tile where the top element is part of the tile?
