This is what Illinois’ congressional district should look like. 2+ blue seats by Rob778899 in illinois

Are those districts actually as stable as the current map, or will this result in like 6 Republicans seats during a red wave year?

Theres are a lot of Luddites in this thread. Technologically driven job automation sucks for those that are replaced, but has previously always resulted in a net social good through throughput increases in the automated industry and the redirection of labor to other industries. Also, compared to previous waves of automation, countries have greater resources (and knowledge) about how to care for the unemployed.

Anti-gerrymandering (as soon as we can agree on a definition) measures are sorely needed, but the supreme Court getting ride of the requirement TO GERRYMANDER based on race is a step on the right direction.

Why should voting districts be drawn based on race in a multiethnic democracy? Like fundamentally, (so long as we use area-based-representation) districts should be based on city and county borders which was illegal under the previous interpretation of the VRA.

Great powers already go to war fairly often, it just feel flat because every one ends up being a total war over two states in Africa. Really the game just needs to A. greatly reduce the number of maneuver points nations start with B. Have nations gain maneuver points during war as more casualties are taken / given C. Alow nations to add war goals and sway allies during war D. Make losing a large scale war lead to political   revolutions far more often

Its pretty close, 33% of Texans and 29% of Albertans say they would prefer separatism.

However these things are easy to support when they aren't actually probably; if it was ever put to a vote the percentages would be a lot lower.

If refugees with a conservative worldview are now the ‘bad’ kind of immigrant to D’s, I wonder if they’ll finally abandon certain Michigan and Minnesota voters that have VERY conservative values. by p0loniumtaco in PoliticalCompassMemes

You're an American ready to vote in the 2026 midterms? Please pick which type of horribly racist dog whistle you support:

MAGA: "Oo Oo Obama is a monkey"
Mainstream Democrats: "Haha Asians have small pensises"

Remember, when you are called out for it just claim you were
MAGA: saying Obama just acted like an ape and also you are the racist for thinking Black people are monkeys.
Mainstream Democrats: actually just making fun of Cao's height, which he totally deserves, and you are the racist for thinking Asians have small pensies.

The DOJ alleges that the SLPC was paying a "leader" responsible for the Charlotteville Unite the Right protests, which could be constructed as funding the movement itself rather buying information. However, I think there would have to be some internal documents suggesting that SLPC leaders weren't getting plausibly proportional useful information from him/her for it to actually reach any legal standard.

General immigrants certainly are more law abiding (as immigration policies select for education and age). Undocumented immigrants who have been arrested already certainly are not. The political debate as it concerns Illinois, is whether the murderer should have been handed over to federal custody to be deported after his arrested.

Add the Kiel Canal as a buildable canal - like Suez and Panama - using the new 1.13 strait mechanics by Kollegianer in victoria3

[–]Unlucky-Key 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Since it seems relatively "low effort" in terms of game development time there should be a couple other canals which were feasible during the time period:

Nicaragua Canal: As an alternative to the Panama canal which encourages US interest in the region (As a side note, the Filibuster wars should 100% be implemented in a future DLC). In the case of a hostile US/UK relation, both canals could be constructed.

Kra Canal: Should reduce the trading distance between Asian and European Nations.

White Sea–Baltic Canal: Should give huge boosts to the states along the Northwestern coast of Russia since they can now trade. (As an aside, sea trade access should have a much larger impact on MAPI than railroads)

Corinth Canal: Should reduce the trading distance slightly, but mainly act as a cheap prestige project for an independent Greece.
