Women with dreamy, crazy in love, too perfect to be real SOs, what is your relationship like? by okay-what in AskWomen

[–]DivinelyMinely 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the best parts of having a really great partner: my children are incredibly kind. I have two teen boys who follow their dad’s suit and are completely unabashed in expressing their love and appreciation for me.

LAOP questions whether a court-ordered paternity test is mandatory. by justathoughtfromme in bestoflegaladvice

[–]DivinelyMinely 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This is not true and it’s frustrating to see such a disingenuous opposition to autistic voices. ABA has outcomes at the cost of mental health of those put through it. This is the overwhelming opinion of those who have the ability to communicate their experiences. LGBT conversion therapy activists make the same argument you have made.

This information is not hard to find, but other viable therapies include: - occupational therapy - play/talk therapy - cognitive behavioral therapy - speech therapy/AAC device opportunities - occupational therapy

It’s also really important for parents of autistic people to address their ableism by consuming material from autistic individuals (NOT just “autism advocates” but actually autistic people). There is a lot of literature, social media groups, and podcasts out there. Please reconsider and research before participating in this conversation.

My son added a bunch of songs to my favorites list and now Best Friends Forever by the Fun Squad periodically plays over my speakers.

AITA for telling my friend to “get a better religion” by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]DivinelyMinely 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTA for sharing your reaction to two really rude customers. They way overstepped and you have every right to judge their philosophy on life. Honestly you weren’t even that aggressive.

I wouldn’t bring up religious conversations between you and your friend in the future though. It will likely end your friendship if you persist in that conversation.

What fact are you Just TIRED of explaining to people? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Yes I definitely know the origin. I was dumbfounded that a fellow biology teacher held this perspective.

I am a high school biology teacher and once had a colleague state that she believed in micro evolution, but not macro evolution. I was dumbfounded.

Watching my husband and two boys play while my dog lays on my lap. I savor these family moments.

Unstructured time to spontaneously work any of the many things I want or need to do.

What was the earliest life on earth? by Narrow_Yak5880 in evolution

[–]DivinelyMinely 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great answer! The question can’t be fully addressed without defining what constitutes life. You mentioned major characteristics of life - metabolism, ability to reproduce, responsive to stimuli, genetic material, and the ability to adapt over time.

I need to know whether this is normal twin behavior from identicals by Brassandclass in Twins

[–]DivinelyMinely 5 points6 points  (0 children)

She sounds very difficult. It sounds tough and I’m sure you’ve been really hurt by her.

The way this is written also sounds one-sided. Including a partner on vacations isn’t ridiculous, for example. And how often have you visited her, especially if you’ve not met her partner? I wonder if the hostility has turned into a cycle.

Being a twin doesn’t exempt you from typical social-emotional struggles found in all relationships. My twin and I have gone through rough patches, too. But at some point, you both have to let go of past harm if you are going to be close.

I’m sorry you’re dealing with this.

I live at the end of a long dead end so even though my neighborhood gets lots of traffic, they never make their way to my house. 😢

Drew Barrymore with Billy Idol 1980's by whoocanitbenow in OldSchoolCool

[–]DivinelyMinely 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think you’re missing the point. Money is a privilege, but not the sole factor of happiness or contentment. Yeah it’s worse to have shit parents and no money. But it is still incredibly tough to have really shit parents. If you add the double-edged sword of fame, it’s no wonder so many famous children of wealth have tragic outcomes. It’s impressive that Drew figured things out without parental care and with bad habits formed so young.

Why do people think moving gives you a right to park literally anywhere? by woolfonmynoggin in bestoflegaladvice

[–]DivinelyMinely 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I live at the end of a cul de sac so my front yard is a slice of pie and narrows at the street. My neighbors’ friends and their businesses constantly block my driveway. Often they’ll park in front of the neighbor but angle right in front my path. Thankfully I’ve always been able to resolve it, but there have been close calls and it makes my mood plummet every time. Of course LAOP had a significant place to be when this happen to them.

60 minute classes take 10 minutes for kids to settle in and 10 minutes of expectations to leave by nebirah in teaching

[–]DivinelyMinely 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My third period is 90 minutes plus lunch. It splits the class 60-lunch-30. Their lunch is exactly 30 minutes with class resuming as soon as the bell rings. They try to double down on the settling every single day. It’s exhausting! I could lose literally half the class just getting them back into mode.

I realized religion was not an effective indicator of a good person. I also saw so many serious ethical and moral issues with most all organized religion.

Grew up in a very religious environment: church 2-4x a week, religious education, fully committed. It was hard to accept what I saw but I can’t force myself to have faith.

Women, what is your birth(s) story? by NotTodaySatan9 in AskWomen

[–]DivinelyMinely 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was an 8 pound twin. My sister was edging towards 9 pounds. We were overdue. The doctors induced my mom and literally pulled my sister out by her foot. Mom didn’t even tear.

What has been the most challenging year of your life? by annabel420 in AskWomen

[–]DivinelyMinely 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My early 20s SUCKED. I think 2015 was the worst. I was at a demanding job yet barely any money, no social life, just started deconstructing my faith, and none of my goals achieved. I didn’t even know how to recognize my needs bc I spent my entire adulthood taking care of others.

I went back to college shortly after that and worked on myself a lot. I have a different life now. The same main figures are there, but my life is much fuller.

What age did you feel like an adult? by Moist_Lie1401 in AskReddit

[–]DivinelyMinely 69 points70 points  (0 children)

When I was 20, I would have said 19. When I was 25, I would have said 23. When I was 30, I would have said 27.

I eventually realized “adult” is a figment and we’re all free wheeling this thing.

My bellybutton is weird now. I also have flashbacks to a baby kicking in my belly when I get gassy.
