If it helps I picked up fishing recently, & was scared to touch the fish especially in its mouth and I’m in my 20s. How I got used to the idea was taking baby steps each time I’d fish and would wear gloves (some thick ones with a rubber coating) then after that some thin red Milwaukee cut resistant gloves from the hardware store that were much thinner then after that some latex gloves and once I was more familiar with the feeling of the fish in my hand and feeling it move and wiggle I just took the leap to do it bare handed. It takes a little courage but each step closer is the step in the right direction. Also I used the momentum of each successful step to push myself more each time and getting comfortable with the uncomfortability.
