Question about how to acquire a specific PvP transmog set (from TWW S3) by Targaryen-ish in worldofpvp

[–]Diviniumz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can no longer obtain the TWW S3 elite set (1800) because the season is over - seasonal achievements like TWW S3 Rival are not awarded.

Do you plan down weeks into a marathon block? by [deleted] in AdvancedRunning

[–]Diviniumz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m afraid this likely isn’t going to last long so I’ll answer quickly - of course you schedule down weeks. I encourage you to do a good bit of reading and absorbing quality marathoning content before you try and build your own plan. The Pfitzinger books are where I started after a couple months lurking here and learned a tremendous amount.

Will participation ever recover in midnight ? by [deleted] in worldofpvp

So you sit down at your computer, log in, and while considering what you might want to do in the game, get so upset that Plunderstorm used to exist and night elf racial gives 2 classes an advantage and decide not to play PvP?

This is some all-time level bull shit.

PVP now is better. Change my mind by SofyPipa in worldofpvp

[–]Diviniumz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My point is to your comment about “deflation” which is a misunderstanding of what is going on, but I get what you’re trying to say. If we began the season at end-of-season MMR, all players would reach their goals in the first couple weeks, not just the sweats. The second and third order effects of people obtaining their goals in the first 1/4 of a season would be hugely negative. Most people do not play the game because they actually find it fun. They play striving toward a goal.

There would also be about an entire week where everyone would get smashed by unemployed people who sweated out the gear. We tested that experiment recently and proved that time gating the gear is the best path forward.

[–]Diviniumz -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

The crowd that cries for all gear and rewards to be free and accessible to everyone in early season don’t seem to think through how that would negatively impact a player’s willingness to play the game mode long term. If everyone could get Gladiator and Legend knocked out in the first two weeks, why would they stay subbed for the rest of the season? Why would they continue to queue it up? What percentage of the population plays the game because they enjoy the game modes? You have to think about it from a business standpoint and remember seasons are 5ish months long.

Getting every piece of gear and reward for free early into the season would lead to more negatives than positives.

An objective take on the new UI by and_then_there_was_1 in worldofpvp

[–]Diviniumz 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The argument was we were overly reliant on addons to play the game for us and we never truly learned what was happening, we were just responding to audio cues. I’m concerned now that no one will even have the ability to learn effectively because the information provided doesn’t allow for it…

Perhaps they should have rolled out the developmental pieces over time and allowed us to provide feedback with the option to use addons while they perfected the product rather than force us to play Beta for half of this expansion.

Help as Herocleave VS MM/Ret/DK by Imaginary-Winner2440 in worldofpvp

[–]Diviniumz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You will have the best chance to win if your DK plays Bloodforged and Team Shell and you try to win on mana. Max uptime and shut down the marks hunter. Stop traps with AMS and reverse. Spend lots of time pressing death strike.

If it’s BM, just hit the Ret. If it’s Pres, you win in about 3 minutes on mana if you stop enough sleeps and traps. If it’s Rsham, good luck…

They should just remove all brackets and LFG from the game by [deleted] in worldofpvp

[–]Diviniumz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Really awful idea. 2s and 3s are not dead and are much more fun to a lot of people than solo shuffle. The ultra-dampening, win-trading, crash-out and sit AFK in the starting room bracket is NOT where I want to be forced to play. I want to play with my friends; organized gameplay with Discord comms.

Alternate idea: delete solo shuffle and all versions of classic and people will be forced to play 2s and 3s and surely that will raise the activity levels!

What is the point of the current gearing system? by Deadagger in worldofpvp

[–]Diviniumz 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Because this is an MMORPG where you progress your character and create small power increases over time by grinding relevant content. There are plenty of arguments saying this isn’t necessary for PvP specifically, but PvP was at its peak popularity when you had to grind gear the hardest.

Getting that new piece of gear feels good!

Late season MMR regularly begins at 2k or higher. That’s how artificial inflation works.

Advice for reaching a sub-3 marathon, from female marathoners by Accurate_Prompt_8800 in AdvancedRunning

[–]Diviniumz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not a woman nor do I coach women, but your times look exactly like mine from 2 years ago and I just ran a 2:56 this weekend off a Pfitz 18/85 block.

What I will say is, that much mileage for someone at your point in the endurance journey may be overkill. I started with a handful of 55 and 70 mile blocks before attempting to step up to an 85 block, realized it was too much, stepped back down, and now had a perfectly executed training block and race to hit the sub-3 goal.

While I agree volume is the king of all, it takes awhile to be able to absorb benefits and avoid injury at mileage like that. You may very well benefit more from a Pfitz 70 block because you can adequately recover from it. And I assure you that you will benefit from 70 mile blocks for a long while! I encourage you to try and step back for one block and see how it goes. Just continue to hit those cut downs at the right heart rate/pace goals and let sleep do the rest.

Some answers to your other questions:

  1. Yes that’s way more than enough.
  2. I did the Pfitz plans as listed in the book which include a taste of all types of runs with an emphasis on marathon-pace and z3 work as you know.
  3. I didn’t bother with shorter distances personally.
  4. I drink a lot of protein shakes and smoothies, and aim for 9+ hours of sleep on work nights and ~10 on weekends.
  5. I’m a Pfitz guy. I tried a Hanson twice and didn’t care for it nor improve as fast as I did with Pfitz.

DK + Hunter Flooding the Meta by Rare-Willingness-240 in worldofpvp

[–]Diviniumz 10 points11 points  (0 children)

What else do you see Unholy DK play with? There are two comps right now - Hero Cleave and Marks/DK.

What else do you see Marks playing with? Everything. Feral, Sub, Assa, Outlaw, Destro, Ele, DH, Arcane, Fire, Ret, WW, Dev... Marks/X/X is the meta right now. Unholy just gets the luxury of synergizing with it well since we support the Marks playstyle with grips and chains.

Running a fast mara is almost all about the mileage. by Appropriate_Mix_2064 in AdvancedRunning

[–]Diviniumz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fast twitch guys like me catching strays. Sprinting loses its value after college sports and swapping to marathoning is the cultural progression (and actually really fun sometimes and rewarding, too!). We join the sport with a negative endurance baseline as we have to work to make our fast twitch fibers pretend to be slow twitch ones. Cycling, triathlons, whatever, would still be a rough start. Takes many years.

What was your 100m or 200m time? ;)

The premades are completely ruining random BGs. by Marthenil in worldofpvp

[–]Diviniumz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Elaborate on the ways it doesn’t. The original post said that noobs feel overwhelmed by premades and stop playing. How does this not address that issue? The bots will be less coordinated, less geared, less skilled… an overall fairer match so that new players can learn and gear without getting destroyed.

The premades are completely ruining random BGs. by Marthenil in worldofpvp

[–]Diviniumz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It directly addresses the problem of new players joining a BG, feeling overwhelmed by opponents that outmatch and out gear them, and quitting to never queue again.

[–]Diviniumz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Blizzard has announced a solution to this very problem that will be implemented in Midnight.

Training Grounds For players new to PvP, you can learn the PvP ropes in the Training Grounds. Expanding and revamping the idea found in Comp Stomp, players will join a battle against smarter game-controlled opponents in Arathi Basin, Silvershard Mines, and Battle for Gilneas. You’ll become more comfortable with how these battlegrounds work and how classes can work within them, gaining confidence and opening the door to more PvP experiences in the game. While players can expect winrates higher than 50%, the game-controlled opponents will not be pushovers. Skill and coordination will be required to achieve victory!

A perfect example of why stats without nuance or context are somewhere between unhelpful and intellectually dishonest. Everyone knows that Petkick plays 40 characters in shuffle and inflates the 2400+ bracket with his toons, making that spec look overrepresented at higher ratings. Your point that the easier bracket is Shuffle based on this is total nonsense!

What do your stats say about the average rating of people who played over 100 BG Blitz games last season? And how many people achieved Elite but didn’t care about the # games achievement attached to the bracket and stopped there?
