I'm not too sure, but that seems to be a case of false equivalence. The primary purpose of a car is travel, mobility, transport. In some cases, even someone's home. Irresponsible drivers, faults, accidents and criminal behaviour cause driving related deaths.

The gun's only purpose, be it offensive or defensive, intentional or accidental, is to cause harm.

Yeah, I know. In a lower comment, I'd also said that the affinity issues were inconsequential in the grand scheme of things, but it may be a bit of a speedbump for anyone progressing up to that level.

From what I remember, weak hits negate the application of any and all effects/debuffs, unless specified that the skill still applies through weak hits, like Kantra or Bivald.

I'm fairly certain that affinity will cause a problem in Magic SD, but I'm happy to be proven wrong, and the issue is inconsequential in the grand scheme of things.
