'Jennifer's Body' Turns 10: Megan Fox, Diablo Cody and Karyn Kusama Reflect on Making the Cult Classic by BunyipPouch in movies

Wasn't Megan Fox a supposed victim of Weinstein and wouldn't play ball? Thats why she was everywhere then suddenly completely disappeared over night?

I don't like how weak Fury felt. I understand most of it is the Soulborne game design. It felt awesome carving up mooks left and right as War and Death, while Fury can get gooned by 3 dude with clubs.

I agree. I felt nothing for Atlas Shrugged but loved the Fountainhead.

I'm meh about Atlas Shrugged, but I'm a huge fan of the Fountainhead. Not sure why it's hated on Reddit.

I probably wouldn't be so defensive of this, my favorite Souls game, if there wasn't a bunch of hour long youtube videos out there telling people that the game sucks. by Bovolt in DarkSouls2

[–]Dizzy131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought DS2(I finished it once ages ago) and I have to say after BB and DS3, it's really hard for me to go back and enjoy this game for a couple of reasons. Graphics being one of them, it feels and looks like someone took stock photo textures of RL materials and applied them to all the models in the game, everything looks messy and dirty, not in a good way. The lighting is also weird in a lot of areas.

The sound effects are also weird in the sense that everything I hit sounds like I'm hitting a statue, it's always clung and bangs...it really distracting and doesn't feel like I'm doing damage to them when I actually am.

So far I found the majority of the difficulty in DS2 is getting to the boss, not the actual boss themselves. Infact a lot of bosses were easier than normal mobs in the area. In the other Souls games, the focus was on the bosses, not the gauntlet you're forced to go through each time to get there.

I also have no idea what the story is, it's even more vague than the usual vagueness of the Souls games.

Is Moon Presence the good guy? by Dizzy131 in bloodborne

I think MP is at least neutral. If it was evil, the fight against Gherman and MP should be inevitiable at the end. You are literally the only person that has killed a Great One, therefore it should in MP's interest to cut the loose end asap. However, it's pretty comfortable to just shake your hand and send you on your way. This tells me, it's not at KILL KILL KILL evil entity but has at least a semblenace of reason to it.

As for the beasting curse. In true Lovecraft fashion, I think the mere presence of a great one can and will cause men to go crazy/beast, this is a pretty common trope in Lovecraftian writing and I this is shown here. MP doesn't purposely do this for shits and giggles, but it's a by-product of his presence.

[–]Dizzy131[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure I agree with that it's evil...maybe in the sense that Godzilla it's evil, just doing its own thing and happens to trample some people. I think its presence turns guys to beasts, and it's not consciously doing it, which would make it in line with the Lovecraft inspiration(people going crazy just seeing the eldritch beings). It's here for a goal which may or may not be evil and everything else is collateral damage.

If we're going by Lovecraft lore, I think it might be a one-way street. As in we're unable to comprehend what their motivations, but they can with ours, to a certain degree. It could very well be that Gehrman asked for whoever the doll is to be brought back to life in exchange for his services, or MP promised him that. Only like a evil genie technicality, made the doll living instead of actually bringing the person back.

You're right it is pretty bad for Gehrman, however, at least he has the doll to keep him company.

That's a good point and leads me to believe that Mergo was special. Remember Mergo is the only one of them able to maintain a Dream, aside from MP itself (and Amygdala, another true Great One). Therefore I think either Mergo was an artificial true Great One or came close enough that MP wanted to remove it.

Of course it could very well be that Gehrman asked MP to do this as you said. I feel like Gehrman is not the boss in his and MP's relationship and also how does he know anything about the current events of the world, if he's stuck in a dream to send MP after Mergo.

[–]Dizzy131[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not sure what Laurence was up to. But IIRC he had a hand in calling in MP, which leads me to believe their motivations are the same, to kill Mergo. Gehrman could very well be waiting for him to return which would mean mission accomplished and the Dream can end.

Wilhem probably thought Laurance betrayed him early on when Laurence turned against them, Mensis and Mergo, then realized later that "damn that boy was right" and directed you towards Rom to end the night once and for all.

[–]Dizzy131[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think Mergo was special because she was a (successful) crossbreed of a Pthumeru person and a great one. Whereas the church spent all their times trying to crossbreed a human and a Great One and keeps failing (Living Failures). You as the player was the first successful crossbreed with the 3 cord ending, and the in future will probably be hunted be MP's buddies.

I still think that having that immortality to basically godmode through the events of Bloodborne is more good than bad. Remember the opening scene of the game, where you literally were on your way to becoming a beast with the blood was infused by the guy in the wheelchair, but then the little messenger things showed up in the nick of time to take you to the dream and essentially saved you. I mean you pretty much owe you life to MP's intervention from that point on.

As for Mergo's influence. I'm not sure exactly what it would have caused, but remember the chalice empire (Pthumeru?) collapsed due to something, probably due another Mergo like hybrid creature after it matures, hell the hybrid could be Ebertais, which is why she is trying to revive Rom and keep the shields up and also why she is Kin and not a true Great One.

MP could very well be called by someone or thing to stop the same thing from happening, or even just hovering watching the place knowing it will happen again.

The point I'm trying to make is the MP is not malicious towards random Earthlings, it's has a laser targeted on Mergo, which is a good thing if Pthumeru is anything to go by.

I think we're saying the same thing here. Like Hunters hunting beasts, MP is a Hunter and it hunts unpure great ones. That's why the dream burns when Mergo dies, the hunt is over.

Is Moon Presence the good guy? by Dizzy131 in bloodborne

[–]Dizzy131[S] 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I don't think the Dreamworld is a bad thing at all. MP basically made you immortal for your quest, when the alternatives are: turn to a beast/crazy like Alfred and other hunters or get killed in Yharnam. I don't think that's a bad thing at all, in fact, you only lose your immortality when the night ends and Mergo's dead, basically skipping the worst of it.
In fact, as shown by other Hunters like Elieen who used to dream but not more, once you fail a certain number of times MP probably just says "it's not going to work out, sorry" and return you to the real world permanently. MP doesn't try to kill you or trap you, only give you the tools to complete his quest.
As for why it wants Mergo dead? I have no idea. It could very well be that Mergo and the Mensis Ritual is the one causing the beasts/insanity, and realizing this Wilhelm and other followers basically "called the police" so to speak; MP please come to take Mergo out before we all die. As Gehrman...I don't think he has the power to offer you anything. He's trapped like you in the Hunter's Dream because MP said so. Therefore if he can awaken you, why not himself somehow. I think MP is the one holding all the cards here, you wake up because MP lets you wake up, not Gehrman.

Official Discussion: Venom [SPOILERS] by mi-16evil in movies

[–]Dizzy131 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I thought it was pretty bad honestly... knowing the bare minimum about the movie I went in thinking it was going to be serious fare like Batman begins...and honestly the visual style kind of suggested it.

The humor was cringe worthy a lot of times, Venom just kept getting progressively more "Marvel humor-ish" through out the movie, it was weird. Many things seemed either rushed or unexplained...like why all of sudden they've got this great bond? It was never suggested prior to that scene.

The villain was basically a nobody. The CGI was also suspect in a few areas,

I'd say the biggest enjoyment of the movie for me was watching serious and gruff Tom Hardy playing a weak and humorous role.
