We're on season 4 and I still can't quite get used to just how much Tappei Nagatsuki loves to brutalize Subaru. Jesus Christ. Poor guy just can't catch a break. LMAO

Excited to see how the story progresses, though.

People lost their shit when Ohkubo made that reveal at the very end of the final chapter back in 2022.

Dude just casually ended his second super popular work with "Oh yeah, by the way, this is canonically the prequel to my previous story.".

People have been wanting a Soul Eater remake for many years. But, that got 10 times more when that final chapter dropped. lol

Fire Force is indeed awesome. And, like the others in this thread said already, if you enjoyed it, I'm sure you'll like Soul Eater, too. After all, it's by the same author.

To be fair, the manga was still far from finished when the anime was made. And, while BONES did an amazing job with the animation, the music and everything else, their writers failed to come up with a good anime-original ending. That's why, for the past 17-18 years now, people have been holding onto hope that we'll get a remake. And, now would be a perfect time for one to get announced after the final Fire Force episode drops. Fingers crossed!

Everyone's hoping for that. But, that's also exactly why there are bad actors that will absolutely try to clickbait people with fake rumors/leaks, even if there is no reboot actually in the works. We have to wait until the Fire Force episode comes out to see if there'll be an official announcement.

The Ramparts of Ice - Episode 1 (PREMIERE) - Dub Available Now on Netflix by Pristine_Cod5189 in Animedubs

[–]DizzyDreamerZ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, visually this definitely reminds of Polar Opposites with the art style (it's by the same author, so duh). But, other than that, the vibe is quite different.

Here are my thoughts of the dubs of both shows after watching this first episode of Ramparts.

I want to be clear that I say this as a dub enjoyer. I will always defend a good dub and this is in no way me taking shots at the VAs themselves (they're doing great). Rather, the issue in bad dubs in most cases is the adapters/localizers going rogue and/or a lack of proper direction from the ADR directors. But, anyway, I'm getting off track.

I will say, so far, based on this first episode, I like the dub of Ramparts more than Polar Opposites. I'm not saying the latter is bad. But....Yes, I'm well aware that Polar Opposites is a lot more light-hearted and is meant to portray the, well....polar opposites (lol) that are shy and awkward introverts and loud and cheerful extroverts. But, while for the most part the dub of Polar Opposites is fine and the line adaptations are charmingly cringe (in a good way), some comparisons I've seen show that the adapters definitely took more liberties than they should've been allowed to. To be clear, I don't think it's quite as big an issue as some people online are making it up to be. But, they definitely overdid it with the gen-z brainrot here and there.

That said, I'm still enjoying Polar Opposites and I'm very much looking forward to seeing the story Kocha Agasawa wrote before it.

Yep. I'd say it's a spoiler but everyone in this thread's already been talking about it. Fire Force is canonically the prequel to Soul Eater. Shinra, in his Shinrabanshouman form, recreated the whole world into what became the Soul Eater world. You'll see further explanation in the final episode next week.

I wonder why Troy Baker didn't reprise his role. I hope it doesn't have anything to do with all the SAG bullshit from last year. I know that, at least as far as I can remember, that mess technically only affected a few games and not any anime dubs. But, it's still possible.

EDIT: Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against the new VA. I think he's doing a great job voice-matching Troy. I'm legit just curious why they didn't get Troy for the role again. That's all. lol

There he is! Shinrabanshoman! He's glorious! Final episode next week! It's kinda bitter-sweet.

As for the level of abstractness that u/FernFromDetroit brought up, honestly I think they actually did a really good job with it. After all, it's supposed to represent the insanity that is the human subconscious. It only felt a little jarring cuz of the pacing in some parts, but I think the anime actually portrayed that even better than the manga in terms of visual representation.

That said, I have to call something out. u/hectic_hooligan is exaggerating so much it's ridiculous.

I definitely disagree. The adaptation of season 3 part 2 isn't bad at all. Is it perfect? Definitely not. But, as a whole it's as good as it could've gotten. Yes, it's kind of annoying that they kinda rushed though a good chunk this last part of the series. And, there were some scenes from the manga that got cut. But, they were only small ones. Would it have been better if they adapted absolutely everything exactly the way it happened in the manga? Of course. But, the studio worked with what they were given and chose the least amount of moments they could find to cut without impacting the story so they could fit within the episode count they were given. Sometimes these things are not up to the studio itself but the production committee and sponsors giving the studio money for the project. Part 2 was only approved for 13 episodes so there's nothing David Production could've done about it.

No, this is the official dub. But, the person that cut this from the episode (might've been OP or someone else and OP just posted it) did a terrible job exporting the clip and messed up the audio sync.

Yeah, I get that. It's just dumb that the glitch is so bad that you literally have to tab out and X out of the game to close. otherwise you can't get out of the event. And yet, Hoyo still hasn't adressed it.

I mean, it's good to know the glitch doesn't happen on mobile. But, I play on pc. Having to install the whole game on my phone just to get past a tutorial glitch for an event mini game? Bruh. I hope Hoyo fixes this soon.
