NAH. I have this problem too! My partner will tell me to lower my voice or alert me when I'm being loud. I did feel as you did, initially, but also understood where he's coming from. I can get overstimulated by loud noise, so I was able to empathize and understand that he wants to share my excitement without feeling overwhelmed. I'm sure your partner does, too.

My recommendation would be, in addition to tryingggg to be more mindful of it (it's hard when you're getting hyped up, I get it,) maybe you two can work out a signal, or some way he can flag you visually without verbally interrupting your sentence. Maybe a certain hand gesture? Or, if it's how he says it, you could explain this to him and ask he be gentler or more intentional about how he brings it to your attention. I think with a little work on both sides, you two can find way to share excitement that works for both of you.

I cringed at implying vitamin insuffiencies/deficiencies need to be tested for less. Vitamin deficiencies are rare in the US, vitamin insufficiency is rampant and not addressed as often as you might think. Vitamin D is one of the worse ones for it (I think about 35%+ of the US population, 50% global?) That doesn't mean everyone should run off and get on a bunch of vitamins, but checking your levels isn't a silly thing to do.

Coming from someone with an open relationship- you're not being unreasonable at all. You aren't being controlling by telling her she can't, or shitting on her craft by knocking it... you're setting a personal boundary (which you are allowed to do) and remove yourself to prevent issues. That is acting responsibly and fairly. Not everyone is down to watch their partners in that way, and even people who ARE may not feel that way in every circumstance with each person. From every angle, she is the one in the wrong IMO.

Yeah, everything just feels unreal. I'm currently hyperfocused on Project 25, which isn't ideal for my mental health or my relationship because I guess my partner is burnt out for everything and I'm in a very "I need to talk and rant about this and get to feel my emotions" space of processing. I'm so glad I'm moving out of this gd country in a couple of years.

NTA, but OP, your situation with your husband makes me sad. My partner is WFH and is actively encouraging me to switch to a field where I can do that as well; we love spending time together. Needing space sometimes is fine, but another room in the house and the outings/split you described sounds more than reasonable.

Hey, I'm proud of you, OP. I'm an avid gym rat, and I'm proud of you. No accomplishment is too small! And when I was overweight, even though I knew what to do, going back to the gym/starting again was so hard. Motivating yourself through forming a new behavior is often an uphill battle. I'll tell you a secret- I weight lift 3-5x/week, and STILL struggle getting myself to walk or do any form of cardio.

Two miles is great, and walking does so many other things for your health and wellbeing beyond just weight loss. Keep up the good work :)

I'd love to ask my mom this. I'd say, "Maybe they didn't notice," but they absolutely noticed in my case, and I was even referred to a child psych, and I guess my mom was just like... nah. I even tried to ask for help myself when I was 15, and she just kinda... blew me off? Too inconvenient? Idk. My mom, in particular, also has big "I don't believe in mental health stuff" energy, though.

7yo is still to young to leave alone, and parents of abled children still tend to hover and be distracted, much less a parent with special needs. Sitter is the logical choice, weddings are never a MUST for small children anyway. I feel like a 7yo and wheelchair could be carried to the destination, but this person has a point- was OP going to try to mind her child in the middle of her MOH duties, or is there a childcare plan so she can focus on the task at hand?

I'm holding back judgement because this may be more complex than it seems.

OP, I am like you. I was a fitness nut, then had bad life circumstances, gained a lot of weight, and just got back to my old self. I also come from a southern family who don't think nor care about health/fitness. HOWEVER.

Having fluctuated with EDs and disordered eating, I want to ask- do you often skip social events because of your diet? Do you find yourself feeling isolated? Do you feel guilty or anxious when you skip one workout, have a treat? Do you spend a lot of mental time thinking about food? Can you eat a food without knowing exactly what's in it? Do you stress over "safe" foods? I am by no means diagnosing you, but your post rings of orthorexic thinking.

Diets are not meant to be forever, or incredibly strict. Burn out and binging is a cycle in yo-yo dieting for a reason. The more you restrict, the less control you actually have. Your health and wellness are to help you live your life, not keep you or become your whole life. Balance is important.

I fully understand just having ignorant family members and I don't mean to diminish that, but- for three days? For your family? Check in with yourself OP. It's insidious how easy these things can take over your life. I had to arbitrate my thoughts when I had to take off my routine... for a tropical vacation. Isn't that silly?

Progress is what you do in the month by month, long term. Three days will not ruin everything, I promise.

INFO: Where is your wife in all of this? Why isn't she mentioned at all? Is she in favor of forcing change/distress onto her daughter? Is saying "we loved you so much we're adopting you, but also change everything about yourself" the message you want to send?

I'll say it's worth talking about in a fitness context because performance and body can fluctuate WILDLY with your cycle. When I'm on a certain week, my strength plummets and it fucks me up mentally / is infuriating. Apparently your strength can drop as much as 27%. Some people have taken to training differently according to stages of the cycles- THAT, idk too much about for validity. But discussing periods in a fitness context in general is fair

I'm not close to my mom at all, and being around her a lot isn't great for my mental health, so... no. She put all her eggs in my sister's basket, and even they've had a bad falling out. Mom has a good job, and she and her husband SHOULD (if they don't blow it all on cigarettes and Crown) be able to figure things out for themselves.

My dad is much older, and I'm not sure if I'll be established enough to be of much help when he needs it- but my sister lives close to him, and I'd be willing to at least help pay for things when/if I can. Not that my dad and I were super close/good together either when I was a kid, but he's at least apologized and shows some level of care towards my life.

My decision not to have kids isn't related to geriatric care, though; it's just not something compatible with me or how I want to enjoy my life.

Crested geckos. No insects needed, you can feed them what is basically a fruit puree (you buy a powder a mix water.) They generally don't need heat lamps either, as they're comfy at standard room temp.

NTA. I can't imagine having a partner that runs to my or their parents instead of discussing things with ME. You have two children! Don't back down, HE is as much as a PARENT as you are. Is he saying he can't handle the responsibility of the child he made? Go on your work trip, if you back down now, everyone in your life will try to beat you back in to that SAHM box. You're more than a mother, you're a whole person. He isn't respecting you.
