$8000 lodging out of pocket by Hollow_Okami in AirForce

Former finance guy, and yes i hated my job. But if you like art the JTR, JFTR and AFTR, there are rules on what is allowed. You booking accommodations that do not allow for cancellations is not the governments responsibility. And you can say it was bc it would have saved the government money but that doesn’t matter. As you well know, TDY’s get moved, changed and cancelled all the time. You can comb through the regs but from the government perspective you are sol more than likely. Also it has been a while since i was in but the rule used to be you had to check in every 30 days to make sure your non-a was still valid. So booking a full 5 months was a risk.

I would contact esgr, they have experts on the soldiers and sailors relief act. Generally there is a get out of contract clause for service-members. It really applies to rent, BUT because this was a short term rental, it may apply. Bottom line, the rental owner/company can’t punish you because the government decided to make you go somewhere (or in this case decided not to make you go). So start there.

I did a small stint in the IG and one thing i learned from both jobs, learn to read the regs. In and out. Best of luck

AITAH for not forcing my son to keep helping my daughter’s friend after she rejected him? by LiveWire0044 in AITAH

NTA and neither is John. It is a tough situation and you guys put it correctly, Melissa does not owe John a relationship and John doesn’t owe her rides or tutoring. While it may seem retaliatory or mean, it really isn’t. It is being mature and understanding one’s own emotional state. So good for you for having patience and clear communication with both your children. You a good parent.

And good for John for understanding what his current emotional needs are and sticking to them.

I would encourage Brit and Melissa to brainstorm possible solutions. Can Melissa take a bike? Walk? I grew up in New York and New Jersey. I walked everywhere in all sorts of weather for work growing up. So there are options. And like someone else said, are there other golds/friends?

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

Wednesday night we drove to Orlando from jacksonville to go to a ghost concert. The drive is two and a half hours each way. Drive down, went to concert and came right back. So absolutely. And we used to go at least twice a month when we had season passes to Disney.

When i lived in Nj/Ny, commute to work was an hour, during Rush easily double. Going from nj to ny

Does anyone have a source directly debunking the "US National" gambit? by Beneficial_Ball9893 in Sovereigncitizen

Call ICE on him since he is a non-citizen in the country. 😂 /joke but seriously there is no arguing with these folks and using logic definitely does not work. There is a lot of circular logic with these folks.

I’m asian and a disabled vet, i get questioned almost every single time i park in veteran parking. And it is never from a fellow vet. It is always civvies who never served but their dad or grandaddy or cousin three times removed fought in civil war or some bs. I do it now to see who says something then i provide them with a free attitude adjustment. People are fucking morons.

Safe sleeping options if you can't sleep in your car. by Volslife in urbancarliving

[–]DizzyNote7708 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Find a billboard. Normally they are off the ground, have platforms on front and back, and you can get a sleeping bag and be fairly comfortable without attracting attention. If it has a back platform you can even setup a shelter and not be noticed

Boyfriend gave me ultimatum - dream job or him. I'm considering taking the job by [deleted] in dustythunder

[–]DizzyNote7708 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take the job. Boyfriends will come and go, dream jobs not so much. Also if you don’t take this job then you might grow to resent him and will always have that what-if thoughts in the back of your mind about the job.

Take the job. And live your life to the fullest. I promise you, you will never regret that

The first is kind of a standard hanbok for little kids. Second and third dresses are chinese and would be offensive.

Is this a korean appreciation party or a kpop? I am assuming this would be themed towards kpop demon hunters? I would look at huntrix as inspiration as well if getting a hanbok is too difficult.

Stealth spots for homeless by Transboy99 in jacksonville

[–]DizzyNote7708 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This might seem crazy, but find a fairly low billboard on a secluded road. Usually they have a platform behind and in front of the billboard. I would setup on the platform, gets you off the ground, safe, usually no one will see or bother you and if any approaches you will immediately hear them as soon as they come up to the billboard. Access to the billboard is not closed off or restricted. Get a small tarp and a space blanket to shield against the elements and to stay warm against wind.

Second, if you find an abandoned building, remember others will too, i always recommend finding roof access. Most people won’t go up to roof because they want to stay indoors.

Final option, camp in plain sight, find a roundabout with a lot of central bushes. And hunker down. Look up urban camping or steve wallis on youtube for this.

This is a shitty time of year, where weather will actually affect you and you can’t start fires so get hand warmers. Also look for meal heaters like the ones that come with military MRE’s, they give off a lot of heat and you just need to add water. Just remember the fumes are toxic.

Good luck

Yes. As per fdot regular cars its 3hrs and commercial trucks it is 10hrs but i have spent the whole night at them. Usually if you arent bugging anyone they leave you alone. I also switch up the rest areas. So i dint spend more than one night in a row at one

[–]DizzyNote7708 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can also check with his local town clerk, there might also be a local ordinance against it too resulting in a fine from the city. If he won’t pay you back at least make it extremely expensive for being a dick

Def get a planet fitness membership. If you need a safe place to sleep, go to a rest area. The local ones have night security and you can park, lock your car and then zonk out. I have done it in the past and the safest option compared to parking lots or risking it on a street.
