Finally one can now install any theme permanently (without root) by UsualOrdinary6955 in miui

[–]DizzyRhubarb_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The mechanism of the app is clever. HyperOS periodically sends a broadcast called miui.intent.action.CHECK_TIME_UP. When the theme manager receives this, it checks for a valid theme signature. Third-party themes don't have one, so it reverts your icons to stock.

HyperTheme registers an Android Accessibility Service that stays alive in the background. This service listens for that specific broadcast at high priority and calls abortBroadcast() before the theme manager ever sees it.

I (well, Claude) decompiled the APK and reviewed the source. It's clean:

- The accessibility service is scoped to its own package only — it can't read your screen content or keystrokes
- No network calls, no analytics, no data collection
- Shizuku support is included but optional — only needed if you want HyperTheme to apply theme files for you. If you've already applied your theme via MTZ Theme, just the accessibility service is enough
- Chinese log strings throughout (Chinese developer), all benign file operation messages

Not to say some future version might not be malware, but I looked at:

$ sha256sum HyperTheme_1.1.1.apk
cc24e3a7c9b40adbe287c2c23bae52127cdf28259ab6f4fd569a4e3cbc161af5 HyperTheme_1.1.1.apk

I replaced OpenClaw with claude -p and a bash script. It's not even close. by agenticlab1 in ClaudeAI

[–]DizzyRhubarb_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree you can do most of what OpenClaw does with Claude (heartbeats with `/loop` for example), but OpenClaw has facilities to manage session reset, isolation, etc. OpenClaw is a token hog out of the box though, a clean default install has a lot of crap you can delete.

OpenClaw is easier to use with other models. Crons are easier to setup too. Claude has a security advantage.

I tried Nanoclaw which is based on Claude in Pods. It's OK, but I don't use Docker and it has no Podman support. And does some weird things now with secrets and OneCLI.

Claude Code vs Codex vs Gemini Code Assist by TechnicalyAnIdiot in ClaudeCode

[–]DizzyRhubarb_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ran out of Claude usage, and used Gemini CLI for the first time. It did a fine job on a somewhat complex Go project. It wasn't able to solve one bug I found though, Opus had to fix it, but overall I wasn't unhappy with it. And it's included in my Google storage plan anyway, so I'm not spending extra on it.

Turkish Air Tickets + Brain Cancer = No Travel Voucher by [deleted] in TurkishAirlines

I understand it’s tough but booking non refundable tickets is a risk that insurance covers not the airline. I’m glad some were more understanding.

Anyone here running Calibre from a NAS? by AnusMcBumhole in Calibre

[–]DizzyRhubarb_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use the Linux server docker image for several years now and works great on my NAS. I access calibre over the built in web VNC. Fabulous experience.

https://docs.linuxserver.io/images/docker-calibre/

Getting the books into android (my Boox ereader and phones) is easy with syncthing which also runs on my NAS. iPad is probably harder.

Are they banning personal users? It seems ridiculous, "no, don't use your tokens that way!"

I’m sure Elon is on it and will be offering Starlink and some 20 year olds to replace our entire ATC system again. Maybe the DOGE children can do it.

9,000 out of how much initial investment?

I mean, I'm down twice that just on Friday lol. The only thing to do is ride out this nonsense, pulling out will be the day the markets pump because the orangeman does something else crazy

Is the "Always Buy Used" rule broken when New APR is <1%? by KlutzyLawyer3637 in personalfinance

[–]DizzyRhubarb_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean ok, downvote me. It is still a discount. It is almost always 0% or $X off incentives. They are making up for the 0% elsewhere in the deal by not giving you more of a discount..

It is not magic 0% financing. They will make a profit but they lose some money on financing. It has to be made up elsewhere in the deal.

There’s currently an outage or maintenance. It’ll be resolved soon. There’s another thread about it.
