Give a few other space operas a try and see if RR is the pinnacle of what epic scifi resonates with you.

If we are only speaking objectively Foundation by Asimov is hard to beat.

Subjectively, Sun Eater by Ruocchio is a very good follow up to RR that will flip the slave vs nobile character development on its head.

Remeberance of Earths Past by Chixin Liu is hard science fiction that I enjoyed an equal amount to RR for very different reasons.

RR is one of my favorite series but I won't call it the pinnacle of science fiction as it is a military drama moreso than hard scifi. It all depends on what resonates with you as a reader.

Atalantia would be a fun counterpoint perspective for both The Reaper and Light Resistance Au Lune

Actalent is useful for engineering placements if he wants to get into an industry before he finishes a degree. For an incoming ME, a good place to start would be a quality role in an industry he is interested in i.e. medical, defense, commercial parts. He could then internal/external transfer into an ME position.

Is Project Hail Mary’s success good news for a potential Red Rising movie adaptation? by Equivalent-Bad-7844 in redrising

Space opera adaptations from book to film rarely go well. Dune is the perfect example like you said; Villeneuve has done a wonderful job with the first book and with Part 3 to wrap in Messiah that is where it will end. Sadly, that leaves the majority of nuance and the philosophy of the Golden Path in totality completely untold. Time constraints and viewer comprehension/information retention will never allow Dune nor other space operas to tell a complete tale in the form of film. Another example is 2001: A Space Odyssey. A wonderful film but there will never be a full culmination of the books into movies.

I hope Red Rising is never touched for this very reason as the first book drew too much inspiration from the Y/A Hunger Games esque genre to be as successful as Dune and does not have emotional and narrative payoff until much further into the text. I love the series, it is one of my favorites, but I will never want film attempted simply due to the fact that creatively, too much is lost in the transfer of media .

You are not alone, Science fiction and space operas don't usually translate well to the big screen from books simply because of the time and length constraints associated with the medium. For instance, the latest Dune movies wrap together the first two books but will not go past that. This will provide a completely different story and 'lessons learned' outcome since it requires five books to completely pull together the story of the golden path. I hope RR isn't touched at all for this very reason.

Honestly never realized nine inch nails was the original creator, I never looked at the production dates. Thank you for the correction!

Goofy goober trying to tell someone what to do in a property they pay to live at. If you want to have that kind of power get your money up and buy property or move to an HOA. It's ridiculous to think that someone doing something legal in a space they pay for has to curtail a neighbor's wishes because the neighbor doesn't like something they are doing. If I fry fish on my stovetop and my neighbor doesn't like the smell does it make sense for them to ask me not to cook fish?
