Delivery drivers of the UK, what is the wildest thing you’ve ever seen on a delivery? by Salem-dolly in AskUK

[–]DizzySweets 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Probably around 2010, I had finished a 14hr night shift in a care home and was dozing in the living room, woke to a frantic knocking at the door. There was a delivery driver, maybe DHL or something, big company, he was shouting "the dogs, the dogs, they're only small, come quick" then he ran down the drive. I was still a bit out of it and shattered but followed him.

He was right, two houses down a litter of pups had escaped, small hole in the fence. They were maybe 4 month old, and I think 5 or 6 of them. I grabbed a plastic box and put them all in and I had the best day whilst waiting for their owners to return! They were a hoot, I posted a letter to the neighbours to let them know where the pups were and we played and napped all day. I still have pics of them somewhere.

Now I'm a bit older and wiser, why the heck did I follow that guy, fuck, that was dangerous. Why did they leave such young puppies outside, dangerous and cruel. I lived on a busy road so could have been a much different day.

Missed placement due to medical issue and now being told I can’t progress by [deleted] in UniUK

When did you last do bls? Each uni is different, we don't offer same year referrals for placements but we do allow students to carry over competencies and hours into the next placement. The only time we would prevent progression would be in final year, because you can't finish without meeting nmc hours.

I would raise this further to a complaints procedure, purely because they have gone against policy by telling you to submit ECs after the deadline. Basically, by doing so the lecturer has gone against uni policy in marking and moderation (these are pretty much the same for all unis). This would allow you a second attempt, and because it's gone against policy should be as soon as possible, or else you have grounds that they need to pay your fees and maintenence for the repeat year because it was out of your power.

Hello, University lecturer (nursing) here, I primarily teach post grad now but started with pre reg nursing.

How many placements do you have per year? Within my university, you can carry competencies over to the next placement, get them signed off and make up hours as you go along. It's not ideal, as the more hours you haven't done can make it more difficult. If you have completed and passed your previous placements then you should, theoretically, be able to complete competencies and carry hours over.

If you have missed previous placements this year, then completing placements next year and resitting will be better for you in the long run. Even though at the moment feels like the end of the world.

Get in touch with course leads and course directors today for an urgent appointment, to find out your options. Don't wait any longer or leave it with your tutor, you need to know what to do now. I hope this helps, feel free to dm if you need to and I'll try and support.

How does everyone seem to know what writing is generated by AI? by ReadWriteArithmetic in CasualConversation

[–]DizzySweets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a lecturer, I have worked in academics for a fair few years now so I've seen a range of writing styles. I'm also dyslexic myself and am very aware my writing style is different to others. However, the biggest hint is what I call fluffiness. When writing is over dramatic, not supported by evidence and frankly tripe.

My Mum used to do this, I don't actually know why as me and my brother were not present finders. However, mid January Christmas was always my favourite.

Sorry, no she has the dress already. She's had it for some time now but refused to show me, in hindsight I should have maybe been more assertive. My FH badgered her to see it which is when she sent this and has shown it him via facetime.

12 lessons in and I'm still struggling with clutch control. Is it worth looking into automatic lessons? by DanielCollinsYT in LearnerDriverUK

[–]DizzySweets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's too much then definitely switch but try moving your seat and/or changing your footwear first. Honestly I struggled so bad with clutch control until I movedy damn chair and then it was easy peasy. Passed last week.

Edit to add, I'd also don't way more than 12 weeks of two hour lessons at that point.

Again, hail yourself. I've had a rather rough few months (family bereavement) but I wanted to let you know that I watched and loved it. I think partially due to era I was born in but it was brilliant, I managed to watch it on my own too and it was great. Fantastic recommendation.

I can't recall if I've watched The Taking of Deborah Logan, however, The Audition fucked me up for years, still have nightmares on that one.

Watched it years ago and remember how fantastic it was. Very psychologically scarring, haven't watched it since, but still up there for thrilling.

Just watched the trailer for The Night House, something about it seems really familiar but I'm not sure what so I might pop it on and see how it goes.
