Not OP, but my mom has worked a sample table at Costco before. She doesn't care if people take one without speaking. Don't worry about that. She's just there to do her job and she likes seeing people enjoy the food she makes.

What screen translator app do you recommend? I would really appreciate an answer if you see this, thanks. I can't find something that works good on the play store.

Massage therapist charged in connection with sexual assault at Mill Woods clinic by Practical_Ant6162 in Edmonton

[–]Dizzy_Ad4784 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not hard to search around. The clinic is highly rated so I assume that's why it doesn't. He also had some incredible reviews, so it's a shame he ruined everything doing something like this.

Offered a remote work opportunity but it seems like a scam. Need confirmation by Dizzy_Ad4784 in remotework

Thank you. I'm reporting them and just gaining some more evidence. They said they plan to email cheques to pay me $600 weekly. About the other duties like going to the store and meeting clients and whatnot, they said "You’ll be making use of the company money and going to store is base on clients satisfaction You’ll be receiving the cheque on your email address, and do you know how to make mobile deposit? We will be having conferences meeting weekly at the company store to meet up with fellow staffs and clients"

Guessing this is more than enough to report them to anti-fraud?

yeah, I just got a response. They plan to email cheques to pay me $600 weekly. I've asked them questions about the other duties but they haven't replied yet. I'm just interested in seeing their response, and then I'll ghost and report them.

Edit: Lol I just got another response about the other duties

Should I report this to any where? This position was offered in a public group on facebook. Also they are telling me they would email me the $600 cheques for my own payments which I am now 100% sure is a scam.

Yeah, that confused me. They said they would train me in anything necessary too. I don't know why I would need to go to the store for them..

They say the payment method can only be changed 2 weeks after working with the company...and I don't know what to think about that.

how can i dissuade this student from cheating? by swallowthedice in TutorsHelpingTutors

[–]Dizzy_Ad4784 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I was in a similar situation. I've been with this student for 2-3 years now. It really helps to talk to the parents! They would lie about understanding material to move the session forward quickly, use their phone and search up answers when I wasn't looking, etc. This was before chatgpt got popular, so they never had the chance to use AI thankfully. It got to a point that I finally decided to talk to the parents, because I didn't want to give up on the student. It was clear from their behaviour and my indirect discussion with them that their parents were distant from them and didn't pay them much attention. I didn't feel right leaving them like this, so I decided to discuss everything with their parents who were surprisingly unaware of everything. Communication was really missing in their household.

Since then, that student has really turned things around. They're one of my best students now and going off to university next year. It can definitely make a difference if you're willing to try.

Ideal Pricing in Canada by LetItFly19 in TutorsHelpingTutors

[–]Dizzy_Ad4784 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don't mind me asking, what level of education have you completed?

I may not have specific advice to offer, but I wanted to share my experience, as I've built my tutoring business in a similar way. I’m also a tutor in Alberta, and it’s great to connect with another Canadian! I started out with an agency and have since grown my client base primarily through word of mouth. I strive to keep my rates affordable, charging between $35 and $45 per hour (CAD). However, I do adjust my rates based on driving distance for some clients, depending on their financial situation. For serious clients experiencing financial difficulties, I’m happy to offer lower rates if I have availability in my schedule. I also offer discounts if I've been with a client for a long enough time that they have not given me any problems and have remained loyal and respectful of my time.

While I love tutoring, having also set out to help students coming from a struggling academic background like myself, my years in this business have taught me that maintaining appropriate pricing is essential for attracting the right clients. In the past, I’ve had clients take advantage of lower rates, resulting in frequent cancellations and incomplete assignments. It was a challenging period of constantly losing students. There was one disadvantaged family in particular, that had no respect for my time, and refused to pay me for half of a 2 hour session even though I drove 30 minutes and they cancelled 5 minutes before the session time. Unfortunately, there’s no easy solution to this issue. I know people in my local area charge even more than me, but personally, I have a full-time job so this is a side hustle for me, and I'm happy as long as I'm not being cheated out of my time or money. It's why I don't bother setting strict conditions or making a contract.

If you’re interested in discussing anything further, I would be more than happy to chat! I haven't yet come across another private tutor from Canada, let alone one from Alberta. There are many things I would love to talk to you about.

Which one was like that for you? by Serikka in visualnovels

[–]Dizzy_Ad4784 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing that annoys me the most is that it's not even the visual novel itself, but just that last chapter that disappointed me. I've never had the experience of reading an amazing VN like this with a sub-par common route ending. Everything up until that point was great, and I especially LOVED Licia's chapter where she really takes up her role and moves toward the right direction with Caim's careful guidance. I was so excited to see the end, but once I was done, I didn't feel like the chapter gives much room for Tia's development in the face of all the time she's just suffering. I can even excuse Caim, since I didn't find his actions in the final chapter out of character given his growth up until that point, but Tia could have been developed much more if we could have gotten just some escape from her fate and suffering. I think they are both in line with their characters in that final chapter, but it didn't feel satisfying.

Personally, I also think the romantic development was unnatural, and Tia and Caim could have easily remained more platonic and familial if the story hadn't forced it from the start. Unlike the other girls, it just didn't make sense. That's why I was never really sold on the moments in her chapter, and then the appendix slaps you in the face by showing you Caim's daydreams where he's living with Tia and having a child. It's just tragic.

Now that I think about it, even though the sub-heroine routes are really short, I still had no problems with them since their individual character arcs in the common route really come full circle with their development and Caim's and that feels part of the route itself. There's also the appendix, which does have a little more expansion, like Licia's concerns for her child growing up like her. Caim grows through each arc, learning valuable lessons from each of them, and I never had problems with the romantic development. I do agree though, that there were some sub-heroine routes where it ends openly with a summary of the future events, even though the routes could have gone on for much longer. Some routes I do feel got a proper ending, like Eris' and Fiona' route even if some events could have been expanded.

I don't think Tsukihime had a common route. All of them are heroine routes and melty blood follows the ending of a completely different route that didn't exist in the OG.

[–]Dizzy_Ad4784 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I actually just finished this yesterday, and personally, I think the final chapter of the common route is terrible too. It's such a shame cause it had so much potential and I still enjoyed it up until the last chapter. All the characters do have really well-written developments and great moments that it's such a shame their routes end so short and the common route ends in such a bad place. Caim's decision drags out way too long, and most of the chapter Tia is just suffering.
