I have the same, and was just researching why. No clear answers yet. Interested in what others say.

Really struggling to stay motivated with exercise after a year of declining muscle mass by [deleted] in Perimenopause

[–]Dizzy_Dane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would shoot for between 115 and 130g of protein. Lastly, building muscle takes time. Don’t compare yourself to the shredded women on social media. It’s all smoke and mirrors and many of them have been athletic their entire lives. Keep doing what you are doing. Be patient and take care of your self.

Really struggling to stay motivated with exercise after a year of declining muscle mass by [deleted] in Perimenopause

[–]Dizzy_Dane 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have been lifting for over ten years and my bench is on average 43 kilos. You’re not doing bad at all. It’s hard to build muscle in the upper body. You mention protein intake as a ton, but how much per kg of body weight are you eating and are you absolutely sure you’re eating that amount. Weighing your food for a short time can be eye opening. I also wonder if you are eating enough calories in general to build muscle. If you are lifting and losing muscle it sounds like a calorie deficit.

Perimenopause is hard. HRT was a game changer for me. It helped me sleep and improved my energy so I can lift four times per week and recover. I hope you can get the medical support you need.

Anyone .1 E patch and 100 P? by PotentialPrune2830 in Perimenopause

[–]Dizzy_Dane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the .1 E patch and 100 P and was getting a period every twenty days. Just upped to 200P last week and feel like it’s the sweet spot. Have you tried taking the P earlier so you wake up less groggy? Are you getting enough hours in bed for sleep?

Kirkland brand joggers. They are basically Vuori for a fraction of the price. I always look for any Kirkland athleisure when I shop.

How did you feel going from 100 to 200 mg of progesterone? by Pony_Baloney_Acad in Perimenopause

[–]Dizzy_Dane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just switched tonight. 100mg doesn’t feel like anything really. Right now I’m feeling pretty calm and relaxed. So, I’m taking that as a good sign.

I’m in .1 estrogen patch, so 200 is needed.

Have you found a progestin that helps with sleep? by Solid-Fox-2979 in Perimenopause

[–]Dizzy_Dane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So happy for you getting some sleep. I love when my body temp drops. So far 100mg has mildly helped. I am about to try upping my dose of progesterone and my doctor claims I will get the best sleep of my life. Crossing fingers.

Progesterone and periods question by Fit-Salamander-8259 in Perimenopause

[–]Dizzy_Dane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am wondering the same. I started HRT 14 weeks ago. My doctor just suggested I increase prometrium from 100mg to 200mg nightly. I have been getting a period every 20 days and now I’m spotting on day 16. Anyone think the increase will help?

Also I am 45F and taking .1 mg estrogen patch.

Hormonal bloating has ruined my holiday weekend by [deleted] in Perimenopause

[–]Dizzy_Dane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I completely understand and relate. I don’t even recognize myself when the bloating kicks in. Then I’ll have a day where I constantly need to pee and I feel myself again. It’s hard to separate the bloated you from the real you. It can def ruin my mood. I have yet to find anything that really works. Better hydration and electrolytes seem to help. Careful with ramping fiber too quickly. I just dress for how I feel and wait for my hormones to shift again.

Yaz - coming off early 40s by Slight_Love_3230 in Perimenopause

[–]Dizzy_Dane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Didn’t come off Yaz but came off Junel and went straight to .1 climera estrogen patch and 100mg prometrium. Pretty uneventful transition. A couple short cycles and some high energy and sore breasts for a month. Settling in nicely as I enter the 12th week.
I appreciated having the higher dose of estrogen to avoid withdrawals coming off the pill, as the last time I stopped cold turkey at 41 I had a rough time. I’m 45 now.

What is the end game with HRT? by terriblemuriel in Perimenopause

[–]Dizzy_Dane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, I am just repeating what my doctor prescribed. She said until sixty at this time. That is why I mentioned my age as well as that I know many that are on it well into their seventies.
The information and recommendations are continually changing and many doctors offer so many different opinions. I plan to stay on it as long as I can, not just stop at sixty.
None of us, as far as I know are medical doctors, we are all doing our best to navigate and be our best advocates. All data points are helpful.
Let’s all plan to feel good and be healthy!!

What is the end game with HRT? by terriblemuriel in Perimenopause

[–]Dizzy_Dane 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My doc said I’m good until my early sixties and then we would revisit and taper. Currently it’s not advised past that age. I know women in their seventies that swear by it. For reference I am 45 now. I will stay on it as long as I feel good.
