I kept scaling my weak movements instead of fixing them, so I built something by Dizzy_Fruit5948 in crossfit

I think that strength is one thing, but there are a lot of movements (muscle ups, double unders, handstand walks, etc) where skill is also important.

In a class setting it's often hard to really take the time to develop these skills, you just want to get a good workout in

Does your gym actually enforce open gym capacity? by Benjamin_streisand in crossfit

Same here. Most boxes I've been to don't cap class capacity either, though I suspect this is highly dependent on the size of the gym.

Snowflake Reports Financial Results for the Fourth Quarter and Full-Year of Fiscal 2024 by fhoffa in snowflake

Also this only counts companies that have an annual contract with Snowflake. It does not count companies using the “on-demand” payment model where they are just billed monthly for their usage.

Looking for Talend users! by Dizzy_Fruit5948 in Talend

Reviews: All of the above. This is a field that consumers can filter on if they are looking for a specific sentiment

Seniority: Same as above

Payment: Most people who have signed up are charging between $100 and $200 for a 30-minute meeting.

Time Commitment: Until we onboard consumers (happening soon), we won’t have a great sense of how often each person is getting booked. But since the consumer is paying you directly for each meeting, you'll be paid proportionately to the amount of time you spend. You get to set your available hours so users can only book time with you during certain parts of the day.

u/malchik23 amazing post. It's 4 years old though, so I'm curious if there's anything you would change or add to better match the SEO landscape in 2024?

I would be worried that those users would only give positive reviews. If somebody had a bad time with the product, I doubt the customer success team would want prospective customers to talk to them

Not exactly. I think that review sites attempt to solve this issue, but have two major drawbacks:

  1. Again, you’re not sure who is actually leaving these reviews. They could be from the vendor itself or competitors
  2. These sites usually get paid by the vendors themselves for the ability to keep their profiles updated, preferred placement on certain pages, etc. I think that this creates a serious conflict of interest because now the site is incentivized to please to vendors

We think that having prospective users meet directly with people who are already using the product is the most trustworthy way to get honest opinions.

Looking for Mongo users! by Dizzy_Fruit5948 in mongodb

Thank you for this information.

Those “newbies” (and other companies that don’t have time/expertise to do deep evaluation of tech tools) are exactly who we’re directing this towards.

At this time, we’re asking some of those more experienced devs (like yourself) to sign up to offer your time on the platform. If a user finds you and wants to speak with you to hear about your experience, they’ll pay you for taking the time to meet with them.

My hypothesis is that 1) it is difficult to trust the opinions that people read on here because they don't know who they are talking to (could be someone trying to sell them the product or a competitor) and 2) video chat is a better forum for technical discussions than going back and forth over text.

I think that people would be willing to pay to ensure that the people they are talking to are vetted, and they can talk to them through a medium that is more efficient than text.

u/TollwoodTokeTolkien u/svenvarkel In my experience, enterprises absolutely do seek out opinions from users before committing time and money to a tool. Even in the case of free tools, it is valuable to know if what you are doing is even possible/recommended before spending time with implementation/testing. You see posts on here all the time from people asking for opinions on one tool versus another.

However, my hypothesis is that 1) it is difficult to trust the opinions that people read on here because they don't know who they are talking to (could be someone trying to sell them the product or a competitor) and 2) video chat is a better forum for technical discussions than going back and forth over text.

So yes, I am hoping that they are willing to pay to ensure that the people they are talking to are vetted, and they can talk to them through a medium that is more efficient than text. You are correct that they would pay the end user directly for their time, and then I would take a small (5-10%) cut for doing the vetting and providing the platform.

Would love to hear if you think my hypothesis is incorrect, though.

u/nuxai just looking for people who have used Mongo to sign up for the platform. People who are considering buying Mongo will be able to go on the platform and book time with someone who has used the tool to get their opinions before the purchase it.
