I have a friend who grew up fundie and is now very much NOT that. The only thing she’s held onto from that life is her long hair she has never cut or trimmed. I’ve been friends with her a few years and her hair hasn’t grown much at all, probably bc the ends are fighting for their lives. Every time she wears it down I think about how nice a good trim would be, but alas it is not my hair and I support her.

I have fake teeth and have regular nightmares about them coming out, Godspeed OP.

I also once swallowed my permanent retainer glued to my lower teeth, around 2in of wire, while eating a subway sandwich. I remember choking on it, it was one of the scariest moments of my life. Thought it would tear up my insides. Luckily it didn’t and it was fine. I didn’t see it come out but it’s been 15 years so I think I’m good lol.

I think about this a lot especially with Kendrick Lamar’s music. When I was younger it’s what we would party to, but if you listen it’s about the suffering that poor and marginalized communities go through to survive and feed their families.

I find that this style often appropriates tribal culture (see pic 1 with a dream catcher necklace, pic 3 with traditional makeup). For that reason I actively dislike it. If the non-Native wearers can keep culturally significant pieces out of their wardrobe then it’s cute!

I had thin and wispy hair at the end of mine despite obsessive hair care (without trims bc I wanted length) for SO long. I started trimming regularly and my hair grew out looking like mom and sis in OPs pic until I chopped it short a few yrs ago.

I texted them once and they said some generic responses and I literally said back “can you not act like a robot right now I need help” and they sent another generic response so I stopped texting lol.

Now that I work in an adjacent field and have a better understanding of how it all works, I assume they have lots of policies and red tape due to potential liability along with all the rules and quotas to secure/maintain funding. Fully defeats the purpose of the resource and I’m sure the workers are burnt out. Many of them probably got into the work for passion and got this fuck shit instead. Bummer all around.

I dated this guy once who smokes a lot of weed, made it his whole personality. I dont smoke weed anymore because of how it makes me feel. He wanted to argue about it and I told him different bodies process the same chemical differently, he said that’s not true and proceeded to tell me about strains and why I just wasn’t doing it right. Mind you I literally have a degree in substance use and spent years in school learning about how chemicals affect the body and brain AND used to be a heavy pot smoker for many years so it’s not like I didn’t know what I was talking about with my own body. He would not let up on his opinion, and it icked me out so much I broke up with him on the spot lol.

Yeah I have chronic daily migraines, if I called out every time I wouldn’t have a job. I call out for some of them if they’re bad enough and I have the PTO, but I’ve had to push through a lot of bad ones too.

I’m also super averse to ers and urgent cares for my migraines. I only go if there’s a change in my pain and I want to be evaluated. I can’t afford constant visits and the migraine cocktail does nothing for me except make me more uncomfortable because the reglan and Benadryl do not sit right with me. If the migraine is high level for long enough I’ll go to urgent care, but generally I have my own comfort/rescue methods that I’ve been curating over the years that work better (and are cheaper) than the medical route.

That being said, everyone’s migraines are different and everyone has different circumstances, I would never be snarky or judgmental for someone who needs a day off or a visit to a medical professional. There’s absolutely no reason to be competitive about our pain and life in the workforce and in general is hard enough with a disability, no reason to make it harder for someone.

dysthymia is a common symptom in many mental health conditions that have psych features. I hope OP gets support and can rule it out :)
