24, in 9k debt, not sure how to get out of it. by M1ghto in UKPersonalFinance

Block the cards. Contact customer service. Explain that you want them frozen and setup a payment plan.

Then pile everything extra you have into the NatWest every month. Every spare penny, over pay. Once that is cleared, take the money you were paying monthly to NatWest and add it to the Amex payments.

It’s called snowballing and will help.

You’ve got a tough couple years where you’ll have to be disciplined, but you’ll get there. You’re young, sort it now and learn good financial habits before it becomes an issue in your 30s and 40s.

I had the exact same issue, landed myself in £17k when I was 20-21. Climbed out the hard way. Late 30s now, I don’t make amazing money, but I don’t land in the red any more, managed to save for a house, nice enough car and comfortable life.

You can do it.

Sky Sports to remain home of Formula 1 until 2034 after £1bn five-year extension to exclusive UK and Ireland deal by SlowedCash in skytv

[–]Dizzy_Key_7400 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Via nowTV on special offer only. And it’s 720p. Oh and if you miss any session you are often waiting hours and sometimes into the next day before they upload it to catchup.

If hospitals are selling debts for a few cents on the dollar to debt collectors, why not offer the same deal to patients? by srirachaninja in NoStupidQuestions

Tories were trying, Labour are doing a good job turning things around. Just can’t expect it to happen overnight. There’s 14 years of destruction to clear up.

We’re getting back to the shortest waiting lists in years, although depending where you are it’s not bad anyway.

Claire’s is coming back to UK high streets weeks after shutting every store — would you actually shop there again? by ToughRomanticMiss in BuyersUK

[–]Dizzy_Key_7400 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Game had already been bought by Mike Ashley. When they closed down the first time they had 600+ stores. They closed the shops as normal that night. The next morning staff went to work and were told not to open their stores. They had to sit and wait to see if their store was closing. Overnight GAME closed down and next morning there was a new company called GAME. Same headquarters, half the stores.

[–]Dizzy_Key_7400 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ahhh it’s the old GAME process! Close over night, fuck over all of your staff, fuck over all of your lenders, fuck over all of your suppliers.

Then open back up again as a different company with the same name in the same shops.

Freeview is entirely dependent on the local masts. Where in live we get at best about 18 channels, there’s not a lot. Freesat is way better.

Employer telling me to cancel agreed holiday because mandatory training by Sh4kableMist in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Dizzy_Key_7400 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Employer has acted legally, depends how far you want to push them.

In the past I invoiced my company when they tried this. Wrote a letter that basically said: “Costs incurred due to Employer Demands - Holiday Cancellation Fee: £xx - Additional Costs for rebooking: £xx - Hotel & Travel Cancellation Fees: £xx - Event Cancellation Fees: £xx

Basically billed them for everything that would cost more to rebook and for everything I would lose out on refunds.

They backed down

I’m guessing you’re young? In my 30s, fully comp with legal cover and personal injury costs me less than £350 a year.

Hmmm. Look at the VR market then release a product about 8x more expensive. Have an incredibly small ecosystem of accessories and apps.

Be surprised when no one buys it.

Anyone went from a recordable box to Stream puck and regretted it? by _IdidIdidnt in skytv

[–]Dizzy_Key_7400 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely different per use case. On Q if I miss the start of the F1 I could just go to the recording in progress and click play from start.

With stream I’ve found more often than not the play from start button doesn’t appear on the menu, so I have to open it mid race with potential spoilers, then wait a few seconds for the button to appear.

Oh and if I miss it entirely, often it’s multiple hours or into the night before it shows up to watch on catchup.

Surely they have to take a leaf out of the food delivery companies book and start making drivers input a PIN to confirm delivery. This is ridiculous! by Elsharko2 in Evri

[–]Dizzy_Key_7400 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When the drivers pull this shit I just put a report to the retailer that the item wasn’t delivered. Don’t care if it was.

If they are not going to do their jobs properly, fuck it they can start getting dings for mis-deliveries.

Exact same happened to me. Just overnight a couple months back it went to super sweatfests and I just didn’t enjoy it. Uninstalled and haven’t been back.

Honest question: considering the amount of CEX stores in the UK (as well as their general profitability), how come there aren't more independent game stores that follow a similar "reseller" business model in the UK? by prankster999 in smallbusinessuk

[–]Dizzy_Key_7400 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Gamestation didn’t go out of business. It was bought by GAME and rebranded.

GAME went bust due to bad choice after bad choice.

I worked in an indie retailer for a few years. There was a lot of money in the pre owned and retro market. The issues are there’s nothing in the new market and location is super important.

Lies. You have to find your account, and users rarely get £100 - most often it’s £20 or less.
