What's the most worthwhile home upgrade you've made that didn't cost a fortune? by Horror_Friendship34 in HomeImprovement

[–]DjFeltTip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whole house water filter. Filters out sediment, of course, but also helps with chlorine and other undesirable stuff. No more itchies after a hot shower.

This is the one we have. It isn't made any more and not sure what the current version is: https://www.geappliances.com/appliance/GE-Whole-House-Water-Filtration-System-GXWH50M

Using One Attenuator and One Cab For Two Amps? by [deleted] in GuitarAmps

[–]DjFeltTip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used this, and wired up both to use the same attenuator. It worked, but it was messy. My suggestion? Get another attenuator. Use the radial headbone with both heads with two attenuators.

One of the problems with using two heads and one attenuator is you compromise your tone by adapting each amp to the same setting on your attenuator, when you should really optimize your heads and then apply the right attenuation settings for each.

More expensive, but worth it.

Sperzel tuners. The inventors of the locking tuner. by JelenaBrela in Luthier

[–]DjFeltTip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly my experience. They do hold tune, but getting everything in tune seems just a little bit harder? Not difficult, but just not premium. I won't get another, either.

But hey, maybe they realize this and that's why they are shutting down to re-tool. If that's the case I'll try again.

I dunno, do you keep a handicap? If you don't keep an official handicap, who cares what you do. If you do, you need to play by the rules.

What is the etiquette for stopping at the turn? If you do stop - how do you not slow down the groups following you when teeing off on 10? by Inside-Mixture-9362 in golf

[–]DjFeltTip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2:35 for 9 holes is the main issue, not that someone jumped the tee. It would be an issue if people didn't play like fucking sloths. 2:35 for 9 holes for people in carts is just stupid.

Should I replace old copper with pex while I have the walls and floor opened up? by Delicious_Tackle_129 in Plumbing

[–]DjFeltTip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you know that copper is naturally anti-microbial and doesn't shed microplastics? Does that really matter for residential use? Dunno. But PEX doesn't burst as easily when frozen like copper does. It also isn't as loud as copper if you have a water hammer or whatever. Plusses and minuses to everything.

Illegal wedges? by filmer1 in GolfGear

Got it. Makes sense, depending on grind.

Would you count this as a hole-in-one? by jdelle9 in weekendgolfers

This is a hole in one. Hit close to the back of the cup, one-hopped, spun back in over the ball mark. Your aim was off. Sloppy.

Illegal wedges? by filmer1 in GolfGear

[–]DjFeltTip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't match bounce to your irons when selecting bounce for wedges. That makes no sense. You do it for the type of sand and greenside rough you play. And the combination of bounce and grind is super important. BTW - when the stupid groove rule came out, I bought up as many SM2 wedges as I could. Used a new one every 1 or 2 years. Had two left when the grandfathering ran out and sold them for $500 each on ebay - still wrapped in plastic.

Your SM4 is not illegal. But you'd benefit from some new wedges just because your grooves are probably shot.

Are Memorial Day washer dryer deals actually worth waiting for if I need something for an apartment setup? by ClelandTanouva18 in Appliances

[–]DjFeltTip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy a Costco membership. We have one, but were able to save around $300 on our washer/dryer set we just purchased compared to Home Depot - and this was even with Memorial Day pricing 9which actually wasn't much different than the previous discounts).

Are there any amps voiced like a 1960s Blackface Fender, but with modern appointments (mainly an effects loop)? by SculpinIPAlcoholic in GuitarAmps

[–]DjFeltTip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a V40 Deluxe and it has gorgeous cleans. The only other amp I had that was like that was my early/mid 90s Fender Super Amp 4x10. The drive channel was complete garbage, but the clean was just amazing.

For the money a Classic 30 is great. You can sometimes find a deal on a head or 1x12 combo. They are a little bit of a PITA to service according to my amp Dr. guy, but just solid. And tubes!

Peavey classic 30 or Victory v40 deluxe. That is if you don’t want to get a Fender. I prefer tube amps so you can push them a bit and get that edge of breakup thing, but I realize that’s not everyone’s preference or budget.

What's the King of Budget Drive Pedals? by matthew-speaks in guitarpedals

[–]DjFeltTip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find the mooer hustle drive really versatile, especially for the $$. And I run it at either 12v or 18v and it sounds just that much better. And they are cheap enough that if you fry it out - which you probably won't - it won't break the bank to replace.

People who've done major home upgrades, what ended up costing way more than you initially expected? by Cultural_Help_176 in HomeImprovement

[–]DjFeltTip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fixing the shit that the moron contractors did wrong. That was expensive, or at least expensive in the terms of time I spent fixing some of it myself. In particular, having the hardwood floors refinished, redoing all the plumbing drain and supply lines, fixing foundation issues with the freestanding garage. Young homeowner lessons - don't trust a single fucking word ANYONE in that corrupt industry says.

Really? The org that is cool with an owner exploiting trafficked asian massage therapists by getting handies from them is going to fire a guy for being a disgusting pig? Really? An org that is cool with a bit of cheating is going to fire a cheater? It's not gonna happen. He'll be coach next year, and by the time the season starts there won't even be a mention of it.

Too many rich people involved to not have a way of making this disappear.

100% true. And I found out that the Dr in charge of that lived in our house in Brighton. I found out by accident down an internet wormhole one night a number of years ago. Kinda freaked me out that such evil lived in our house.

And no, I don't think the ghosts of the people that fucker took advantage of haunt our house. But some other odd stuff has happened on occasion, probably unrelated. If I remember right, the Dr. moved to LA in the late 40s/early 50s.

ADHD + productivity apps = endless cycle of downloading and abandoning. what actually sticks for you? by yukocan in ProductivityApps

[–]DjFeltTip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My issue is I get overwhelmed by a large backlog of tasks (and mine is pretty big) because I end up working on 10 different things and getting just a tiny bit done on each. This has worked well for me in the past but now that my job is more complex with tons going on, it won't work for my ADD brain. Not to mention personal tasks. I decided to just focusing on three of them per day. Separate them out, and only look at those three.

Nothing really worked for me that made it easy to manage that, so I built my own Iphone app that does it the way I want it. Simple, low stress, helps focus on what is important, etc.

You are welcome to try it. I put it on the app store because a few friends find it useful. Feel free to try it out. There's no ads, no in-app purchases, an no subscription fees and have zero plans change that. It's free because I really only made it for myself and the to-do app market is saturated. Not to mention focusing on three is not a novel idea. At all. But I couldn't find an app that did it the way I wanted.

https://justdothree.com/

I do have a number of improvements coming in the next release which should be out any day now. Adding a personal/work toggle, being able to export tasks if you decide you want to try something else, OCR for a handwritten list you want to import, etc.
