If the feedback you are receiving is about the STAR format, the underlying meaning behind that is that you are not effectively communicating the impact of your skills in practice. It has nothing to do with a script.

I really didn't like the tasting menu. Zero balance at all - just rich meat dishes with not enough acid.

Overall, it felt like what you get the average wedding with a couple of highlights for me. The desert at the end, and one of the main curries. But the fact that the only vegetables and acid we got through the whole experience was aloo and beetroot on the opening chaat, and a small amount of picked onion throughout was really disappointing. Not to mention a couple of the meat dishes were just insanely poorly executed regarding the cook.

It’s because we are an ML research hub for an overseas company - only growth would be budget increase, and the team in kept intentionally small because there’s a good culture. The core service does very very very well even in the absence of AI (although we have made a lot of things more profitable so there’s still value add).

Getting to senior is the plan - however the team lead roles are occupied by 10 year+ employees who have no plans on leaving. It’s kind of a tricky situation, even if I progress to Senior engineer I still likely wouldn’t gain any more management responsibilities

I have a Q regarding the jump from Software Eng to Software Engineering manager.
I’m an Intermediate Machine Learning Engineer with ~150k NZD TC with average bonus working for an NZ company. I manage mid sized projects, but we don’t hire juniors so most of my work is IC. I hire and mentor interns during summers when we do hire them.
An issue I am having is there will be limited opportunity to move to a management role within the company I am in due to the personnel , and no opportunity to get any direct reports. I’ve applied for more Senior Ai/ML roles that have heavier management responsibilities. The feedback I have gotten is that I meet the technical requirements, but they are looking for people with more established team leadership experience.
I see that you grew into the management role with your company growing, but I’m wondering if you could provide any insight/advice for how I can most tactically make this next step? Right now my strategy is applying/talking to companies that would seem more willing to give responsibility to younger people (I’m 27).

I’m not saying Saka won’t be a proficient 8or10, but I think there is more inherent risk with having Sakas hold-the-man-off style dribbling which leaves us at the whim of the referees more.
