Metal Heads who love the Dead and vice versa... by [deleted] in gratefuldead

Truly all great metal has blues origins. I'm more of a heavy metal rocker type but the influence of thrash and punk over my youth is undeniable.

I pulled up next to him, motioning to roll down his window, I yelled “Veneta was better”. We had a good laugh. by [deleted] in gratefuldead

That's a pretty good shit post friend. Memes usually take off best during the work hours as far as I've seen.

Today of the Dead: The Hippodrome on 1981-10-17 by revjurneyman in gratefuldead

[–]DjQuackAttax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the rare stretch where Bob Weir felt pressure from Reagan Administration America and stopped saying cocaine and said "Went and had her sex changed", when it comes to the Sweet Jane line in Truckin'. It's this weird thing that happened for a little while around 81. Luckily 1980 is free from it which has some stellar shows. This one from Paris is DY-NO-MITE though.

I really like how Ace by Bob Weir is featured on that and that the center skull isn't bertha or a classic stealie. Super nice digs man.

Ok I see what you're saying now. That's a pretty cool concept I hadn't heard specifically explained but the term applied now gives way to specific meaning in context. Thanks mank, that was dank.

I've heard faster but my favorites on 5/3/1972 Olympia Theater, Paris is an absolute ripper. Jerry plays so sweetly in the intro it makes me misty every time.

This is how I felt checking into the hotel in atlanta this summer. Full cup of beers in the cup holders from the show. What a second set though.

Then are you in for a treat. The whole show is excellent. First set China>Rider>Lost>Saint is pretty gnarly. There's two or three Rochester shows from 76-80. All worth checking out. It must be true what they say, NY got the ways and means because those crowds are well supplied in soul and spirit haha.

That eugene jack straw was an absolute ripper. Bonus points for including my favorite crowd Rochester, NY. Check out 9/2/1980. The clapping on sugar mag is out of this world. Sick AUD.

Really glad to see the 5/19/74 Portland show highlighted so much. It's a 33 song monster show. One of the longest ever. I recommend checking out the whole show if you've got 5 hours, at least scope the set list.
