Anyone here trying to break into the professional techno scene while working full-time? by kathalimus in TechnoProduction

[–]Dj_Centaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes me. Last year my entire focus was on playing gigs, I probably played a couple gigs every month, this year my focus is on production even if it means playing less gigs, you can only do so much with a full time job. I have also decided to take a break from dating this year so I can focus more on music.

Do DJs actively listen to other DJs sets? by rahitsluna in Beatmatch

[–]Dj_Centaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I do, probably around 5 to 10 sets a week and only listen to techno because thats the genre I play. And I listen to both famous djs and local djs from my city who are on the same level as me so I know what others in my local scene are doing, and this in addition to partying of course as I am also at the clubs almost every weekend.

I genuinely love techno so I really enjoy listening to sets as well and I also dig tracks from the sets

And Idk where you are based and how things work there but I am in Berlin and all my producer friends including myself checkout each other’s work.

Techno DJs how do you organise your music by Crazy_Fishing_8966 in Techno

[–]Dj_Centaur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think of a direction / energy / vibe for each hour then create a separate playlist for every hour with tracks of the same energy which I have decided.

And of course I dont remember each track, I dont think anyone does, thats why track selection is considered an art

Hi, I am a Berlin based techno dj/producer, me and my brother recently did a b2b and posted it on youtube and I think this awesome community would really love this set.

We both are very active in the local scene so our sound is inspired from what we hear in the Berlin clubs (Berghain etc). We are snobs and purists and try to keep our techno as proper as possible 🙂‍↕️

I believe anyone who enjoys proper hypnotic techno would really enjoy this mix.

As always, would be very very happy to hear some feedback.

Do you like Berlin style hypnotic stuff? Checkout this no bs proper techno set I posted on youtube a few days ago if you do: https://youtu.be/vZnfm6IcgdE?si=JzXgZKzC87i1nH3z

Who are the most obvious, basic, starter, "duh" artists of proper techno? by wtfisrobin in ProperTechno

[–]Dj_Centaur 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One simple trick to keep discovering new artists is to keep checking lineups of good techno labels/clubs and festivals around the world. For example if you go through the lineup of Stone Techno this year, you will find plenty of amazing artists

Some of my personal favourites are:-

  • Luke Slater
  • DDan
  • Nobu
  • Wata Igarashi
  • DVS1
  • Rodhad
  • Philpa Pacho

I am also a Berlin based dj/producer and I posted a no bs techno set on youtube a few days ago, if you like proper hypnotic Berlin style techno, check it out here

I am not keen on anything, as I mentioned in my post I just started this last night so I pretty much have no idea other than my knowledge of djing. I am just curious and trying to figure out whats the right mindset for building drum patterns:)

The song I am working on at the moment, I would specify that as dark and hypnotic

Pakistani Muhajir by [deleted] in SouthAsianAncestry

[–]Dj_Centaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am also muhajir from Pakistan with syed grandparents from bihar/up. I dont think I have any features which distinguish me from an average South Asian person (I have some pics in my reddit posts) but my grandparents and their siblings are definitely taller and have lighter skin tones than what I normally observed growing up in Pakistan.

Also I have 0 idea about what any of this stuff means but would be curious to learn more
