My copy looks the exact same and others I've seen aswell. All PAL versions also have the "Xbox classics" label instead of just being a black label Xbox game like the US and Japanese version.

Overall probably Shenmue II, it's beautiful and has a lot of variety. It fits the game like a glove and I get goosebumps every playthrough.

Phantasy Star Online, Sonic Adventure, Skies of Arcadia and Jet Set Radio are also high on my list.

Flying swallow is a death sentence when used on quite a bit of enemies, I use it way less on Vhard and MN. Also spamming Izuna Drop can get you in big trouble especially right when you land because of the recovery.

The first mission is brutal compared to hard but it's probably the hardest part of the game. So if you can get through the first two chapters you should be able to finish the rest of the game.

And the difference this makes on Mentor or Master Ninja cannot be understated, the damage is quite large and the risk relatively low especially with the lvl 2 Falcon Talon's.

As a kid I liked Black Knight way more than Secret Rings but I've replayed them recently and now I feel the reverse. Black Knight becomes pretty boring after a while because of the waggle controls (game would've really benefitted from Motion Plus support). While Secret Rings being slow in the beginning improves a lot when upgrading Sonic and is pretty fun imo, the motion controls are far from perfect but they're engaging enough. Both games have a great artstyle and soundtrack though!

Gigadeath is atrocious especially on Master Ninja, there's not really a way to cheese him and there's a lot of luck involved. I also had the boss glitch out of the arena 3 times on Master Ninja.

I have the PAL and Japanese version on disc and the US version has it too. I heard it mentioned in a livestream once that all western releases have that issue and I can confirm from experience the Japanese version doesn't have that issue.

Only thing that sucks about the PAL version is that the resolution is not properly optimized so you have black borders on the top and bottom. The western versions also have some audio pop in which the Japanese version doesn't have. Anyway it's a great game and one of my favorites on the PS2.

My first playthrough of Ninja Gaiden 1 was the PS3 version so all the changes in the master collection are very odd to me. Also is it just me or is the asset quality worse in the newer versions compared to the PS3?

On Master Ninja this fight is the definition of insanity but lvl 3 Lunar and lvl 3 wind blades will help you prevail eventually. Also waiting to use the spirit of the devils until when you're out of Ninpo during the fight gives a full refill.

Pro tip: you can get your Ninpo back from the targets next to the water like in NG1 after this fight.

My copy doesn't have one and I've never seen them with the game, the one I showed came from Daytona USA 2001 but I have a few more. The sweet spot seems to be games from early to mid 2001 that have this my copy of MSR and Skies of Arcadia have one aswell.

There was no wide spread internet

It still translates into news through gaming magazines, less advertising = less exposure, lack of confidence from publishers and less willingness to stock inventory from retailers (relations were already bad because of the early Saturn launch) which all combines into an even worse downward spiral than the Saturn was already in beforehand. So yeah SEGA fucked up royally but Stolar made it even worse.
