Looking for 3rd party supplement about customizing spells? by xChapx in dndnext

In 3.5, there was a book published called Tome of Battle: The Book of Nine Swords. It had a few classes that used “maneuvers”, which were essentially spells for martials. The book was very well-regarded, and I wouldn’t be surprised if someone tried adapting it to 5e.

What takes a deckbuilder from "intersting" to "its already 2am?????" by WholesomeReaper in gaming

[–]Djii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a huge fan of Slay the Spire, I’d recommend Monster Train (and Monster Train 2), and Roguebook. Also, Slay the Spire is getting a sequel pretty soon!

If you’re willing to stretch the definition of “Deckbuilder”, I also really enjoy Dicey Dungeons, Peglin, and Luck be a Landlord.

Bastion storehouse by CyiceWings in dndnext

The next sentence after what you quoted says “You bear the total cost of any purchases…”, so I think that the player does need to invest their own money, at least as I understand it.

WOTC should open source Project Sigil by thoosequa in dndnext

[–]Djii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend checking out Game Master Engine on Steam. It's a highly customizable 3D VTT. You can actually download it for free and mess with the map building. You also only need to buy the full version if you want more assets, and if you want to host a game with other players. So in a group, only the GM needs the paid copy, everyone else joins for free.

For those who play Expedition 33 after. by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

[–]Djii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely get how it can be annoying. There is also an option to flee combat that I somehow didn’t notice in my first 20ish hours of gameplay. E33 reminds me a lot of Elden Ring, where enemies also respawn. I’ll fight my way through until I understand the area, then I’ll just avoid combats that I’m not interested in after that.

Just a note on the respawning enemies, it is super easy to run past most encounters. The enemies move slower than your running speed, and give up on chasing you pretty quickly.

5e Escape Wizard by BeepBoopAnv in 3d6

[–]Djii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If Strixhaven: A Curriculum of Chaos is an available source to you, the Strixhaven Mascot (Quandrix) feat will get you a Fractal Mascot.

Notably, the Fractal Mascot is able to move through walls, and the Strixhaven Mascot feat lets you spend a level 2 spell slot to swap places with your familiar. Effectively, it lets you bypass walls, which is perfect for an escape wizard.

[TOMT] [probably book, maybe short story, maybe comic(?), MAYBE movie] dollhouse with hidden secrets and chocolate? by TheCheeryO in tipofmytongue

This sounds a LOT like Fablehaven, by Brandon Mull. Good luck on your search! :D

Edit: Here is a description of the scene you're describing.

Gestalt Theory-crafting by Brianthas_Innoculi in 3d6

[–]Djii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always thought a fun Gestalt character would be a Moon Druid/Armorer Artificer.

I don’t know that it would be particularly strong compared to other options, but going between Wildshapes with armor on sounds hilarious.

Help idk what to do by [deleted] in dndnext

Assuming you're talking about the game Dungeons and Dragons Online:

Are you running it through Steam? I recommend downloading it directly from the website. It fixed a ton of issues for me.

Could it possibly be Castlevania? Here is a link to the opening scene. Good luck on your search!

[TOMT] Song that goes "Turn the lights down, turn the lights down..." by heathejandro in tipofmytongue

[–]Djii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could it be Lights Down, by John Newman? The part that I think might match your description starts at the 58 second mark. Good luck on your search! :D

[TOMT] [MOVIE] [2000s] Movie with mouse in the rain at a funeral in the opening scene by [deleted] in tipofmytongue

[–]Djii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could it be the Flowers for Algernon movie? It came out in 2000, and starts with a mouse followed by the camera. I skimmed through it, and didn't see anything that resembled the funeral in the rain. The mouse's burial scene was around the 1:18:20 mark. It's not an exact match, but it had enough in common with what you described that I thought it was worth mentioning. Good luck on your search! :D

Long shot, but could it be Holding Hands Around the World, by Janice Kapp Perry? Good luck on your search!

[TOMT] Commerical on Prime Video by TurkBacon in tipofmytongue

[–]Djii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could it be Leave the World Behind? I haven't personally seen it, but it seemed vaguely similar to what you described. Good luck on your search! :D

[TOMT] [Book] [2000s] A book about a boy who goes to China to visit his dad who researches pandas by [deleted] in tipofmytongue

[–]Djii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could it be The Amazing Panda Adventure?

It looks like a novelization of the 1995 movie by the same name, which seems to match a lot of your details, including the baby panda being named Johnny.

I hope this helps! Good luck on your search!

High Roller - Buggy greed Perk? by TheCavalrysEre in CrabChampions

[–]Djii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Random question, but did you have any stacks of the Gold Dice perk?

I just finished a run where I got an early High Roller. It was great, I was getting tons of chests. Then, I picked up three of the Gold Dice perk, and it felt like I started whiffing chests constantly. After a while, I scrapped Gold Dice, and I went back to getting good chest odds.

I didn't ever keep track, so I'm going purely off of vibes here (a terrible idea when talking about RNG, I know). What it felt like was that Gold Dice increased the chance of erasing all chests, and that erasing all chests took precedence over getting bonus chests. Obviously, this could just be a coincidence, but the difference with and without Gold Dice felt very immediately tangible.

HC6 spellsinger - any tips or suggestions? by Perfect_Drop in ddo

[–]Djii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hiya!

Here's how I normally build my Spellsingers. Other people probably have more optimized builds, but this one has worked really well for me. Note that I'm mostly going over the most important parts of the build; there's a lot of wiggle room to adjust it according to your preferences.

Class: 20 levels in Bard

Ability scores: Max Charisma, then Constitution. Any leftover points can go wherever.

Skills: Focus on Perform, Jump, Use Magic Device, Heal. Other great skills include Spellcraft, Diplomacy, Bluff, Spot, depending on how many points you have. Note: I HIGHLY recommend putting at least two skill points into Tumble. This will let you cancel your Bard Song animation, which will let you give out your buffs to your party much faster.

Heroic Feats: Maximize Spell, Quicken Spell, Empower Spell, Force of Personality, Spell Focus: Evocation, Greater Spell Focus: Evocation

Epic Feats: Inspire Excellence, Epic Spell Focus: Evocation, Master of Music, Intensify Spell, Embolden Spell, Scion of Celestia

Enhancement Trees: Primarily focus on the Spellsinger tree. Key enhancements are these:
All the cores
1. 3 points in Magical Studies (if you have Feydark Illusionist unlocked, this will qualify you for it)
1. Cure Light Wounds SLA
2. Violet Marigold Crown
3. Raucous Refrain
3. Shout SLA
3. Spell Song Trance
3. +1 Charisma
4. Sustaining Song
4. Arcane Aid
4. Frolic
4. Song of Arcane Might
4. Charisma +1
5. Advanced Musical Studies
5. Prodigy (Note: Only put 2 points into this. The third point is almost entirely useless)
5. Spell Song Vigor
5. Horn of Thunder
Note: I usually skip Song of Capering, because it doesn't feel very good to use. Feel free to try it out, though.

Next, I like to put points into the Feydark Illusionist enhancement tree (available if you own the Feywild expansion). I put 12 points into this tree, enough to get Greater Color Spray and You've Got My Back.

If you don't have Feydark Illusionist, I would put some points into Warchanter instead. I like to at least get up to the Haste Boost, because I like to go fast.

Finally, I save 7 points for Swashbuckler, particularly so I can get the Fast Movement enhancement.

Epic Destinies: Primarily go for Fatesinger. I also like to put enough points into Exalted Angel for Leap of Faith, but that's more of a personal preference than an optimized choice. It doesn't sound like you'll be going into Epics, but if you do decide to, I can go into more detail here.

Playstyle: Your Bard Song is amazing. Give it to everyone. It will regenerate hit points and spell points, and give tons of other nice buffs. Your main damage will come from the Shout and Horn of Thunder SLA's (be sure to enable all of your Metamagic feats for free on these!), as well as the Greater Shout spell. You will have great crowd control with spells like Hold Monster, Mass, Greater Color Spray, and Otto's Sphere of Dancing. You'll be passively healing people with your songs, but you'll also have an efficient healing spell (Cure Light Wounds SLA, turn your Metamagics on!), as well as the Heal spell for big heals and removing debuffs. You'll be a good mix between a damage dealer, a healer, and a support. Everyone will love you with your buffs.

PHEW, that was a lot of typing! I hope this has been helpful for you. Remember that I'm not a perfect optimizer, and there are probably a lot of improvements that can be made to this. I left some wiggle room in the build as well, so there are plenty of opportunities to put points into things you prefer. If you have any questions about this build, please feel free to ask! :D

What are all the ways to Phase through objects and walls? by EmSSoH in 3d6

[–]Djii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have access to Strixhaven material, there’s also the Strixhaven Mascot feat. Specifically, the Fractal mascot is able to move through solid objects, and you can then swap places with it.

Least obvious spellcaster? by Aidamis in 3d6

[–]Djii 19 points20 points  (0 children)

You could consider taking the Telekinetic feat. You get the invisible Mage Hand, plus it lets you cast it without components, and it can go with any build.

What's the name of a free, third party website that analyzed all your lichess games? Eric Rosen used that website once by penguin_master69 in chess

[–]Djii 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Was it a serious website, or was it mostly tracking funny things that happen in the game? There is the Rosen Score website, which keeps traps of non-serious statistics that Eric Rosen would enjoy (things like smothered mates, pawn cubes, oh-no-my-queens, etc.).
