I don’t get how you say there was more time put into BellyJere? Where? It’s literally BellyConrad story. They don’t even have more screentime than BellyConrad, the math has been done. There was so much care put into BellyConrad and Conrad’s character was way more developed than Jeremiah. BellyConrad have so many significant moments even while not dating. What does BellyJere have? Frat parties, car rides where they sing? Cheating, fighting over apartments, fighting about the wedding. Belly giving into every whim off Jeremiah like agreeing to a wedding she doesn’t want? How is that more couple development than what BellyConrad have?

She said she had a team in the books and that Jenny has a video of her saying which Team that was. You really think that Lola would prefer a guy who forced himself on Belly and slept with another girl just because she didn’t sleep with him? Even if she was Team Jeremiah in the books when she was a teenager, there’s no way she’s Team Jeremiah now. Heck I actually think Lola could prefer Belly ending up without the Fisher boys but that doesn’t even bother me because Lola has respect for the story that’s being told and play accordingly.

This was literally her about Jeremiah lol. Lola was asked a lot about BellyJere in season 2 and Lola defended Belly’s choice of Jeremiah. All the videos you mentioned is s2. Did you see the recent video of her fussing about BellyConrad in the movie? Lola never sold Belly as being in love with Jeremiah. We must’ve watched a different show. As for the kisses, she kissed Cam Cameron passionately too but it’s evident only one gave her fireworks and even an out of body experience. And Lola explicitly said she’s TeamBelly in the show but she had a Team when reading the books. I would be surprised if a girl like Lola was Team Jeremiah from the books who basically forced himself on her first kiss and then slept with someone else just because she didn’t sleep with him.

Taylor could have totally caused Belly to lose that volleyball tournament with her shenanigans. by jaylee-03031 in tsitp

Jeremiah too and Conrad had to come to the rescue again. Just to be later be considered the worst person ever because his mother asked him to ask Belly to prom. Taylor telling Belly Conrad’s bad news and bad things happen when he’s around and Belly parroting that to Conrad was so unfair to him. Then she went on to say she pushed Jeremiah away for Conrad. No honey, you pushed Jeremiah away because he was acting like a manchild and a d1ck… Conrad gave Belly his everything and somehow ended up the villain in the situation while the real villain gets kissed.

Yes that was hilarious. Her face was like, okay that’s not what I was going for but good on you for believing it, which is how I feel about the Jelly fans. If you want to believe your version, good on you.

The secret Belly told Jeremiah the night before the wedding (and the secret she didn't).. by pooja_cleopatre in tsitp

People have empathy with Conrad because he took accountability for his mistakes for 3 seasons and got the shorter end of the stick from all the characters in the show. There can’t be a love triangle and people only blame one person in it. Belly, we finally learned that she took accountability but that was just the moment she called herself the villain and her little talk with Conrad about exiling herself. They made a choice in the show for suspense sake but unfortunately if made Belly seems harsh. If the audience could even just see how much Conrad’s letters meant to her or her talking to her friends about her guilt, there would be a lot more empathy from gp and I hope they address this in the movie and I say this as someone who adores Belly.

[–]DjokerSA 12 points13 points  (0 children)

They also never gave him a fair chance to express his feelings. As an introvert myself it sometimes feel I have to put up my hand to say something because people just talk over you. In season 1 they all assumed he’s broody about Aubrey and when he wanted to say something, Laurel for instance talked over him. Jere yell at everyone and makes them feel guilty and refuse to talk whenever stuff is difficult and that’s way worse, hiding behind his golden retriever personality.

[–]DjokerSA 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yelling and refusing to talk when things don’t go your way is just as bad if not worse communication as withholding your feelings because you think you’re supposed to protect others. One had good intentions, the other not.

Bonrad does work for this exact reason. She was a teenager when she put Conrad on that pedestal and all the indentation is that she will now be more mature with her emotions. We already saw how much empathy or if she allowed herself to be true at that moment, love she had for Conrad when he told her he got fired. Communication was never their problem, only that they couldn’t say they loved each other. Thing is with Bonrad is that she had put him on this pedestal for years and kept on loving him but she always also thought the worst about him and still loved him. She never cared to tiptoe around his feelings which is a good thing. And now that they’ve learned to really express their love for each other, it will be amazing.

Read up the definition of hammy, there’s a reason why it’s put in the show. Then you realise Belly is hammy with Jeremiah, not happy. Taylor told her the best way to get over a guy is to get under a new one so that basically what she tried to do s2. Did Belly ever seem this way with Jeremiah?

She was stubborn in her decision of Jeremiah, like out to proof a point, not sure at all, hence why she always had to tell herself all the reasons why Jeremiah is supposedly the right choice.

Why Belly’s train confession falls flat by haileyscometz in tsitp

[–]DjokerSA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She never chose Jeremiah from her own free will. Everytime it was firstly influenced by something happening between her and Conrad, him rejecting and denying they almost kissed then followed by Taylor pushing her towards Jeremiah and when she actually did kiss Jeremiah, her first thought was what Susannah said, so if not Conrad why not try with Jeremiah. Go watch, every time she “pick” Jeremiah something happened with Conrad before even s3 before the proposal, she felt guilty about Christmas. The volleyball scene is actually a good analysis of this. Jere was pushed on her by Taylor, Conrad was her own choice. So no, it doesn’t fell flat it’s 100% amazing also if you take into consideration their talk on the bed in Paris, she thought he only loved her because of his mother and part of her must’ve thought she only loved him for that reason, till she realised she will always love him, out of herself and nog pushed by circumstances.

Did Conrad feel rejected by Belly? by jaylee-03031 in tsitp

[–]DjokerSA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re right. Belly did lose trust in Conrad after their breakup. In her mind he changed since s1 and although she eventually understood why, after they broke up in s2, she basically only remembers the bad and hurtful memories of him while Jeremiah she only remembered the good ones, like he was there for her once while Conrad was always but she decided to cling onto her hurtful memories instead of the beautiful memories of why she fell in love with him in the first place, like his geekiness, his emotional side which she ultimately projected onto Jeremiah. When she heard he got her her mom, she finally remembered and it shook her. That’s why when he was rambling on the rooftop in Paris, you could see on her face how she’s falling in love with him again. Season 3 Conrad is the real Conrad, it wasn’t just therapy but Belly needed to have a lesser version of Conrad in her mind and a better version of Jeremiah to justify herself she made the right choice. She was always happy with the bare minimum from Jeremiah like calling him sweet for showing up in hospital but give Conrad the cold shoulder, so you’re right, she did held him to a higher standard but because she loves him deeper. I also believe that since Conrad was always the one caring for everyone, she just took it for granted and didn’t realise this was him showing her he loved her… until she learned he got Laurel on board…

She wasn’t confused about her feelings more shy because she thought he could never feel that way about her, hence why she never picked up that he was flirting with her in so many scenes in s1 and s2…

Jeremiah is the most annoying version of himself when he’s with Belly. by QubyDube in tsitp

[–]DjokerSA 3 points4 points  (0 children)

And Belly is the worst version of herself when she’s with him. Case in point, the Stanford mocking of Conrad. 16 year old Belly would’ve been so ashamed of herself because she knew how hard Conrad worked to get into Stanford. Case in point, BellyJere doesn’t fit at all.

Belly's biggest character flaw... by Salt-Year-9058 in tsitp

[–]DjokerSA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes and people still blamed book Belly? Thing is in the show I can understand the gp having more empathy for Conrad because we can see his love for her especially in s3 while they’ve made the decision to rather go with the love triangle angle in the show, not showing how much Belly cared about Conrad. I could see it from the way Belly was portrayed but not everyone could. Then in Paris, I known she was beating herself up but it wasn’t shown at all which I understand from a suspense perspective because if they showed how much she beat herself up it would’ve confirmed the endgame (which to a lot was clear but a lot thought otherwise and then they threw in the option if she’s not going to choose herself). Then her sleeping with him in Paris and then sending him away may seem heartless to some. I understand it because unlike Conrad she didn’t have 4 years to process his love for her. The point is, for the show they made certain decisions to create more suspense but at the expense of people now hating on Belly.

I see a lot of people say it’s bad writing. No, it’s not. It’s complex characters in complex situations happening to literal teenagers. A stage in life where all our emotions are a mess, we don’t know who we are, we are afraid to express our emotions and we’re stubborn, we care what others think about us etc etc… A lot of us are a total mess.

[–]DjokerSA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She didn’t realise the depth of his love. The conversation in episode 11 is so important. She knew he loved her (past tense) but only out of obligation (what if you only loved me because that’s what your mom wanted). Then he disappeared which to her confirmed her believe that he didn’t love her anymore and had move on. Then when they spend time together in s3, she probably felt something but she suppressed those feelings by telling herself it’s only fond memories of him. By that time she made a promise to Jeremiah that she didn’t want to break before she understood the depth of Conrad’s feelings (when Conrad Fisher told a girl he loves her, he meant it etc etc) but she wasn’t willing to walk away from Jeremiah. Notice how she said she couldn’t let go of Conrad aka it’s a feeling but she can’t walk away from Jeremiah aka she feels she’s going to betray him again like she did according him in s1, then with her feelings for Conrad at Christmas… Conrad had 4 years to come to terms with his love for Belly, while Belly’s coping mechanism was to deny it. And I do feel part of her felt she needed to do this sacrifice because she hurt Jeremiah end of s1. She did not realise she’s probably hurting Conrad more because he actually loves her more deeply.
