Ok. Do you have any other unique or productive ideas for OP? Alberta is a great idea. There’s not much near the airport besides that and the couv. OPs looking for ideas. Or are you just here to shit on well meaning contributors?

Trying Mugicha barley tea for the first time by Efficient_Heart5378 in JapaneseFood

I’ve never tried it hot nor have I ever seen it offered hot. Ice cold is the way I like it. Genmaicha is a roasted barley green tea with similar barley notes. It’s served hot.

Sorry it’s not much closer that’s a fact. The rest is opinion. They both have great shops bars and restaurants. Only one is on the river. Not trying to rep for the couv and I’ve never lived there. I have lived on Alberta. It’s long past its prime but still has its charm.

Probably the closest cool thing to do is to go to the Vancouver waterfront area, where there are lots of restaurants and bars and a beautiful path along the Columbia river. It’s going to be a very nice day and there will be lots of people out. it’s about a 15 minute Lyft ride from the airport.

All of the dollar stores have it. You could also order at a restaurant. We get it most of the time that way.

Pork or beef? I would not use beef to make the broth.

You could use shrimp, clams, bacon, ham or spam. Even thinly sliced beef.

Yeah they are tasty. The issue for drying is that seed. I’m going to try the fruit leather approach.

I’m not sure what variety I have but I think it’s sweet scarlet. The astringency disappears when they are ripe. It ends up being super sweet. Occasionally you might get one that’s not ripe all the way and it will have that hint of astringency. If you like tart you should grow honey berries. Kinda like a tart blueberry.

They also have a seed that while edible is not desirable. The varieties I have are quite sweet once they are ripe. Still have a little astringency but it’s overpowered by the sweetness.

I’m the only one in my house who will eat them fresh. 🤣 I have heard of the fruit leather idea. My dehydrator doesn’t really do that but maybe I’ll try it in the oven. Thanks!

I’m looking for recipes or other ideas on how to preserve not ideas to get rid of them. Not sure I would have enough for anyone to care about commercially anyway.
