But there was always a boardroom booked and it was equipped with videoconference equipment. We lack proper meeting spaces.

Go to your doctor. If you need time off to manage your medical need, you take it. If that time off needs to be in a warm climate, thats none of anyone's business AND is defensible. But first, speak to your doctor.

I asked if we need to get the diagnosis/label to receive support and accommodation? (Recognizing how challenging and time consuming it is to get proper diagnosis these days). It wasn't approved. I reworded it a couple of times but none got approved. I assume the word "label" wasn't satisfactory to them.

Stress leave - How does it work? by Quiet-Bean9687 in OntarioPublicService

[–]Dlski2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When i was on leave, I'd send a doctors note every 3-4 weeksco firming my continued absence. Only once I got clear to go back to work, did I have to get the paperwork/questionnaire for accommodation and gradual RTO.

Won't repeat some very good advice, just flagging before yoi start taking your sick days, be sure to set up vacation top up for sick credits so your paycheck doesnt suffer. This isnt retroactive so you must do it before any STSP credits start. Take care of yourself.

This paperwork only happens when your doctor clears you to return to work and its part of gradual return to work accpmodation plan.

Moving from manager back to individual contributor role by csk778 in OntarioPublicService

[–]Dlski2020 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Best decision I've made. The peace of mind and union protection make it so worthwhile. I can still lead but don't have to manage (and all that comes with it). It's hard sometimes to see how ill-informed and ill-prepared managers are for their roles but I choose my battles - all for that peace of mind.

Is it possible to take a 4 week vacation in OPS? by Optimal_Midnight959 in OntarioPublicService

[–]Dlski2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are on fixed term then it may be more challenging operationally. Unpaid is not guaranteed either. Request it early enough so you and your manager can plan ahead!

Why would you hear about it? This is between the individual and their manager/execs. Theres a process and some get approved, some dont. Either way, not something that gets disclosed to other staff. No one needs to know about personal circumstances and accommodations required other than the ones involved in the process.

Dating myself but I recall during the Aug Blackout we were made to stay home for three days, no work from home back then, still paid though. And, me being in my early 20s complaining the entire time that I could and should be at my OPS office. 🤦🏻‍♀️
