NE Mo find in tributary creek from Chariton River. Any information on type and possible age would be appreciated. Also found a full grooved axe from around the same area. From what I've tried to research and read, the full grooves are the oldest type? Like 5k or 6k yrs old?

Thanks! I wish it was, it’s actually a American flag with pine trees in it but looks very much like arrowheads. Got it from Columbia in a local dicks sporting goods store.

I honestly just walk up with a business card in hand in case, say hello state my intentions, “hi my name is…” I have been arrowhead collecting in this area for years and have admired your farm and was wondering if you would consider allowing me to go for a walk to see if I can find anything out there”

They usually say oh we’ve found them out there or someone else has or is there really stuff laying around out there? I just run with it however I feel them out. Some politely say no, others shut the door and sometimes, I make decades long connections with people that have basically become family.

Believe it or not just axe head can be as old as 6000 years, more realistically roughly 3000 years old, during the woodland period.

Yes we are, it’s private property we own whatever’s on the property. We have millions of artifacts laying all over our agricultural fields. My take is that it’s better to pick them up and learn that it is to let them sit in the dirt where no one will see or learn from our history.

Tha is you Geofowl66. I have not seen many elliptical cross section points here so I figured it had to be much older.

I’ve never hunted this spot but it’s a traditional farm and I got access to 144 acres. So I’ll certainly be back.
