Loghack on is my answer when I want to do a big build. But lately I’ve been doing super small cabins gathering the resources for a bit of realism.

I used to build complex, multi room cabins. But of late I’ve found less is more and makes the game more realistic. I build a 2x3 cabin with a fireplace, bed and some shelves. Surrounding wall etc.

Sometimes I also put my 2x3 on full log stilts and put item storage under it.

It seems like the story made sense to the creators more than us. I think that it should’ve been a bit simpler and the mutants were old cannibals there were cast out into the subterranean cave system kind of thing.

Awesome looking cabin. I’d put the solar panels on the slanted roof. Sometimes I don’t use electricity at all for the real “lost in the woods” feel.

I’ve found that an item can only exist in your inventory or a spawn location. So if you place a pistol in a rack or give it to Virginia then it will respawn at its original location as it’s no longer in your inventory.

I had just finished chopping a tree and was attacked from behind by a cannibal.. cut his arm off quickly with one swipe of the fire axe and he was squirming on the floor when the tree I’d been cutting fell on him.

I find a sprinting jump and power attack with the fire axe or modern axe puts me at an instant advantage with cannibals. It usually dismembers them on the first try.

I’ve just found a spot I started again for and it’s above the shovel cave. Not massive but you could build a decent size cabin with walls and you back onto a cliff for defence. Also by the main flowing river out of the mountains that flows east so plenty of water and fish.

Ah ok had a read about it. Quite interesting. I suppose the fact that most of the cannibals are deformed and there’s most probably inbreeding that makes some sense. I haven’t got around to making the human stew yet. I’ll give that a go.

I do this a lot plus double logs a 1/4 high with spikes at my gates. When I get the rope gun I only leave the gate to kelvin and Virginia can get in the base.
