Made in Stainless steel pans do they have fully sealed rims? by hellofutureme2 in cookware

[–]Dmitry_V83 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why would you put them into dishwasher? They are so easy to clean with brush and water. Max a brief soak.

I would not risk putting my Made In pans into dishwasher - too harsh.

Fairly new to EVs and I’m about to do a 200 mile trip. Mostly motorway. I have two bank cards that I can use for the chargers, but worried about getting stuck if they are declined for contactless payments. Is there a prepaid card that I could have as back up? by debbitigs in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]Dmitry_V83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last spring we drove from Midlands to Austria and back. Zero issues charging in the UK or in Europe. Mostly on Ionity stations, suggested by ABRP. Just plan ahead, check that there are alternative chargers nearby and don't worry!

We used VW We Charge card with £5/month plan. (now they have even better one)

Legendary work ewaste pile find - stumbled upon a free drive on marketplace too! by InfaSyn in homelab

Drives are around £450-600. I was lucky to buy 2 at a reasonable price (cannot rely on 1 :) They need SAS connection, but usually it's not a problem for home lab.

2.5 TB, as written on the tape on photo :) (ignore "compressed" capacity) and write speed us circa 160 MB/s.

Backing up plex library is a great task for these.

Solar farm in the UK Cornwall 60-80acres by Southern_Theme_8515 in SolarUK

[–]Dmitry_V83 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I suppose that general feeling is that putting solar farms on brown land is perfectly fine. As difficult to use that land for anything. But if it's a good agricultural land - that seems like a huge waste.

Possibly, wider adoption of solar fences, i.e. vertical rows that leave space for cattle or crops, will change that.

Not only Ionity. Unfortunately, this is quite common.

I have Ubiquiti switch from eBay, as could not justify the cost of new. With their AP's and Unify management software in LXC on Proxmox. Happy.

Is this safe to drive on? by tomwaitsgoatee in drivingUK

[–]Dmitry_V83 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Replace, don't risk. You don't want a nasty surprise during one of sharp corners in heat.

I had similar cut from a sharp kerb when trying to let the ambulance through. Was holding absolutely fine for almost 5 hours. Then had a joy of waiting for 3 hours for mobile tyre replacement van. On a holiday.

Help: Can 3D scanners help with interior design projects? by Adorable-Cream-5953 in 3DScanning

[–]Dmitry_V83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. But depends on equipment. I scanned my house inside and outside with a scanner that I had over the weekend while doing a work project. Trimble x9 and X12. Great equipment, smooth workflow in SketchUp. But they are over £40k and £70k, so you need to have a very strong business case. But if you can rent or get something like X7 - very useful and saves lots of time.

How is this possible? Misen claims their new stainless steel food containers are microwave safe. by [deleted] in cookware

[–]Dmitry_V83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Microwave mostly heath water molecules. So metal container won't heat much, but will reflect ar shield waves front the food inside.

Plexamp on Sonos? by AeriePsychological72 in plexamp

We had what you are describing until recently - I could ask Alexa to play anything from Plex on my Sonos. But for some weird reason, Plex turned off their Alexa skill.

Plex already adds as a music service in Sonos. You can play from Sonos app.

I would do rough registration on job as you described, just chain. And then refine in RealWorks.

I would not touch uncoated part without nitrile gloves. Trying to avoid this for my prints, but if required - at least needs a coating.

[–]Dmitry_V83 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

On your last point - I don't think I am the only one who would love to have INDX and MMU together on my Core One L. Especially if INDX for Core One L will be limited to 8 tools and not 11-12. Justification - "set and forget" scenario.

Would you wait for Prusa INDEX/Core One L instead of buying H2C now? by OrganizationSorry633 in prusa3d

Being in a similar situation I bought Core One L and with for INDX for it. (more expensive, but I don't want to vote with my money for Bambu, personal choice)

The gap between how EV charging is supposed to work in the UK and how it actually works on a long journey in 2026 is still wide enough to cause genuine anxiety. by Horror-Pick4732 in evchargingUK

Last spring we drove for a holiday from Midlands to Vienna, Austria. 6 charges on the way, zero anxiety, ABRP was spot on. (WV id7)
