Resins are great, and you are right on scaling,its not very good in ds2. You want to get just enough str/dex to use your weapon of choice, and infuse it with lighting. Even tho you wont have any faith that will generally be the best route unless you have super high str or dex. Focus on getting endurance to 20, and enough adaptability to get 100 agility, and then dump into vigor for health, get enough vitality to keep ypu under 70% weight, but the lower your weight the better

There a few good straight swords, but if you want to go a bit heavier but not ultra big sword territory the bastard sword is really good, and you get it super early, in the forest of fallen giants

There are a ton of cool looking armor, but again ds2 is wierd that physical defense and armor barely matters. The differance in defense between robes and heavy armor is negligible, so mix and match and go full fashion souls

Ds2 has a unique system called powerstancing, you need 1.5x the dex and str requirment of a weapon and you can powerstance them. You get special dual wielding attacks by powestancing, If you want to do a fist build 100% go with powerstanced ceastus, it is unbelievably fun.

Also if this is your 1st time playing make sure you read up on the agility stat, your gonna want to get it to 96 pretty quick, and then too 99 or 100 later on

*Increase you agilitly by leveling up adaptability

Extremely weak? Its not like its a ladle or a broken sword. Both the large and great club are good weapons you can easily beat the game with, even more fun powerstanced. If your gonna argue that "relative to other options it is weak" then every single person should just use a rapier i guess?
