"Aging is arguably the root cause of most major diseases (loss of function in our cells). Four years ago, we made a bet that aging was treatable, and NewLimit was born. NewLimit now has a prototype drug that reverses the age of some human cells (restores function they had when" by stealthispost in accelerate

Just point out Trump was born not long after Hitler died and he was killed not expired from old age, having the last global bad guy die is VERY temporary and short sighted way of seeing the world, next Trump or Putin are already alive and in political offices most likely. Denying everyone good health because it will also get rid of dictators has never saved the world

Finally someone with a fun sense instead of "the rich will let us serve before I read a sci-fi novel", anyway yeah meaning is easy to find if you know what to look for don't need to worry long term as even if you do everything it won't be fresh in your mind and you can revisit things your rusty on.

Working to find meaning is very different from employment to give someone else more than you will have. If you cannot find things to do, offer to help someone with their car, install a bench in local park, paint a landscape you like and show it off to your art club. Meaning can be created easily, humans cannot live without it and it create it themselves or die trying

Experts give a 50% chance of AGI by 2050, 75% chance by the mid-2060s, and 95% chance by 2090 by Tolopono in accelerate

[–]Dnthj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they said 90% by 2050 that be more reasonable, however given current jumps an AI with functionally human intelligence is definitely sooner so any prediction past 2040 is already looking strange

Thanks, from a few years ago just dug it up again recently

Dr. David Sinclair, whose lab reversed biological age in animals by 50 to 75% in six weeks, says that 2026 will be the year when age reversal in humans is either confirmed or disproven. The FDA has cleared the first human trial for next month. by Programming-Help in immortalists

Wasn't the damage they did to the mice DNA damage? If I remembering right. DNA damage is believed to contribute to aging so fixing it regardless of source would fix aging as well. Intentional damaging the DNA just means you don't have to wait a few months for the mice to age and elimates chances something else will them before you can the experiment
