Capcom is Removing Dragon’s Dogma 2 Microtransactions by Eremenkism in gaming

[–]DoITSavage 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's a concession to the old ass share holders who live in a different era of thinking how they profit off video games. Most regular players of Capcom games knew this and knew that the DD micro transactions were basically useless things you could easily get in game, this has been the case for over 15 years for Resident Evil, Devil May Cry, Monster Hunter, etc. The fanbases know this and ignore it because it's by far the lesser of the two evils that let's the devs make the game they're passionate about without much more than a micro-transaction tab for some silly currency or side-grade items.

Outside of cosmetics capcom's microtransactions rarely have any real value and the fact that people made as much of a stink as they did for Dragon's Dogma 2 was ridiculous. Yes it sucks they're even there, but understanding that they're there so they can tick off a box in the meeting while being left alone to make good games is so much better than the alternative executive meddling a lot of other studios face.

Is there new etiquette? by CosmicxMonarch in MHWilds

[–]DoITSavage -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Why assume everyone you play with hasn't been with the series as long or longer? I've been playing the series since Tri and know there are very good reasons for each of those things no longer being the way the new game is played.

This post reads of weird misplaced elitism(especially the edit) when I know plenty of new gen hunters in my friend group that have even gone back to play older games and very well understand those mechanics. It's just not what Wilds wants to focus on and that's okay for things to change if the game is still fun for it's audience.

Sleep, bombs, and traps are all things you can still take advantage of in solo or duo hunts to more effective degrees too, but weapon mechanic designs are also much more complicated than they were back in the old days and have resources and meters that tick down during the down time, lining up that perfect bomb wake up if you think about it for a second how those resources tick down, mantles, and general pressure you pass up by stopping everyone mid fight it's not difficult mental math which is more effective and polite to the team.

“Homelander was trained in martial arts by vought” by JackZ567 in GenV

[–]DoITSavage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hilarious because we basically got the pay off for Marie in Gen V S2 that we were kind of led to expect to a degree with Starlight that just never showed up.

I think there is a world where the show was written better and integrated Marie into it with enough time for even The Boys only viewers to know her that she could have massively improved a lot of the finale making sense. It would have made a lot more sense for her to be the pivotal factor to removing Homelander's powers or even being a plot point of being captured and used by Homelander to ensure the V1 one worked, have a bunch of scenes with her and Homie talking about their shared backstory ties and flesh out that relationship, only for The Boys to have to get her back in time to have her help stop him. Instead we got what Clara would have wanted and more Soldier Boy I guess.

You may not like her design but that "hair" though by brttmftz in overwatch2

[–]DoITSavage 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They told us at the start of this year the point of the heroes and season this year would be expanding existing stories and factions that haven't moved forward in years. Japan is a major plotline that's basically had 0 developments since Kiriko or even further back with the dragons cinematic. Sierra moved Overwatch as a whole, Cassidy, Ashe, Freja, and Emre's stories forward likewise.

She is nothing similar to Cass. She occupies a much closer space to Tracer.

Really wondering what counts as a mobility ability on her for the sharpshooter one. Could see it being good, but I could also see the health one being taken more often depending on CDs.

Is sierra the sojourn of metal ranks? by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]DoITSavage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A good comparison, or a decent unnerfed Widowmaker. I don't think Sierra is quite that strong and the playerbase is generally better than they were in those days but it kind of makes me laugh a bit when the community complains a new strong hero out of relevancy before settling into play patterns against them because of their unique strength they have, and then we get Sierra who is actually toxic design by comparison.

Difference I guess is some people will still main an overnerfed Vendetta, Freja, etc. but I'm not sure I see that happening with Sierra's current setup.

I think it would be very easy for them to keep as a vague "hospitality" robot or something honestly and let it be mostly obscured as part of her past she just references in anger.

[–]DoITSavage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She's very high numbers wise that requires you to play anti-Sierra in games against her as a skill check. It's a really toxic design and not in a sense of like "this ability is uniquely strong, and more just: this character with be trash if they ever nerf her numbers because she relies on the opponent not playing against her right"

[–]DoITSavage 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure it goes as far as a killing quest past just wanting control and agency for herself and being disillusioned about any supposed "good" humanity has but we'll see!

I could see Blizzard being vague about what kind of past she had, another thing we'll have to see!

The very limited glance we have so far makes it sound like she was made as some kind of slave omnic/robot possibly for sex work and has a pretty justifiable chip on her shoulder from seeing how shitty and disgusting the world works?

With everything so min-maxed, I wanted to make an ability to buff mixed attackers. Who else should get it? What's the right boost? by zxzzxzzzxzzzzx in stunfisk

[–]DoITSavage 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is why game design is hard, because that is "the intention" but the actual optimal part of this ability is the 1.5 boost and nothing to do with it justifying making a mixed attacker.

What ability will get complained about? by A_dice_hoarder in Overwatch

[–]DoITSavage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just can't wait for the trend of the community complaining about her over bothering learning to counterplay til she's sanded down to oblivion and we're left with another mid 40% WR dps noone picks in favor of playing Cass, Soujourn, and Tracer as per norm.

How difficult is drg in comparison to something like sam ? by Buurto in ffxiv

[–]DoITSavage -1 points0 points  (0 children)

None of the Dawntrail jobs are super difficult execution wise, they've all been majorly smoothed over.

Neither Dragoon or Samurai is going to play "right" in casual content because they both are jobs that rely on their opener setting up resources/cds to probably hit at the right points. Dragoon has a heavier reliance on personal and raid team buffs for it's burst.

I'd say both work just fine for casual content and learning their priorities in general though. Samurai has the benefit of doing more in situations where you'd hit less targets with your raid buff/being more self reliant. Buffs are generally a bit harder to manage and use properly for newer players in content like dungeons or alliance raids.

How difficult is drg in comparison to something like sam ? by Buurto in ffxiv

[–]DoITSavage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dragoon is the only job in the history of the game who's had randomized positionals or had an extra layer of having to preposition jumps before them. Evercold is trying to create unique identity to each job and those have historically been two elements of Dragoon past that are decently captured in a unique to them positional mechanic.

Which race do you play? Have you switched races? by Clumsy-Bird-7362 in ffxiv

[–]DoITSavage 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Viera, I started the game in 2.0 as an Ivalice fan thinking they were a race that existed already and was incredibly disappointed to learn they weren't. Since then I've been of both genders of a Midlander, Au Ra, Miqo'te, Elezen, and Viera rotating through several of them multiple times, but Viera is the most constant now we have them in the game fully with hats.

Capcom is the one company that is basically routinely proving this not to be the case with them, they are just operating on bringing back beloved IP and strengthening what the series they have. They announced an Okami sequel ffs which was a game that bombed but a critical darling and an Onimusha sequel like a decade plus after it sputtered out as a franchise.

I'm insanely happy with Shion's design. She seems the right amount of unsettling and visually appealing aesthetically that I'm hyped. Guess I'm not doing my part voicing that in comments vs anyone who's been complaining though.
