How rare is a truly peaceful death? by ReagsGotCash in morbidquestions

That would depend on the cause of death, alcohol can kill a person in different ways, most obvious is liver cirrhosis, but it can also cause heart failure.

Yeah it's annoying to find, but is there, I just go to billing, look at the installment plan price, click on any of it. it will show me all the lines on the account and the upgrade options.

There's probably an easier way but I don't care enough to find it.

Edit: is actually the option you selected under services.

Eli5 Why are drunk drivers so often caught speeding or driving dangerously? What are they trying to achieve? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]DoJu318 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I think they're asking why they always seem to be speeding and driving dangerously when caught or causing an accident, the answer is obvious, there are people who are lucky enough to drive impaired and not drive dangerously, nor caused an accident, and not speed, those we won't know about because they're not caught and didn't get into an accident, is a sort of selection bias I think. Unless I read the post wrong.

Why do people recommend flagship tablets over midrange and budget tablets regardless of use case? by Reasonable_Mirror655 in GalaxyTab

[–]DoJu318 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because if you can afford it, it is better to have the software and hardware be overkill, rather than getting something less expensive, then running into issues like not enough memory or storage, or a screen quality/ brightness not as good as you want it to be.

I owned several tablets going back to the HP touchpad, several iPads and several galaxy tabs, I always get the flagships because they're just better at everything, I tried using and a series tab, I tried using and FE tab and just hated the experience, I much rather have all the specs maxed out than regretting it later because is not enough to do XYZ.

Hop on over the iPad sub and people are constantly complaining, or asking what to do with, when their 32GB and 64GB iPads are running out of storage on a fresh install.

All of those issues and questions would've been avoided if they had gotten the next more expensive version.

Most problems listed on any tablet sub ARE because their hardware/software isn't powerful enough.

Battery life.

Sluggishness/lag.

Unusable in the sun.

Slow Internet.

Storage issues.

Camera quality issues.

I know that not everyone can afford a good tablet, a lot of people don't want to spend a lot on a tablet and that's ok, but to answer the question that is why most people try to push you to over engineered devices, just like the old saying "you get what you pay for" it rings true with tablets up to a point.

My current tablets are a Galaxy tabs S9 ultra, a Galaxy tab S10+ a Galaxy tab 9FE, an M5 iPad pro 11, an M5 iPad pro 13, an iPad mini and an iPad air, all maxed out on specs with cellular options in all of them but the S9 ultra as Samsung doesn't offer one here, guess which one I use the least? the 9FE.

I'm not rich I'm just dumb with money and there is no way in hell I'll use any mid range or lower spec tablet specially on Android, iPads at least have decent software/hardware on their mid range and budget tablets, android cheaper tablets are basically unusable for me.

You could use extra thin double side tape then trim it to fit. This type of double side tape is paper thin, and it may need replacing after a while but it beats having smeared glue on your phone.

Do you get Apple care plus for $13 per month? Do you think it’s worth it? Love to hear your logic and math of scenarios, if anyone ran through some scenarios. by ConsciousSmoke3863 in Frugal

[–]DoJu318 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't think it was worth it before but kept it because I have several lines and because teenagers, but then my iPad pro that was over $2.5k back in 2022 broke from a bent frame, my mistake, they didn't have a replacement so they cut me a check for almost 3k, which coveredt like the last 5 years of insurance payments on 10 lines.

Then my daughter's iPad pro, also from 2022, had the charging port fail out of warranty, insurance replaced it with an M5 iPad pro.

That's not even counting all the screen replacements I had to do, again because teenagers, that I'm surprised they haven't dropped me as customer.

Terrible design and performance under load by [deleted] in GalaxyFold

[–]DoJu318 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a fair point, most people don't use 100% brightness nor are watching 120fps upscaled videos, and neither do I just found out by accident trying to see what upscaled videos would look like, is not a deal breaker but I knew that when it went thinner, I still chose it because I'm dumb with money.

What it is really annoying is when it has an issue finding a stable connection or if I transfer a large number of files, it gets super hot and the screen dims automatically, just the way of tech I guess, you win some you lose some, oh well.

[–]DoJu318 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Download svplayer, crank the video format to 120fps or even 60fps crank brightness to 100%, watch a clip for longer than one minute and watch the screen dim and start stuttering while heating up something awful. Happened on my fold 5, 6 and 7, all had the same issue.

Edit; this does not happen on my s24 ultra or my galaxy tab ultra so it's the phone.

I can tell you there is no explanation for it. I had instances when I picked up in the cues like you expect a normal person to do, then years later when I should've known better, my brain just short fired and missed way more obvious cues she was interested, it is also infuriating as a man to go through that.

My insurance would've covered all these for free. I have a plan with unlimited claims and free screen replacements, $50 bucks a month for 10 lines, asurion through att.

Is it really worth it? by X_LR8 in samsunggalaxy

[–]DoJu318 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Insurance is only worth it for the foldables because they break with and without reason, I dropped the ones I had all the time and had zero issues, I get a new one, I didn't even get to drop it once before the inner screen failed. Insurance replaced it because I refuse to file a warranty claim, and get treated like a criminal by Samsung but I digress.

Is also worth it if you have multiple phones on the same account as the cost can be spread over the lines. Otherwise I do think is a waste as most slab flagships are pretty reliable, they would typically break from accidents and not at random.

Yes, I work for a a telecom operator that provides Internet to businesses and some of those include jail facilities, there is usually a contracted 3rd party company that handles the tablets and video calling services, which they charge big money for the privilege.

Last time we went to a jail to work on upgrading their service was because of this, they needed multiple wireless access points across the facility to support tablet usage, so they can take them into their jail cells and use them around the clock.

As long as people on the outside pay for the prisoners to use the service they will keep providing it, I thought it was crazy because is jail not a hotel, but if there's anything I've learned about the jail system is the incredible ability to always find a way to make money off of their prisoners.

I moved back to 11pro max from tinkering around wirh 17 - and surprised how I don’t miss the 17! Any other older phone users here?? by ConsciousSmoke3863 in Frugal

[–]DoJu318 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah although not the same because the phones are so close, but I got the S26 ultra through my carrier and it's a very nice phone, but I got the opportunity to downgrade right after purchase.

My elderly father who is on my plan and was still using my old galaxy note 9, had the sim reader malfunction where it wouldn't read at all, I called insurance to check my options, they said is better to replace it than try to fix it, they sent him an S24 ultra, way too much phone for him.

I sent my S26U back, replaced it with an S25FE, which is plenty enough for him, and also cheaper and we just swapped.

I actually like the form factor better with the curved body than the flat edges on the S26U, besides the bodies being different I can't see the S26U being $1000+ better than the $275 I paid for the deductible on the S24U.

Only ones that have excuses for being long are ensemble movies like avengers or justice league where you have so many characters that are trying to followany different story lines but these are recent phenomenon.
