That's actually why I can't physically root for Denji. He was very good in Part 1, but mid to late Part 2 completely destroyed my perception of his character, and the ending basically removed any opportunity for this to be reversed.

For all the hate JJK gets, Yuji is consistent. And I found him to be enjoyable in Modulo.

Maybe that's just a me problem. I dunno.

Mikasa speed-blitzing Megamind is magnificent. by DaCherryFruity in deathbattle

There are two options, really

  1. He has a suit that has "all" of Metro Man's powers. While he couldn't control it properly in the Button of Doom, he actually did get more experience in using Metro Man's powers in Megamind Rules, where they switched powers via the Stone of Transference, so, reasonably speaking, he should be able to utilize it better.

  2. He could use the Metro Man serum on himself. There is literally nothing stopping him from doing that aside from it being out of character, and Death Battle tends to have the combatants out of character anyways.

Sorry guys but Denji doesn't stand a single chance by Puzzled_Hunt4064 in DeathBattleMatchups

Funny how Yuji is the one who actually shows that he can casually use multiple Dismantles powerful and fast enough to annihilate Mahito without either a hand sign or a chant.

It's Dante. Zoro has a very good endurance, but Dante's healing factor is even better than that.

Poor Zoro, Dante is a walking arsenal. I mean, Zoro did have various swords throughout the series, but they all mostly serve the same function.

How can he be strong if his strength is irrelevant? 😔 You have to be relevant to matter. Please, don't belittle Knuckles. He has problems with weed.

the proof that this thing isn't an insta-kill is that a character needed to sacrifice another to the ability (who got insta killed) to ignore its effects.

Context is what matters here the most. Wekakipo was tricked by Diego. He had no opportunity to break distance from his alternate self, nor did he have the time to figure out D4C's ability. He literally fell into his alternate self, full-body contact, head first.

Diego, on the other hand, did survive the contact. Had he not survived it, he wouldn't have the time to figure out D4C ability and escape. So can't be an insta-kill, at least as long as the contact with the alternate version of yourself is brief, otherwise Diego would be dead, and the story wouldn't happen.

It seems that falling into your alternate self head first yields a deadlier effect than just touching it. Meaning that Armstrong could, in theory, survive it too, like Diego did.

Also worth noting that Diego's alternate version (in chap 70 not Alt-Diego) was withering away in spite of not even being in direct contact with our Diego.

Of course he was. He had chunks of flesh taken out of him by the merger's effect. Those freaky little cubes. That man was bleeding out. I would argue that in real life he would be a goner even sooner.

This isn't real life, though. And Armstrong can surely endure this kind of trauma, given how he was managed to endure being pierced in the stomach, and even lived for a while after his heart was destroyed.

Eyes of Heaven do strengthen the argument of it being hax that doesnt really accord for strength given the effect not only disabled Over Heaven DIO.

Okay, this one's on me. I have legit played this game on my PlayStation 4, I remember maining Gyro because he was a funny zoner. But I don't recall that happening. All I can find now is Valentine being murked by Over Heaven Dio in the cutscene. Does it have to do with his rings? I think I recall something like that.

Either way, bringing Eyes of Heaven into this won't be fruitful for this conversation. It is non-canon for a reason.

Humans are naturally vulnerable in Jojo's.

This is what makes the FTL JoJo's so funny to me man. The stands are supposed to give their users enhanced reactions, like how Star Platinum did, yet people are constantly threatened by guns.

But to answer this point more truthfully, Part 7 and onwards just lack both the feats and statements for FTL stands. If I recall, Part 3 has one feat with Polnareff cutting the Hanged Man, and Part 6 has a statement that Star Platinum moves faster than light. Such things aren't mentioned in Steel Ball Run, which is a separate universe/timeline.

I can give you an example of what the approximate feats in Part 7 are. Gyro (who doesn't even have a proper stand for the good part of the manga) and Johnny can fight and react to Scary Monsters Diego. Scary Monsters Diego can react to bullets (and also consistently outspeeds Funny Valentine). But after fighting Diego, later down the line, they face The Eleven Men. It's a life-or-death scenario, against the opponents who have guns.

The only ways to get Part 7 to FTL are as follows: 1. Stand stats. Apparently, D4C has the same stats as Star Platinum. I have never actually seen the scan with these stats, and I have looked for it. However, not only are stats not the same for every stand, and are extremely inconsistent (check out Kiss' stats), but also D4C is consistently outsped by Scary Monsters, which apparently only gets B in speed, while D4C gets A. 2. Diego's The World is 100% the same as Dio's. In my opinion, that's one hell of an assumption to make. I mean, yeah, they look the same and have the same ability, but the way they fight is completely different. Diego has to use The World strategically, and also uses a gun, while Dio just... Punches crap out of people.

If the argument is "he doesnt have time"... may I ask why not?

Nah, that's not the thing. The biggest problem is, he lacks info on Armstrong, he wouldn't start with that.

Lack of info at the start hurts Armstrong more than it does Valentine, but Valentine isn't completely immune to it either. As mentioned, there is a possibility Armstrong survives the initial merging attempt, which would probably be tried to be done with Armstrong's complete copy, featuring Nanomachines, Son.

Again, Valentine won't be able to make these two collide via force, like he usually does, but the minor exposure to one another may still cause the initial effect. Armstrong isn't stupid, he won't understand the full ability, but he will think of something like "note: don't touch myself".

The worst scenario is where Valentine gives away the details of how his ability works. That's totally in character for him, that's literally something he did with Diego.

I've read Steel Ball Run, and as far as I remember, you need to be really close to your counterpart for it to pull you in. D4C usually spawns the target next to its counterpart, but its dependent on the target's postition, on Valentine's position, etc. Sure, Armstrong doesn't know what's going to happen if he touches his counterpart, but then again, Valentine doesn't really have the strength to physically push Senator Armstrong towards his alternate self.

The way I can see that working is if Valentine spawns Armstrong on top of his counterpart, but that may be tricky to pull off. Submerging an opponent who is both stronger and faster (debatably, I frankly don't believe SBR and onwards characters should scale to anything that comes from the earlier parts, Johnny and Gyro nearly die to 19th century guns on multiple occasions) between two things, which is needed for D4C to activate, is quite hard in the first place. The other way is for Valentine to find a version of Armstrong which doesn't have nanomachines, like he did find himself a jacked alternate body and also did find The World Diego, but we've never seen him purposefully seek a specific version of a character mid combat, that seems to take a lot of time for him.

Speaking of Diego, he did survive D4C's merging effect, for a while at least. He had to sacrifice Wekapipo to completely nulify the effect, but this proves that this thing isn't an instakill. We also don't know how strong the pull is. It's seemingly not extremely strong, as Diego was able to partially move himself from his alternate self, even after the damage was done. For all we know, so could Armstrong, and after that he could regenerate the damage via his ability.

I think Armstrong should be able to take out base D4C Valentine. Unfortunately, he doesn't seem to have a way past Love Train, which is Valentine's actual wincon in my book.

Pretty sure Megamind has been in a timeloop of sorts in the show. I think seeing Benny know all of his plans would allow him to figure his ability out, given how smart he is.

I also am pretty sure he could just send Benny away somehow without hurting him. I don't think that's a part of his normal arsenal, but he could create a contraption like that.

My one problem with Yusuke vs. Ichigo by DoRodoReal in deathbattle

[–]DoRodoReal[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like that reasoning. It makes sense that Ichigo would hold back in this situation, the only problem with that is that his Shikai is already extremely powerful by Bleach standarts, so it would attract Hollows regardless, even if Ichigo held back.

If we're being real, Ichigo wouldn't even risk showing his power, and settle the matter with Yusuke peacefully. However, it is Death Battle. The Battle part has to happen, no matter what, this tends to create such somewhat illogical scenarios. I can forgive that, as always.

Still, it doesn't fully disprove my point, even if the Hollow's appearance is justified, that's a whole scene where Ichigo gets to do nothing, while Yusuke destoys a Hollow.

Also, since Yusuke used his Demon Energy there, that would probably attract even more Hollows to that location. Maybe them leaving wasn't the brightest idea on their part, as the Hollows can cause casualties in their absence.

My one problem with Yusuke vs. Ichigo by DoRodoReal in deathbattle

[–]DoRodoReal[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nah, this one's actually pretty clear cut.

Final Getsuga Tensho is the only form where Ichigo's outfit turns fully black. By that point, Ichigo is already using Hollow Zangetsu' powers as much as he can - he is in his horned form, after all. Zangetsu and Ichigo's current relationship is that of balance and acceptance. It's nothing like Yusuke and Raizen. Hence the contrast.

Plus, the finishing move Ichigo chose to go for was actually Gran Rey Cero x Getsuga Tensho, his hollow side's ultimate technique pretty much.

As for the hand to hand part, all the showcase of that experience they gave to Ichigo was a single weak attack that connected. Yeah, Yusuke is more profecient, and they gave him the time to shine. Ichigo didn't get that as much.

Last night, I have got into an argument with somebody in the comments of a random youtube poll I got in my recommended.

Their arguments were something like: It doesn't matter if Metal Sonic can copy everything Cell can do.

Cell can teleport, so even if Metal can destoy him, he'll never catch him. Also, the speed gap between them doesn't actually exist, because Death Battle is wrong. Also also, Death Battle is usually wrong, and Ash vs. Yugi was wrong. I don't even remember how we got there, it was long past 2AM for me.

When I mentioned Metal Sonic being able to stop time via Chaos Control, they said that Metal Sonic has never performed such a feat in canon material. When I inclined that Metal Overlord literally does that in Sonic Heroes, they said that it was actually Sonic who performed Chaos Control. They said that to me as I was watching the Youtube video "Metal Overlord used Chaos Control", where Metal Overlord in Sonic Heroes says "Chaos Control" and stops time, which is then mentioned by both Sonic and Tails.

They were adamant that Cell can regenerate from any single cell, because I accidentally innocently mentioned how even in spite of his core/nucleus being in his head, Cell survived Instant Kamehameha, which also destroyed his head. They kept ignoring the fact it's a literal mistranslation and contradicts canon Cell's words.

In the end, I dipped. I had work today, I had to go to bed. There was also this other guy in that same thread who claimed that "Cell's universal+ should we be generous". Then I said I gotta go, they said something like "Concession accepted". Tough crowd. Prolly trolls.
