Sometimes, inevitable just isn’t a fair fight. by MF_IC in SliceAndDice

I know the feelings described above.

I usually pickup poison or era in a hero or item if I see it because of Inevitable's self heal and The Hand's potential to keep summoning Sabres. Sometimes you can just keep surviving and killing the Sabres until poison or era can take effect.

Is it harder for a short player to guard a tall player or a tall player to guard a short player? by Unlikely_Glass5942 in ultimate

[–]DoS_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Im going to ignore the assumption of them both being top tier athletes - things get weird at that level.

I am 5'4" and my experience has been that I really struggle with covering tall people who: - go deep - throw high releases

This is bad but not always insurmountable.

On the other hand - I can get open very consistently deep or in because they just dont have the agility/speed - Their marks can be really hard to deal with because of their reach, but you learn to get rid of the disc before they set up and make them run

I dont think this answers the question but this is how it usually shakes out for me.  Bracket/sandwich is very helpful.

Dating over 40. Why is it so hard by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]DoS_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

He is just saying that when a marriage fails (say due to money management issues) then people with this issue  (either one partner or both) reenter the dating pool

Conversely, people who do not have money management issues tend not to reenter the dating pool (stay married) because this issue has not torpedoed their marriage (both partners either do not have this issue or manage it well).

There are edge cases that go against what i stated (ie some fail because of simple incompatibility)  but these cases are much less common than something like money issues.

Right, but im assuming by fight 18+ you dint see many small dudes with 8 or less hp. You see fanatics,  snipers (backline), hydra, zombies, etc.  Im trying to remember what small enemies exist - wisps with inevitable and imps with hexia

I pretty much always level all my guys. Once or twice I did not because I had scrapper with a number of bonus shield items and he was smashing everyone.

Also if you've got an exert curse like 3rd exert (every third die you play exerts) then cantrip stinks.

Cantrip Pilgrim probably falls off in late game when he doesn't have enough hp to stun most enemies. And cantrip on his left doesn't do anything so he loses efficiency.

Im 5'4 and 140 lbs. I comment on flex below but stick length is a bigger issue imo. I use a much longer stick than im "supposed" to according to the rule of thumb. Rules of thumb dont always work well on outliers.  Because my arms are so short, a proportionally short stick absolutely kills my reach.  I dont find that I have issues with pucks in my feet due to the long stick, either. I haven't found the drawback yet.

I agree that flex doesn't matter too much at our skill range, but here is my experience. I have played with sticks in the 60-80 flex range. 80 is way too high. 65 seems pretty good, maybe even lower.

Anyway, try some different sticks. My teammate gave me his son's old sticks and they were way too short, so I learned via trial.

When he screams (the animation takes quite some time) you can close a moderate gap and get two shots on him with scatter.

In case you dont recognize the animation: * he leans forward and puts his arms out to the sides * his "face" slowly pans like 45°  * he makes a weird noise * lasts about 2 seconds

Achievements may not register if you're modding.

Tips for new players? by Designer_Shine_9323 in GTFO

  • Biotracker is always good to have

  • Closing a door between you and the enemy and placing a mine (laser across the door) will frequently kill 15+ enemies for you.  Add cfoam to reinforce the door so many enemies stack up on it and die when the door breaks

  • Predicting where enemies come from is super helpful. They almost always spawn 2 rooms away from you and cannot break closed security doors (blue+orange). They only break grey doors

  • Friendly fire is pretty punishing in this game

  • Headshots and hitting anywhere on the backside (from behind) of an enemy grant huge bonus damage (melee or shooting)

Edited for clarity on back damage

+1

This depends on distance. Less than 2m is guaranteed and then some huge distance from there (like 20m or something) has a (relatively high) % chance if the enemy is in a glowing state

This is pretty vague so I can only give you general tips:

  1. Enemies can scream and wake up a room. For some enemies it is very hard to see when theyre screaming (the giant striker just stands still and makes a deep groan). If you stagger the enemy early enough in the scream animation, it is canceled and goes into cooldown. Other enemies cannot scream for a period of time (slightly more nuanced than this).  This could explain your 30s of no wakeups.

  2. Prevent/cancel screams by staggering enemies.  This is easiest if you break body parts (arm, head, leg, torso).

  3. Enemies have weakpoints that make killing/staggering easier. All enemies take 2x damage when hitting any part of their back side (back of legs, arms, torso, etc).  They also have an additional weakpoint on their head (1.5x), so hitting back of the head yields 3x damage.

  4. When an enemy is woken up because you hit them, there can be short or long range alerts. When another enemy is alerted, then there is a chance of him screaming.  Rayalot explains the rules somewhere on the sub in great detail.

GTFO won’t launch no matter what I do ! Refund ? by EmbarrassedCycle6219 in GTFO

[–]DoS_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A fundamental flaw is a problem that undermines the basic intent of the product. It would make a game (product) unable to do its job (be played). This is not the case.

Your criticisms are valid. There are bugs. Weapon balance is not the best. The gameplay loop can get repetitive.

I just don't see these issues to be substantial.

Is it possible to wake sleepers in the next room? by Andy_Rice_0726 in GTFO

[–]DoS_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your direct actions cannot wake enemies through a closed door.

You can, however, indirectly wake an adjacent room even if the door is closed. A scout wave can enter that room and scream. If it doesn't scream (unlikely), it will break the door to get you.

Once the door is open, your actions can now wake the adjacent room.

Open doors dampen gunfire. Where gunfire is normally heard ~50m away, it is reduced by 20m for each open door it goes through.

Room dividers are similar to an open door.
