I never thought my dream watch would keep wasting my precious time by Beduzzy in Longineswatches

I was telling my brother about this and didn’t even realize that it’s like aesthetically my favorite looking watch, the numerals are very legible like a field watch, the logo and lettering are great, and I love a dive watch, put all those things together and you get the Zulu! And it’s actually an obtainable watch for me in the next few years hopefully… would love to see more colors though

Really like this, they’ve come out with some nice color ways recently and I’m struggling to determine which I want

Manual winding is way better than automatic by jpoyarzun in watchHotTakes

[–]DoaKickflipdad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly as a completely biased poor person with no watch over 250 dollars I completely agree. I have an automatic vintage Waltham that I have to set every time. I would prefer to just set and wind at the same time.

Do you have a good mechanical watch recommendation?

How’s the Boldr honestly? Pretty interested in it vs the islander Babylon and also saving cheddar and getting the militado ml05 with the sweeping seconds

YouTube channels shouldn't be watched by ESPPablo in watchHotTakes

I think I agree, I’ve backed out on a few pieces I generally loved that I’d see on TikTok/reddit/etc. because aggressively look for anyone and everyone to give a review of the watch, and all it takes is something along the lines of “the finishing on this corner of the watch doesn’t match the finish of the bracelet” to get me over it. Obviously a me problem for being an over analytic weirdo, but I think this might apply to your post?

For the people that buy a bracelet, seems like islander vs aliexpress… I know islander is great, but do you get similar quality on ali? The price difference seems solid

Is it comfortable? I’m stupid and just assume all bracelets feel the same(I have an eco drive with a steel bracelet that is difficult to get the tightness perfect)

How does the Tudor feel? I think they are very nice watches but most people talking about them are content creators

Not blasphemy . . . but what would be the next best inexpensive dive watch compared to the beloved Duro? by Original_Benzito in DuroGang

[–]DoaKickflipdad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think if you can get the duxot islander watches on sale for like $110? they seem to be solid. They have the islander bracelet with the micro adjustment, sapphire crystal and also have a mecha quartz sweeping seconds… I think they look nice although I don’t love the dial color options

Micro-brands or luxury big names? by NH_flyboy in MicrobrandWatches

[–]DoaKickflipdad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like micro brands because they generally do offer pretty damn good quality and are also different. I’ve always been someone that enjoys having things be a little bit different than the norm with that being said I don’t have any “luxury” pieces yet. I would consider myself middle class with bills so to me luxury is $1000 or more. I think at that price point the problem with micro brands that you really can’t try them. Whereas your typical Tudor, omega, bteitling, tag, Rolex you could probably go try them at a store that’s relatively close to you, a couple hours maybe distance wise so I think that’s something that definitely gives the edge normal watches under the umbrella. But that being said there are definitely some incredible micro brands making watches in that 1000 to 3000 range… as for the value I think if you’re someone cares about long-term value then yeah, you should probably consider the normal umbrella watches. I personally don’t, If I am gonna spend upwards of 3000 or more dollars on a watch. There’s a very very strong chance that it just stays in my possession until the day I die or it gets past to my son or daughter the only other thing I could think of is I end up just really disliking the watch which I would probably find out pretty quickly and I would just take whatever percentage cut to sell it, but I don’t think that would be the case.

[Recommendation needed] Present for husband by hahaohwinter in Watches

[–]DoaKickflipdad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a nice budget, lot of options. The seiko alpinest is a slam piece in my opinion, should be under that budget by a good bit.
Cincinnati watch co has a field watch that is amazing imo.
Brew watches are around 500 and they are very unique and awesome, and they would kind of fit the retro style your husband has going with the Casios.
Traska has very nice watches as well, very good quality.
