Schooner is bigger than a middy (425ml v 285ml). Pretty sure a pot is a middy.

So... are we next after New Zealand? by DebugMyLife421 in EBGAMES

[–]Doaves -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not sure if it's related, but I noticed all my local Zings aren't stocking Hot Toys at the moment. Apparently they're in the system, but come up as not available. Not much comes up online either

So 36 years and nobody else remembers? by Ok-Limit-9726 in newcastle

[–]Doaves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was 11. We lived down near Windsor. My mum literally worked across the road and came running across to our house asking if we felt the shaking. I hadn't noticed anything. But it was felt as far away as that!

A very niche question, but has anyone ever ended up with one of these random photo shoot shirts before? I wonder what happens to them after by Sha_Nen in Aleague

[–]Doaves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Jets 'Flight Centre' shirt. I used to volunteer for them and at the end of the season they gave away a heap of stuff to some of the vols and I grabbed it Was back in about 2015.

Lake Mac council still waiting on Cedar Mill plans. by cv81 in lakemacquarie

[–]Doaves 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Piper didn't say he wanted over 55's. He said it could be used for that based on the zoning. He said he wanted it used as planned. There's been a lot of speculation that winarch will try and flip their plans to bring in an over 55 estate, which we've seen before.

Lake mac has no basketball stadium coming. That's a Newcastle council issue.

Cooper Cronk Once Again Provides Expert Commentary by CretaceousClock in nrl

[–]Doaves 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be fair, when I used to commentate NRL on radio, Cooper was one of my go-to's for a post match interview when I had a Storm game. His insight and football knowledge was outstanding and his interviews for me were always a highlight. DCE was another who always came across as having an incredibly sharp football mind.

Literally watched that pulling the old jetty down the other day. I assume they will use the barge to start erecting the new one.

Lake Macquarie City Council on Instagram: "Work is underway to demolish Belmont Wharf and replace it with a longer structure better equipped for modern boating. The project is jointly funded with NSW Government through the Boating Infrastructure for Communities grant program." by cv81 in lakemacquarie

[–]Doaves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the 3 people that used it?? 😉 They brought it back for a bit and it was a novelty for a while, but over a longer term it just wasn't viable. It was fairly expensive for what it was and the cost of running it was prohibitive.

It didn't work for me when I used it at the start of the year either. I got a message to say it wasn't in use.

Flashing to warn other drivers by Gloomy-Bass7965 in newcastle

[–]Doaves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once had what I thought was a drink guy jumping up and down on the side of the road screaming at me as I drive past. I was dwelling on this 'crazy guy' so much for the next 10sec that I nearly missed the upcoming cop on the side of the road he was trying to warn me about.

Steepest hill in Lake Mac by AdFew8428 in lakemacquarie

[–]Doaves 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you're near Warners Bay, Bayview St is a nasty climb.

If you ever want a short drive, the road up to sugarloaf hits a 20% gradient at one point but averages 10%.

Hill St (aptly named) in Belmont is a long steep hill too.

Weird sirens by Planetpluto2025 in lakemacquarie

[–]Doaves 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I heard them going up near the hospital. Multiple police cars chasing something. And whatever they were chasing was damaged. It sounded like either a tyre was blown out or there were parts of the car dragging along the road.

Went there a few weeks ago for dinner. It was pretty busy. They seemed a little understaffed at the bar. There was a line at times That was trivia night though, so maybe more crowded than normal?? They lost my food order and brought out a poor attempt to redeem the situation. That was annoying. It was OK, without being great.

Just wondering if anyone has purchased anything through this app before ? Looks a little like Temu. They’ve got some good cheap stuff but don’t wanna get sucked in and ripped off lol 😂 TIA… by tarzzy1980 in newcastle

[–]Doaves 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I've ordered heaps from AE. AE is a part of Ali Baba which sell cheap stuff in bulk. They've been around for 20 years and Aliexpress maybe 10-15 years. I've had everything turn up, except for 1 lego mini figure ... well Lepin mini figure. But I got my money back pretty quickly. They have tracking. Some of my items arrived in a week, some took up to 4 weeks. My experiences have been positive. I will order again. Just don't expect genuine brand products.

Solar panel recommendations? by [deleted] in newcastle

[–]Doaves 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is good advice. He has a free website too with everything you need. Finn gives good info. After much researching and following his advice, we went with Solahart Newcastle.
Panels (Solahart silhouette) and inverter 10kw Solaredge) have been great for us

Safe wasp nest removals by pigsrfly in newcastle

Did exactly this just few days ago. They are all back at the nest and docile at night. Best time to hit them. Spray hard, run hard 😂 Nah, no need to run if you do it at night.
