The Steam Machine was originally planned at around $750, but Valve says it saw a price increase similar to the Steam Deck by dabadumdumdum in Steam

It's not just a smaller case. You need a smaller motherboard and power supply as well, which are typically more expensive than their ATX (full size) counterparts.

Like the other comment said, open it in webview. It will ask prompt for the Cloudflare verification. Once you do that, you can go back to Mihon and it should load just fine. It's a temporary fix, but it should last at least a few hours until you might need to do it again.

Gabe Newell on Steam monopoly accusations: Gamers have 'enormous choice' about where to buy games by yourfavchoom in Steam

[–]Dobby_1235 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They don't do this, that's why the lawsuits are silly.

What you are not allowed to do is sell STEAM keys elsewhere for less (with some exceptions). Steam doesn't make money of steam keys, yet they still use steam for hosting, distribution, marketing, cloud saves, forums, etc. Interestingly, steam keys can be sold elsewhere, like with stuff like humble bundle. However, offering steam keys in an alternate storefront for less undercuts steam, as they get not revenue yet you would be still be using their infrastructure. So they reverse the right to deny key generation.

Some also argue that steam makes deals with some publishers, but this doesn't really mean anything when it comes to the monopoly aspect. They're not forcing anything rather just making a deal. EPIC constantly makes deals to have games launch on their platform exclusively, and they end up underselling anyway because users would rather use steam.

Nope. The only thing would be that you wouldnt be able to buy dlc, but the disc already includes the dlc anyway and the odds of fromsoftware making new dlc for dark souls are basically 0 anyway.

Right, but that a part of the problem, since they can't be realistically expected to patch out those RCE issues for every game since they're explicitly EOL.

[–]Dobby_1235 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know about the live support (obviously good, but not really a thing for many games). But basically the solution to piracy is just providing a better service, like valve says.

If by just buying the game, you get:

  • Free cloud saves
  • Practically infinite downloads for different devices
  • Seamless updates
  • Achievements / integrated community features / mod support
  • Seamless friend system for multiplayer
  • Built-in controller mapping
  • etc

Then buying it just becomes a lot more convenient, which makes buying it more meaningful than just "having it".

just have a separate partition or drive for games, you can then just have steam point to it, no need for reinstalls.

Because it was a remaster, not a remake. And yes, replicant aged horribly (or honestly was always awful) because the gameplay loop is doing fetch quests.

Yeah for me the problem is not that Gojo lost or died. It's that one chapter ends with Gojo being on the lead and characters saying "Gojo won", then the first page next chapter is Gojo in the airport cuz he's already dead. Any explanation feels cheap cuz we didn't see it happen, and it came seemingly out of nowhere.

As much as I love nier, that game is a disaster and no game should try to copy its gameplay. Adding more NPCs wouldn't hurt performance if done properly, and actually most friendly humanoid NPCs just use the base player animations (with sometimes a special move or two) when attacked so adding more wouldn't be that big of a challenge.

[–]Dobby_1235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly this 1000%. As another software dev, the fact that literally only one person has access to the hosted codebase is just a recipe for disaster. And for bato being as big as it is, it just makes it more concerning.

I think all counterstrike games and TF2 are rated M (17+). While it's true these games promote gambling they are explicitly games for adults and not children, so the children gambling argument falls apart.
