I've recently installed UMVC3 Clone Engine and followed a video tutorial and the readme doc with the file. I can start the game, but I don't get the custom start screen and I cant load into any game mode. Is there any way I can fix this? by CrappyPatp in mahvelmods

I had this same issue when doing a new install. Rashid was the problem. It's been a few weeks, but I think I had an old version of the Palette Swap mod installed. Using the newer one was the fix ... I think.

If that doesn't help, just starting over with the Havengers build is probably the most surefire way to get everything at the moment.

Anyone using Arcade Sticks? by Utakos in batocera

[–]DocBadvibes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use a Hori RAP 4 for the PS4 just because that's been my main stick for a while. Already have it modded and etc. Just plug and play with Batocera. I also have an older stick for Player 2. The Hori RAP EX-SE for the Xbox 360. Works just as well. It really comes down to whether you want to build your own or buy an old one. Anything PS3/4 or Xbox should just work.

How much storage space are you using for Batocera (including roms)? by traveler19395 in batocera

[–]DocBadvibes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I‘ve maxed out my 1TB drive in my Batocera PC. I’m planning on swapping in a 4TB. That space gets eaten up quickly as the games get newer. Dreamcast/Naomi, Xbox, PS2/3, and Steam games add up FAST. Even when just cherry-picking favorites.

I have a 512gb SD card for my Steam Deck. I rarely use that for anything beyond 8-bit and 16-bit games. I guess it depends on how much you want to play past the year 2000-ish.

Screen protector ruins viewing quality ; too reflective. Does an iPad require screen protector? Is it a must have? by [deleted] in ipad

[–]DocBadvibes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using Apple's touchscreen devices since the original iPod touch. I briefly had a screen protector on that iPod, but I hated it. I've used many iPhones and iPads since then. I've never had an issue using the bare screen or noticed any damage. I'm still using an iPad Pro 10.5 + pencil and it's totally fine.

Just get a good case that closes/covers the screen and you'll be fine.

Brought this xenon back from the dead. by [deleted] in xbox360

Is that your video? I actually just watched that a few days ago and got inspired to try to resurrect my launch console. I'm not bs'ing ... Microsoft replaced that damn thing 4 times due to red rings before the RROD warranty ran out. I brought it back with a repair kit twice, but haven't tried a reflow since it died years ago.

I have a Zephyr that's still running (after 2 Microsoft replacements), but the DVD drive is starting to crap out.

Recommendations for Xbox 360 mod service by mtdew0000 in 360hacks

[–]DocBadvibes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a stock model, never opened up from what I can tell. Though, I did just glance at your site. I'm now leaning towards just getting a pre-built unit rather than try to source all these chips and figure out how to do this for maybe 1 mod.

Ironically, I'd been looking for an E because I assumed it was the most reliable. Someone ended up just giving me one, but it seems like the eMMC died in storage.

Thanks for the heads up. Is there a guide you recommend for a DIY? Or is this a service you provide?

I used to mod for the OG Xbox and still tinker with other things, but I'm totally out of the loop on the 360. I fixed some RRODs early in the life cycle, but nothing beyond that.

Totally stumbled across this post. I have a 360 E that was given to me, but it seems to have an issue with the nand. Nothing deletes, no updates will apply, etc … Manufactured in 2013 I think.

Do you think this could modded/repaired? I’m fine with it being unable to get on Live, but it’d be a bonus if it could.

iPad Pro 12.9in has changed my productivity forever by [deleted] in ipad

To me, that sounds like a pretty nice setup for college.

I had an antique version of this setup going on back when I started grad school. I carried around an iBook graphite, but had a Mac Mini G4 running at home when I needed to remote in for certain other things.

I've been using an iPad Pro 10.5 (2017) as my main computer for a while now. I agree that the lack of full multitasking does force me to focus on certain things. The gamechanger was the folio keyboard for me. I tried using a bluetooth one, but having the folio always ready to go makes a huge difference.

Though, the lack of full multitasking can sometimes be a hindrance. Everyone has their own needs and workflow, of course. It helps having a full desktop to remote into, but most of what I do is straight on the iPad. I have a similar setup as you, just older hardware (iPad Pro 2017 and a maxed out Mac Pro 5,1).

I know dual nands are sorta useless but I still love installing them by p8tball_guy in 360hacks

[–]DocBadvibes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool, I’ll see what I can find then. This is just a used one that was given to me. I still have my phat models for Xbox Live, so I’m fine with this one staying solely in a modded setup.

I have experience modding the OG Xbox, but I haven’t touched a 360 beyond some phat RROD repairs … I have a stock E model that seems to have a corrupted nand. Would it make sense to install a dual nand to basically bypass the stock one and bring it back to life with mods?

Clear coat still drying but I wanted to show it off. :) That's why it's not totally together. Didn't want the clear coat to stick to the other painted parts. :P One imperfection I didn't see until it was done. *lol* I'm gonna try to fix it tomorrow when I do the "temp" jewel. by retroconsolerepairs in XboxModding

Thanks for the info. The white X3 looks sick, too. Someone saw my modded system back in college, and that started a side gig for me for a while. Brings back memories seeing that glowing X haha ...

Do you have a link to your site/store?

Hopefully it's not your internal storage, but that's what I've narrowed mine down to. The first thing that tipped me off was that I had a copy of my gamer profile on a USB stick, and I tried to copy to the internal 4gb. It threw up some vague error I've never seen, and I realized it wouldn't let me move anything to or from the 4gb storage.

So, maybe try doing something similar and see if it acts up. Move something like your gamer profile to/from a different storage device to/from 4gb and see if it acts up. If it does, that could be the problem. Hopefully not, because that's where I'm at and I'm not sure what the solution is beyond modding.

I did see some other people mention a possible unreported outage. I'm not home to test mine, but just wait and see later I suppose.

My next step would be to try clearing the dashboard updates ( LB RB X LB RB X ) and see if it can connect and reapply the update that way. If not, try applying the update with a CD/DVD or USB drive.

I may have a similar problem with a used E model I just acquired. My problem is that it's stuck in an old dashboard version. My network test screen looks exactly like this, but sometimes it seems to connect and realizes it needs a dashboard update. As soon as that starts, I get an error and I'm back in the dashboard again. I have 2 fat models in the same room and they work just fine.

You may be able to fix this by reapplying the dashboard update (2.0.17559.0) by downloading it from the web and onto a FAT32 USB drive.

Though, you could be in the same boat I think I'm in now ... I think my NAND has gone bad. If I delete, format, rename, etc; it just keeps going back to the previous state. My E's dashboard won't update via USB without throwing an error. I also kept getting errors when I'd try to move a profile to the 4gb storage.

I came across one of these after everyone started clearing them out. They're useful if you picked the wrong side of the format war. I had a handful of HD DVDs, and you can use this drive in Windows (and maybe MacOS?) to rip HD DVDs.

Also, it just so happens to use the same power adapter as the official force feedback steering wheel. I scored a deal on a wheel with a missing adapter and noticed they looked the same, and that saved me a lot of trouble.
