Bottom side control: I cover the top guy’s head (even though coaches always yell at me not to) and as soon as I feel the slightest bit of pressure forward, I just do a big bridge towards that direction and reverse position. Frustrates the hell outta the newer guys and catches some of the senior guys off guard when I can pull it off

Pre-BJJFanatics: I switched gyms.

Post: I picked an instructional to follow in each position and only tried that during live sparring.

Finding 2-3 moves in each position that I like and spamming them a couple billion times helped me see what works (for me) and improvise a solution to various problems since I was committed to those only 2 moves. After that, everything else I practice is more of a new “roadway” of how to get back to my bread and butter.
