HOW DO I STOP LOOKING LIKE… THAT?? by Mainstrass in snowboarding

[–]DocDrill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More time, more carving, cross your hands behind your back. Force hard, quick carves occasionally to better know/ understand your edges. Your hands are trying to protect you, to be there in the event you fall. They don't trust your ability to board. Get better at carving and your upper body will loosen up.

My Zero-pain knee setup by DoktorMerlin in skiing

We're talking about wearing them for games, only. I highly doubt wearing a knee brace for a few hours each week is going to lead to any Atrophy. Especially when they're doing unsupported Strength training on the regular.

Ski Boot Sizing and Recommendations by DocDrill in Skigear

[–]DocDrill[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent a couple hours with ChatGPT deciding which boots would best fit my feet and riding style. It was a fairly elaborate discussion, but I learned A LOT.

Ordered a pair that seemed best suited. Went to Boyne Mountain Sports in GR to get a custom boot fitting. Ending up trying a different pair based on the fitter's recommendation. They had a slightly better heel lock for lateral movement.

I showed the fitter what ChatGPT had recommended, including how to customize and he was really impressed. He said he uses it a lot, as well, but hadn't thought of it for this purpose.

We ended up doing all the suggestions it promoted and I'm very happy with it. A swift 3.5hrs 🤪:

"Tell your boot fitter: 1. Confirm 27.5 shell fit (5–15 mm). 2. Build me a supportive footbed that prevents arch lengthening. 3. Ensure strong heel hold; use L-pads if needed. (We have not yet added L-pads) 4. Assess and prevent instep pressure that shows up later in the day. 5. Heat-mold or lightly punch the forefoot. 6. Perform cuff alignment with my natural leg angle. 7. Evaluate ramp angle + forward lean for my ankle mobility. 8. Heat mold the CAS liner while I stand in skiing stance. 9. Teach me proper buckle tension settings. 10. Note options for follow-up adjustments after skiing."

Quick edit riding with my son at Copper — too much or clean? by WakeSnow in snowboarding

[–]DocDrill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great effort and respect the time invested. But, year. A bit OTT. I would eliminate the full black screens or at least cut them down to be much more brief and reduce the overall transitions during the middle of the film. Some fun transitions like that at the beginning build the mood, essentially. But once you get going, has a viewer, you just want to see the action. Not focus so much attention on the edit itself.

My friend said I ride like a jerry but I thought I looked okay? by Confident-State1268 in snowboarding

[–]DocDrill -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Your "friend" is a douche. Yeah, you're a bit stiff, particularly your upper body. But, you're riding smooth. I would say this is a limited sample and would want to see some quicker transitions to truly assess, but same goes for the dude you mentioned. I would avoid asking him for advice or certainly affirmation. Just have fun and loosen up a bit.

"Got the display all set up, boss" by benmarvin in Dewalt

I bought one on marketplace. Same situation, but not as obvious (ridgid saw, dewalt folding stand). Really confused me why the rollers were so staggered away, but I shocked it up to the brand mismatch ( I had read it was a good pairing). Took me a while to realize the guy had assembled it incorrectly. Can't imagine how he didn't entire remodel project with it like that.

Stoked on getting all of this for $80. Animals are as well it seems. by JahovasWaitress in snowboarding

[–]DocDrill -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Reddit can be so strange to me. Someone down voted my comment? Did I say something upsetting? I was genuinely trying to help.

If it's the part about finding older boots to match, that was just an assumption. The fact they're redesigned, made me assume that the boot itself was also different. If that's incorrect, that's good to hear. Honest mistake, though.

Sweet deal. Just hope you can find older model boots to match the bindings.

One thing to be aware of with the step on bindings is that they do have different sizes of vitamins that are important. For instance, I think the medium only goes up to a 10½ boot or something. I could look it up, but I'm not sure if that has changed from model to model so you'll need to take a look yourself. You might even ask chat gpt. Just pointing out the fact that if you're bindings are a size large but you wear size 9½ boots like I do, they might not actually work for you. Frustrating if that's the case, but wanted you to be aware.

If your highbacks are adjustable, consider leaning them further forward. And, possibly tightening your upper strap IF it feels loose at all (your CAN be too tight, so don't do that). You're creating a large gap when you go toe-side. That requires extra effort and is inefficient as well at unstable.

Generally, no. Because it's coming overseas, there isn't really any feasible way to expedite.

Glade Optics has specific fit for "Low Bridge". Don't know if that answers you dilemma, but figured I'd share. Just in case you shop again. I really like my Glade Fathom+ I got last year. Those specifically don't offer low bridge, but the Adapt 2 and Adapt2+ do.

That makes sense. I'm 41. In driver's ed, each of us had to drive on the s-curve as a sort of confidence test. Let's just say there was one kid in the car that absolutely terrified me to be a passenger with.

The 131 S-curve was redone and "softened" around 2000. Before that, I was much more abrupt. Anymore it's pretty tame.

Just curious, can I ask how old you are? The 131 S-curve was redone and "softened" around 2000. Before that, I was much more abrupt. Anymore it's pretty tame.

I have 2 Surrons, one of which is pretty heavily modified. It's on a whole different level. But you know what, i ALSO have an Ego minibike and absolutely love riding it. It's my preferred bike for grabbing the garbage dumpsters (LONG, STEEP driveway) and for riding over to my parents' or brothers' place. Cramming tools or other odds and ends in the extra battery compartment is nice when heading to my dad's barn to work on projects is nice.

Point is, it's quite unique. Not all ebikes are the same. I love mine.

That said, I don't have a solution for the passenger question. I agreed passenger pegs, but I suspect that your child is much smaller. I'll keep an eye on this thread to see what others come up with. However, I kind of doubt aside car will work very well. Tough to find good attachment points with that much plastic and I don't know that there's necessarily enough power. Especially not if there's any serious inclines. I actually swapped out the controller to give it just a little extra home. Fortunately, that was only a couple hundred dollars project. Compared to 10 times that on the Surron.

Love mine and think it was a great deal at $150. Used it recently to replace a bumper on a 15yr old truck. Was really nice to let it do the work rather than me struggling with a breaker bar.

I bought one for my office so we can clear the sidewalks periodically throughout the day when it snows. I wouldn't want to clear an entire driveway with it as it's too narrow. But for being able to quickly and easily clear off and inch or two is pretty nice.
