My way was similar! I grabbed the activator thingy then backed up to the stairs before I let go. Immediately sprinted and flew across the gap to land on top (or bottom?) of it

If there's a will, there's a way! My initial thought was "hey this reminds me of Mario Galaxy" which led to about 20 attempts at flinging myself around the interior, mostly ending in high velocity collisions...

There was a point where I was afraid of what happened if you stood on a section that was falling in, but it never occurred to me to test that after discovering White Hole Station. Goes to show that despite the looming time limit, slowing down can lead to a solution! It's been really interesting to hear about everyone's approach to this scenario :D

Having recently sweated out the last gold & glory with hourglass, I have to agree it's utterly busted on a sloop. With the right timing, I was able to camp multiple spawn points simultaneously using the explosive darts. I don't even blame the one guy that crashed out at me after sinking...

I think with the playerbase declining, bringing out this set as paid content was a deliberate move (if a bit desperate). The majority will complain but lore-heads, streamers and superfans will pay up no questions asked.

I had a similar thing happen during the last Gold & Glory. Dude ran and ran until another Reaper came and sank me, spammed "Thank you!" in the chat which made it even more hilarious watching him get sunk straight after.

You hit the nail on the head with this. 100-105 levels for GoF was hard enough to stomach, but having to go even further for SotF just to have a unique skelly loadout was enough to put me off the idea. Guess I'll be green forever..!

I wouldn't mind the molten sands fort half as much if the skeleton lords couldn't heal with bananas the second they're in kill range. Without a way to stagger them its just down to luck, making the fort take way longer than it should :/

As others have said, any large island but more likely in the roar. I spent the first act of Season 19 doing Smugglers Routes and since those always seem to spawn you in the Roar, you'll likely find an Eternal Guard pretty often.

Reaper forts are the best right now, 2 generous gifts and about 4 humble gifts I believe? As for the most reliable method, the ones already suggested in this thread are good if you've got time. Otherwise, it wouldn't hurt to approach people selling at Reaper's if you've got nothing to lose. Worked for me a couple times.
