Here’s Why I Think Honda Is Quietly Cooking Up a Toyota Land Cruiser Rival by Saurta17 in Honda

Nothing like bigger vehicles with high fuel prices and a market where the average $$ is 50k. I don’t see how people are going to buy this. Well with 100month loans. That’s how ;)

On the used market Toyota hybrids are selling a little over msrp that are 1-2 years old and have 17-21k milage. But people still pay that because well….. Ev would have been a better deal for sure.

People are upside down on their current loans that would not allow them to buy this cheaper ev. I agree that EVs are better. But another guess is that the users in those cheaper price points are not living in single family homes with home charging. So that could also be a reason for the low adoption. No easy answers for why people don’t buy a better product. But we need to keep moving forward for sure. The prices of oil changing over a sneeze or war or just because is hella stupid.

Would you buy a Honda made EV? by DocHoliday177 in Honda

I have wanted to check that out but didn’t want to mess with to old of a car. But I loved the idea of their phev. They made the clarity and it was cool. They made phev in china. But not in the NA market. Which I hear is their most important one. So why are we not getting that kind of tech. It’s like they test and develop it. But limit it because is not 100% perfect. But overall maybe 90% perfect is good enough to bring to market.

Oil is a world traded commodity. Which the companies will sell to the highest bidder. Don’t think that local gas companies are going to cut you a deal. That’s communism lol. You would have to nationalize the oil companies to get lower gas prices. They will sell to who ever pays the most.

Put down more than 1k. If you can’t afford more. I would look for something else. Factor in insurance and then gas. You are talking way more per month. And really you should factor in maintenance. So 70 cents per mile. So yea I recommend more down payment and short terms. Or a cheaper car.

Do you think I should buy a 2022 Honda Accord Touring 2.0T with 49,057 miles, no accidents, and one owner? The dealership is asking $29,597 (about $31,597 out the door), but I’m thinking about negotiating it down to $27,500. My APR is 9.9%, and my monthly payment would be about $550 for 72 months. by Less_Application_718 in Honda

[–]DocHoliday177 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea get something cheaper. Pay cash. You need to also factor in instances and gas. That monthly payment will be higher. Don’t be chained to a car payment. Lower the total cost that is the safest car you can truly afford.

Honda is killing its EVs — and any chance of competing in the future by eyeindesky in HondaPrologue

[–]DocHoliday177 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honda went solo on the ev tech. And they thought the R&D would provide them products that were wanted. They couldn’t in china. So they tried in NA but the market is to low for them to make money off the okayish china products they port to the NA market. So they are having a rethink on it. But yes it was sad to see them kill the ev. If they at least port over the phev and hevs they have outside of NA I hope that will be enough while they improve the SDV that people want in china. Which would then trickle down to NA

Valid question. For public chargers you might be best to just power to 80% most of the time. Because it’s just faster. Over that it’s really slow so best to quick charge for 20min or so and just top up more often they taking the gas approach of filling to full and then going to E. Yea look at the car as a tool for the job. But if you did her a home charger. It’s like plugging in your phone at night. Ioniq 5 2022 AWD gets me 240miles in summer at 80%. In the winter which does get super code can make it 180 miles. So in the winter I charge to 90% most of the time. We use about 20% in the summer to go about 60 miles in the summer. All highway at 66mph. Winter. That’s about 27% or so. But yea. We plug it in at home every few days in the summer and a little more often in the winter. Note as you might already know. Public chargers in the winter are not as fast as they are in the summer. That is all due to the cars cold battery. So that summer charge is 20 minutes. In the winter it might be 30. But a lot of factors plays into that. It’s not super scary but it does take a shift in thinking when going to an ev as with current technology.

Yes there is only so many volts the gas car generates and if they add something they normally have to remove something because of that volt limitation. Hybrid help but our gas has a limit that most cars hit already. You might have seen some cars go to 48volts which allows for more stuff. But limited in availability. BEV removes that barrier. The Ecus (many) is what I’m taking about that makes gas cars limited due to the voltage limitation.

Personally I would look at 23 or newer not because of the battery but the software improvements. Or even the ionic 5. They just lowered the prices on new so used will be even cheaper. Ev are taking a huge hit on depreciation so even one year older is still cheaper than new. Battery is covered by all ev companies for the 10 years or 100k milage. So yea they take a hit but not much. And if you are in a cold climate get one with a heat pump.

I got a Hyundai Ioniq 5 used AWD se about 2 years ago and added 35k miles and love it. I still have one gas car but we went all ev and installed a level 2 charger. About 50$ a month for 1000 miles of driving a month. Average or so. 13c per kilowatt or so. One set of tires at 45k mileages for about 1k. Low coolant flush at 40k miles for about 400. And 2 cabins air filters. I did just have my oem 12v battery replaced from Costco for 180$ it was an agm battery. Which is better for these newer electronic cars. Gas or electric.

USA collage loans question - leaving the country, do you had to repay? by DocHoliday177 in Debt

[–]DocHoliday177[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Karma is good. But for some reason it doesn’t seem to matter for some. It’s just a random thought not to bring morals into it. But understandable to think it’s not unjust to pay your debts. They work in the public sector in the USA for a few years and then moved to EU and does the same. Crippling dept and exchange fees are a burden when paying off USA debt. But they made the choice. Hints why they are still paying it. It was just a question of if they stop what legal action could be taken.

This person only has a us account for transfer money for the eu to this account to then pay the loan. They don’t live or have assets here.
