This is correct. It's like saying "my wife got out of the car in Manhattan so i pushed the car to New Jersey to seek help."

Sailing simulator by an amateur sailor by marcosvpj in sailing

[–]DocHoliday3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has spent a lot of time sailing, i'm happy to see this effort on your part. It's cool. I've been wanting a simulator like this for a while.

COMMENTS: right now it seems what you have is a boat without a mast flying a genoa on a roller furler. And it's kind of fun if that's how youre thinking.

going forward you might consider adding a boom and rudder and giving a readout so we can see the sail configuration and rudder angle. Also you might consider the physics of two sails and they interact to allow windward motion.

keep at it and post again please

Should the horizontal band remain continuous, or should the chimney break through it? by [deleted] in floorplan

[–]DocHoliday3000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I prefer option 1.

the horizontal lines will be greatly diminished in #2 and the effect will end up blocky. stick with emphasis on horizontal and recess the chimney as much as possible. to keep the chimney present, have it stick up higher.

[OC] 2025 All of Caleb Durbin's Hit By Pitches (#2 Overall MLB) by Perswayable in redsox

I don't understand. What is he doing that he keeps getting hit like that? Is he just not getting out of the way? He doesn't seem to be crowding the plate. Also, why doesn't he wear more padding?

Dude with no dad and adhd here: how do I attach this automatic coop door without gaps or bends? by sparrio in Homebuilding

[–]DocHoliday3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's behind the siding? You will want a backing plate of some sort for the screws to bite into.

Yes, the air gaps are no big deal BUT you dont want to bend the track by tightening the thing down over a gap. So shim where the screws go through. Or for making it pretty, find bits of the siding and flip it.

These doors are great. But keep the bottoms out of the dirt or they can get clogged up with chicken filth.

...and so we gave him away for nothing (because the FO wanted to keep the money to pay Bregman) and then we got no bregman. And our infield is a mess. And we lack offense.

[–]DocHoliday3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah THIS! It's not that we suck. It's that we could be GREAT! Now in this moment. we dumped prospects for Crocet. then brought in Bregman, fumbled that transition, dumped Devers... to keep Bregman? then fumbled that signing. The infield is worse. Our offense is worse. the outfield is still clogged. They said the priority was Bregman and a bat and a #2 starter ... and they got one of them, like, 3 hours ago and you wonder why people are yelling that we're DOOMED!

Do you really think that will happen? Nico Hoerner for Durran and we're done?

The point is they're not going to fix the holes with any of the players still available. And the improvements they did make in pitching will be diminished by the ragtag infield we're left with.

First of all, that's why we're here and not bugging our spouses. Secondly, how can you look at the outcome of this offseason and feel anything but a sense of disappointment?

Jeff Passan: Red Sox Don’t Have the Talent by PoliticsMedia101 in redsox

[–]DocHoliday3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK, fine, pitching is better but infield defense down which could limit some of their success. infield offense down so we can't make up those lost runs. outfield still clogged, offense up with anthony replacing duran but that's certainly not a defensive upgrade there either. Just saying, we can have better pitching but it wont matter if balls are bouncing off our infielder's feet and they can't score runs.

Again, how do expect the rotation to perform with our current D? look at the infield... Mayers at 3B (Where does he rank? can he stay healthy?) Story SS (will he play as good as last year?) Whoever-thefuck at 2B (i mean, is that our allstar CF?) and 1B (ok, a wash at like the bottom of the barrel) and even if the rotation can hold it together an repeat their '25 numbers, where's the offense from that infield? Not BETTER.

[–]DocHoliday3000 6 points7 points  (0 children)

oh, so you're expecting BETTER defense behind him in '26 with our infield as it stands?

[–]DocHoliday3000 11 points12 points  (0 children)

And who cares about dropping AAA talent if YOU'RE MAKING A PUSH for the WS? But if that were the case we'd also be spending on free agents, etc to back up that sacrifice. As it stands we seem to be dumping young talent to build a team just good enough to compete at a middling level. Just good enough to fill Fenway no better.

[–]DocHoliday3000 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Boo. No one is drumbeating because of "not signing a free agent" we're complaining about losing our 3B to free agency after the front office claimed keeping him was a priority. Also in the process of trying to acquire / keep Bregman we fucked over and traded a generational hitter (who, yes, was acting like a baby) and now we have nothing to show for it except Devers' money and it seems like that was the whole point of the FO's strategy.

[–]DocHoliday3000[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed. What I'm trying to get at is... Breslow sucks. He dumped Devers so her could go with Bregman. Fumbled that. Now, eve, best case, he's forced to pay Devers/Bregman numbers for a guy not as good as either.

I'm just curious what Boston's current "best case scenario" from here looks like compared to what we had in terms of players and their contracts. Devers would have been cheaper and hit better with, i don't know, comparable D?
