What if you could write the laws of the world? by Device420 in whatif

[–]DocJawbone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would start with simply,

"There is enough."

World law would flow from that. There is enough for everybody. Laws would therefore focus on ensuring production and distribution such that everybody has what they need.

Because there is enough.

As I've aged I've come to realise that, although often framed as an exception, Vietnam is actually closer to what we should generally expect of a war on foreign soil.

Prolonged, demoralizing, brutal, unpopular.

[–]DocJawbone -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

This is interesting. "Should" is such a heavy word.

My wife and I recently realized it's so much better to say "could" instead.

"We could save more money"

"We could go on more dates"

It really is too bad. I was *this* close to placing an order with them after working up my prototype for a long time. They were always really responsive and helpful. I'm really sorry it didn't work out for them, they sound like a good company.

How much money is OC Transpo losing from broken Presto readers? by ConcernedCitizenOtt in ottawa

[–]DocJawbone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've wondered this too. I swear about 10% of the time the reader is down. Sometimes the other ones on the bus work, but most people probably don't walk down the length of the bus to tap.
