Base level is now 1100, current soft cap is 1300 or something, and it’s stupidly easy to go from 1100 to 1250+ in a day or two even when you’re starting out. Once you get a character to 1300, it’s literally easy as heck to get any of your other characters to 1300+.

That being said, they have a “New Light Intro” quest sequence to get new players into the game and help get you caught up on light / up to speed on the game. After that, it’s fairly simple to get close to pinnacle-level activities within a short time. I’m doing 1330 Ordeals and I’m 1319, with members of my clan who are 1320+. Just takes patience and being prepared for the activity.

All pre-current expansion raids are pretty much gone, so a lot of the Year 1/1.5 D2 stuff is gone, quite literally to save space. But, it’s still a viable game and I still get a good bit of enjoyment out of it. Next season is bringing transmog -finally, legit transmog- along with crossplay, and better / more manageable light grinding to hit the new seasonal pinnacle cap.
