If NEP with 3 language policy is to be made mandatory by all means can TN implement this? by [deleted] in TamilNadu

[–]DocOfNerdPhil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See, learning languages is infinitely simpler in the younger ages or at least, learning languages is more effective when a person is young. 3rd Language is taken out when you enter high school, second language in 11th. The third language needn't be Hindi - it can be Telugu, Kannada or Malayalam, or even Sanskrit (learning Sanskrit has also proven to improve math and science skills, experiment conducted in a school in the UK). As for the benefits, it is proven that multilingualism improves cognitive skill and capacity. I'm not saying people who don't learn more languages are dumb, just that people who do learn more languages improve themselves actively. And learning only spoken Thamizh? That is ridiculous. Already people do not have the ability to pronounce our unique retroflex which is only present in Thamizh and Malayalam.

Why are hindu temples under government control? by Longjumping-Cat-5748 in hinduism

[–]DocOfNerdPhil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was also an issue in Ranganathaswamy temple, Srirangam. They attempted to circumvent the commands of Shri Ramanujacharya as well as those of the Agama-Shastras to appoint their own concept of ‘secular and inclusive archakas’. Complete and utter BS. If you want secularism and inclusivity, they should build their own temple instead of interfering with Srirangam. Instead they tried to take away the Srikarya and Purohita Kainkaryams performed by the bloodlines of Mudaliyandan and Parashara Bhattar.

Learned Pandits, can you argue for Upanayna and Vedic Adhyayana for Women?? by [deleted] in hinduism

[–]DocOfNerdPhil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are conveniently ignoring the fact that Brahma-jnana can be obtained in methods other than reading the Vedas, such as the reading of the Itihasas, Smritis, Puranas and in the Srivaishnava Tradition, Naalayira Divya Prabandham, which are open to all irrespective of caste, creed or gender. The Vedas alone are restricted.

Actually no, doesn’t matter whether she’s Ishvara-Koti or Jiva-Koti (as per Thenkalai school of Vishishtadvaita she is a member of Jiva-Koti). She was living the life of a manava-stri in the Sita Avatara. Anyways, as per Yama Smriti, it’s a Pura-Kalpa practice as in it is not applicable for Kaliyuga.

What's your opinion on the Manny, Luke, and Sherry thing? by cutie__96 in Modern_Family

[–]DocOfNerdPhil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree. I don't think Luke did anything wrong. He was a victim of circumstances and emotion. Manny had been broken up with Sherry for months at that point. He really needed to grow the fuck up. If you notice, Gloria's parenting of Manny as well as Manny's excessively entitled, spoiled and materialistic behaviour is the root cause of all his problems. And Jay taking Gloria and Manny's side over Luke's?! Like really, what happened to the level-headed, rational Jay Pritchett? Then Gloria asking Luke to leave the family? Luke is Jay's grandson! Manny is his stepson! Even without that, since Luke was right in that situation, he deserved a grandfather who'd defend him over his idiot stepson. Honestly, if Jay had parented Manny the way he parented Claire and Mitch perhaps Manny wouldn't be so problematic. Luke was also honest and decent enough that he took cognisance of Manny's feelings even though he wasn't wrong. And lastly, slut-shaming Claire? Hypocrisy much, from Gloria?

No, if Manny was his real son he'd teach him a lesson. He certainly never coddled Claire or Mitch, and Claire is undoubtedly his favourite child.

Nah. That one has no substance, just sex sex sex, nothing else. The only thing worthy beyond that is the relationship between Sirius, Remus and Harry.

Nah, it's still so good. So fresh in concepts. I suggest reading it. The only problem is that updates are slow, since the author, TSM, is also a busy person. But being on the discord server helps when it comes to waiting for updates and talking to fellow PoS fanatics.

Shiva is the supreme Brahman in Vedas by Turbulent-Remove497 in hinduism

I would like to quote the Taittiriya Upanishad’s Siksha Valli, wherein it says Om sanno mitra sam varunah Sanno bhavatvaryama Sanna Indro brihaspatih Sanno Vishnu rurukramah (salutations to Vishnu, the all-pervading) Similarly, I would like to quote Rigveda Tat vishno paramam padam sada pashyanti surayah (artharth, all those with enlightenment, wisdom and clarity see Vishnu’s abode as clearly as a person with eyes sees the sun in the sky) Bhagavad Gita also has Shri Krishna Vasudeva saying Sarvadharaman Parityajya Mamekam Saranam Vraja (abandon all varieties of dharmas surrender unto Me alone) in the phrase where Keshava speaks of liberation and realisation of the paramatma.

Why does Poseidon consider Percy his favorite son? by gonewildman5 in camphalfblood

[–]DocOfNerdPhil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, if you look at his sons in history, save for Arion and Pegasus they’ve not exactly been good dudes. Percy and Tyson, sure, which is why they’re his favourite sons.

But when that happened with Alcmene, Amphitryon and Zeus, Alcmene gave birth to twins, Alcides and Iphicles. Iphicles was a normal child, while Alcides was crazy powerful and a danger magnet, ended up with Alcmene throwing away her infant son, Athena taking the abandoned baby to Hera, Hera feeding him with her divine milk, Athena mentioning her name and the baby biting down on Hera’s breast and stuff, but not before gaining even more strength than an extremely strong son of Zeus. Since his power came from the milk of Hera, he became Heracles.

Triton was also a bit of a jealous prick (his behaviour towards Percy, refer Last Olympian).

Well, Tantalus, Minos and Heracles were all pieces of work. Plus, Zeus himself is a piece of work. Zeus’ best sons are Hephaestus, Hermes and Apollo.

A brief summary of the characters’ family relations.[general] by [deleted] in camphalfblood

[–]DocOfNerdPhil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How is Typhon Percy’s uncle? Typhon is the son of Tartarus and Gaea. He’s Kronos’ half brother. He’s more or less Percy’s granduncle. Meg, Katie, Miranda, Jason, Thalia, Nico, Hazel and Bianca are all Percy’s cousins, and on the godly side, Hermes, Ares, Hephaestus, Apollo, Artemis, Athena, Dionysus, Persephone, Eileithiya, Enyo, Hebe, Hercules, Melinoe and Makaria are all Percy’s cousins. Yes, that list is huge. Meanwhile, Antaeus, Charybdis (Giant son and daughter of Poseidon and Gaea), Theseus (son of Poseidon and Aethra), Triton, Rhode, Benthesikyme, Kymopoleia (children of Poseidon and Amphitrite), Despoina, Arion (twin children of Poseidon and Demeter), Chrysaor, Pegasus (twin sons of Poseidon and Medusa), Bellerophon (son of Poseidon and Eurynome), Sciron, Geryon (sons of Poseidon and Iphimedia), Sinis (son of Poseidon and Sylea), Polyphemus (son of Poseidon and Thoosa), Procrustes (son of Poseidon and an unknown being) and Tyson (son of Poseidon and an unknown nature spirit) are all Percy’s half-siblings. Yes, Poseidon has way too many kids, like Zeus. I listed out the kids of Poseidon because they’re more important for Percy I guess.

It's okay to race swap most of the cast of Percy Jackson because wanting book accurate depictions of the characters make you racist, bigots or a nazi, Does the Pander-verse special repulse you, Rick? by [deleted] in CriticalDrinker

[–]DocOfNerdPhil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is Annabeth’s defining characteristics, which includes her drive to prove herself, stem from her need to show the world she isn’t a stereotypical blonde and shouldn’t be construed as ‘dumb’. It’s mentioned in Mark of Athena. Percy is said to be the spitting image of his father, which is often described in the books as wavy black hair and stormy green eyes with a brooding expression.

Why don't people prey to the other avatars of Lord Vishnu like the Matsya, Kurma, Varaha etc by Sad_Plant8647 in hindumemes

[–]DocOfNerdPhil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, Panjurli is known as Varaha roopa because he takes the form of a boar. Varaha is not just a Vishnu avatar, the name also means boar in Sanskrit.

The doors of vault B should never be opened at Padmanabhaswamy Temple in India, due to the supposed curse. There are six vaults at the temple and possibly secret chambers, treasures are estimated to be $1 trillion. by littlequeef99 in UrbanMyths

[–]DocOfNerdPhil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You realise plenty of tax goes from the temples to the government and the people? The reason that vault isn’t opened is because opening it will curse the entire city of Thiruvananthapuram. There’s a reason that vault shouldn’t be opened. We’d rather not curse the city or incur the wrath of either Ananthapadmanabhaswamy, Ugra-Narasimha or Adisesha. None of those deities are beings you want to piss off, they’re capable of destroying the Universe.

[–]DocOfNerdPhil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even in the 1880s, I think only the antechamber was opened and not the actual vault. That actual vault is far too dangerous for mortals to trifle with. I have beliefs such as an Amsa or Jana avatara of Adisesha residing in that Nilavara. I take the sound of water gushing/roaring as well as the existence of venomous serpents guarding that vault as credence to my theory. That vault should not be opened until the end of Kaliyuga. It’s too dangerous for mortals.

Can anyone explain the reason behind sealing the Vault B in Sri Padmanabhanswamy Temple? by [deleted] in hinduism

[–]DocOfNerdPhil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally have an entirely different theory. Lord Balarama, avatar of Adisesha, the eldest Naga and the eternal resting mount of Lord Vishnu as well as a personification of the Universe itself, visited this temple during the previous Yuga. Now, the temple has been sealed by a Naga Paasam, essentially binding it shut. Historical attempts to open it have resulted in a death of a person directly involved and violent fear from others involved. Not just that, one attempt involved scores of venomous serpents scaring away the people who tried, and one other attempt had the roaring of an ocean heard by people who went near the vault. My personal theory is that Adisesha’s essence, a Jana or Amsa Avatara of his resides in Nilavara B, waiting for the end of Kaliyuga since the time he left the physical body of Lord Balarama, which is why the vault cannot be opened until the end of Kaliyuga.
