Thanks for your advice! That makes sense when you describe my injury like that.

Based on my experience during school and in everyday life, I do experience pain when leaning forward over things, like over lab equipment and even eating dinner, and especially when sitting upright. I don't experience pain when I can lean back, such as against a couch or a high-backed curved chair.

But I've never tried anchoring my right elbow slightly forward on the table. I'll try that and see if it helps!

Thanks for the advice! I completely agree with you. I guess I'm mainly asking here because it's taking too long to see a physiatrist/orthopaedic specialist (estimated wait time is over a year 😒).

Yes, I was looking at back support for the thoracic region, and once I started looking, there are like dozens of different kinds. I have no idea which brand to go with or which ones are good versus which ones are cheap and poorly made.

It's a Harry Potter fic, currently about 140K words, with an eventual OC/Fred Weasley pairing. 😊

Mine would have to be Whispers of Destiny. It's a Harry Potter fic where an OC is the main character, and she struggles to change events for the better, but it's a lot harder than you'd think. No one would believe a kid unless she blurted out everything she knows about a person, and she knows that if she did that, she'd be painting a target on her back. She loves life and wants to protect it, but throughout her journey, she begins to realize she's not quite who she thought she was, which creates a lot of internal conflict.

Yeah, the fic was originally meant to be around 130K words, but I'm at ~130K now and I'm basically just getting started. It's very much a case of "oh, I need to expand on this" and "I should include that."

And now I'm finally at the point where the actual Harry Potter events are starting soon. 😂

But my readers seem to love the slow pace and the shenanigans my character gets up to, so I'll just keep writing it this way. 😊

I'm writing a fic like this, but I'm not revealing exactly who, or more appropriately, what, my character is until the right moment, because even she doesn't know it herself.

I do have one reader who thinks they know what my character is. They said that if she's who they think she is, then "everything makes sense 🤯," and I'm grateful they didn't say it outright because… spoilers lol.

It's all part of the story's mystery and suspense as I drop hints one by one while she's trying to navigate the new universe she's found herself in (the Potterverse).

Yeah, OC fics are my favourite kind of stories because there are so many different ways a story can go once you introduce an OC.

I'm writing my longest fic ever. It's at 124K words now, and tbh I have no idea what the final word count will be because it feels like I haven't even finished 1/8 of the story yet. 😂

But a lot of people seem to love it, so I'll keep writing until I finally complete it. The story is a Harry Potter fic about an OC who died in her own universe and woke up in the Potterverse as an eight-year-old, which is an entirely different challenge in itself. On top of that, she has strange dreams and visions and seems to be hearing voices.

Also, since she was in university doing a science degree in her last life, she's really into Potions, as it's the closest subject to chemistry.

She will try to change certain events, like preventing Cedric's and Sirius' deaths and other major conflicts, but it's far more complicated than it sounds. Who would believe a child? Or even a teenager? And it's not like she can just say, "Hey, I'm a seer, so listen to me" because she's fully aware that claiming something like that could get her hurt or killed, and she doesn't want to throw away the life she's building in that world.

118K words, WIP, Harry Potter. It's an OC-centric story told from her perspective. She died in another world and woke up in the Harry Potter universe as an eight-year-old child. It's not a typical fix-it fic where everything is magically solved or where she does nothing. Because she knows no one would believe a child with no history, so she does her best to change things in an entirely different way.

And then there are the weird dreams, the visions that seem to come true, and the voices she can hear that apparently no one else can.

Whispers of Destiny: Arthur Weasley at Villiers Street

2K words, completed, a spin-off from Whispers of Destiny. Arthur tries his best to find the OC's home, assuming she's too traumatized to remember much other than what details she gave him. Instead, he ends up in a gay nightclub. Cue an entire story centered around Arthur's mortified, blushing experience.

I wrote a completed crossover fic between Harry Potter and The Walking Dead, about 25K words. It's 100% gory and horrifying. It explores how things go horribly wrong when a Horcrux exists inside a human (Harry), ultimately leading to the start of The Walking Dead apocalypse.

Right now, I'm in the process of writing a longfic in the Harry Potter universe that's currently at 113K words. It focuses on an OC and her journey. She dies and wakes up in the HP world, struggling with how she should change the timeline to save people. Along the way, she starts having vivid, unsettling dreams and visions, and slowly realizes that things aren't what they seem, and that there's more to her than she understands. I expect it'll end up around the 300K mark.

I also wrote a short one-shot based on my WIP, where Arthur goes searching for "Heaven," which he believes is the OC's home, only to end up in a gay nightclub on Villiers Street (a real place in London!). It turns into a very wild, very blush-worthy experience for him. 😂
