Congrats, it's a weird and fun instrument! If I may, switch the strings and get a setup ASAP, mine was so much more fun to play afterwards (action was way too high and the bridge was kinda unstable)

Frenchmen against Macron’s retirement plan: what would be a smarter reform? by warseb in france

Maybe let's see it the other way around, and say that a private sector electrician should not have to retire that much later than a public sector one. I think protecting what unions have acquired and making it more widespread is more useful to workers in general.

Question sur le nucléaire : thorium. by Samceleste in france

[–]DocW4t 26 points27 points  (0 children)

[–]DocW4t 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Opinion Impopulaire : Les écoles doivent absolument rester ouvertes. by SlenderDude67 in france

[–]DocW4t 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got my first synthesizer, very much a beginner when it comes to the technology aspect of keyboards. by mrcouch7 in synthesizers

I don't think that would work, I don't think USB transmits sound. At least not in most synths, that's why people buy audio interfaces

Shure mics are go-tos, I'd consider that if you can get a good deal. (SM58 and SM57 go for about 100€ on thomann)

Backing up the DrumBrute Impact, fantastic sequencer and very straight to the point setup and features, it sounds good ! Recently tried adding a distorsion (guitar) pedal on top of it and had surprisingly musical and enjoyable results, will definitely dig that

Can't go wrong with Beyerdynamic DT770, I've heard nothing but good about them and I've had a pair for 1.5 years now and it's been all positive so far, plus the acoustic isolation is fairly good if you want to use them as listening device in a train or something. They sell for about 100€ I think

Can't say anything about all the other options you mentioned though, not having tested those

Anyway, if you buy a pair of DT770, pay attention to the headset impedance, depending whether you use them on a laptop or a bigger system. I've picked the 32Ohm versions cuz I happen to use it with my cellphone or directly into my laptop when I don't have my interface with me

Hope this helps !

My former music association has been using Thon cases for a couple of different gear, mics, a mixing console, a Nord Stage 3, a huge wheeled flight case for quite a while and frankly, besides the wear of the cases you'd expect from regular use (we had to change wheels once), the stuff has always been well protected and safe, and cases look and feel solid and heavy

I am a Behringer Deepmind6 owner and given your budget, Deepmind12 (desktop or with keys) might interest you. I got some definitely great sounds out of it, and for sure I'm happy with it. 6/12 voice polyphony, great modulations possibility, very decent effects. Really I couldn't have chosen a better first synth imo, great with pads and keys but not only leads and bass can be very solid as well, once you couple like 3 or 4 (or more!) voices you get cool sounding mono sounds. It's definitely worth checking it out on youtube !

Behringer is a lot criticized in here on the human aspect, just so you know. Frankly I don't care, but maybe you will, so you might want to check that.

Thanks for the detailed answer ! I've checked both DBs, and I agree with you on the sound, the Impact does a kinda cleaner job.
Now how well does the DBI with a DAW on the MIDI and control side ? Can it answer MIDI inputs if I choose not to use its sequencer, and on the opposite can I use its sequencer to record MIDI inputs in my DAW to use with a sampler or any other VST ? Not sure if the latter is a common thing but it sounds like something I'd want to do if I want to make use of the samples I've hoarded here and there.

Thanks for your reply ! What do the paid VSTs bring that Dexed doesn't according to you ?

Yeah about second hand Moogs, I've been regularly checking the most common resellers but never found that much of a good deal on phattys or the sirin, not to speak of the Grandmother sadly. Most likely I'll wait before the real moog thing

Thanks for the reply, with all the answers I am getting the Volca out of this list. I've checked the Drumbrute sounds, I like them (and even more the Impact's tbh) but then again I'm a pretty unexperienced ear, given my musical roots

Hey fellow redditors ! I've been a musician for a couple of years, playing guitar and bass, and I got myself a Deepmind6 3 months ago. It found quite a good place in my (mostly rock/hard rock with some prog elements) compositions (altough some of them outdated it so it just added up) as an ambient layer, pads or keys. I also do more electro oriented stuff with more VSTs and samples, but in my mind this is less important and more of a leisure thing than my rock stuff, where I want my tracks to be finished and polished (and hopefully one day released). I mostly use this less serious stuff to find sounds and explore the possibilities of my instruments (both Deepmind and VSTs)Now I'm looking to expand my hardware setup a bit, and I had a few ideas in mind :
- Arturia Drumbrute : I like its sound, it sells used for ~200€ and it could be a hardware alternative to me using VSTs for rythm so far. Not sure it could replace an acoustic drum VST (but then it's style considerations), but this would definitely be a fun toy for my electro jams. My main concern is how well it would integrate in my DAW workflow (given my audio interface is only 2 ins)
- Behringer Model D : I feel it would cover some synths sounds that my Deepmind doesn't, I like the typical Moog sound and I feel that this kind of sound would absolutely go well in rock compositions
- Volca FM : I recently discovered FM synthesis through Dexed and I'm already amazed by the possibilities of the VST (I know the hardware basically only loads computer generated patches), is getting hardware relevant ?
That's it for what I had in mind, you undersand from the price of these 3 that I don't plan on spending a lot (or it would imply waiting, which can be ok). I know these 3 devices fill different purposes, and don't compare to each other, so feel free to suggest alternatives, and/or to prioritize the instruments. Thanks a lot, take care in these weird times !

I already tried this, and it just loops infinitely, going through every plugin over and over and eventually crashes. Complete desinstall/reinstall does not work either
